Boy. There is a wide range of opinion about this years team!

For the most part, national opinion seems to be pretty luke warm. Forde and Beano think we are going to be a surprise. Otherwise, most think we will be in the 5 to 7 win range.

I got in an argument with my kid today. He thinks we are going to suck. I think we are going to surprise people. I do not remember the last time there was so much uncertainty about this program.

The only thing that will resolve all of this is to strap it up and play the games.

i would think, absent total disaster, that this is a bowl team. the uncertainty is whether it is a "sneak into the weedwacker bowl with 6 or 7 wins" team or something more is really the issue.

i would be sorely disappointed with a losing season and no bowl appearance.

Ugh, with all of this uncertainty who will enjoy the season? I say we take it off and hit the gym and the training table. Ugh.

I think we should forfeit the season so we can just get a years worth of practice and conditioning in.

Has anyone else noticed that most of the doubt about our potential this season comes from those who know the least about the program?

Maybe it's just around me, but one of my fraternity brothers for example is convinced that we're going to be absolute garbage this season, but he can't tell me the name of any player on our team other than Cody or DS - which leads me to believe that many people are basing their expectations off last season's performance. In the last few days alone, we've really addressed my concerns about WR, the emergence of freshman Nate Bonsu and the abundance of strong LBs has me feeling a lot better than this time last year. Sure, we will probably be without Kasa this year, but redshirting him isn't the worst thing in the world anyway...remember what DS and Givens said when they first got on campus?? They said look out for the 2010 season...this season could just be our spring board into the national spotlight next year!

I think virtually everyone is underestimating the ability of our O Line to influence games - if they allow our RBs to run, then even with inexperienced (but big, fast & talented) new WRs, we should be able to surprise.

Lastly, look who Texas plays the week after we visit them at home - OKALHOMA. Considering what happened between those 2 last year, can you really tell me that Texas is not going to be focused on the Red River shootout (which could again decide the national championship) - the way Texas sees us is just as a mid-tier Big XII team that didn't even make a bowl game last year...this game has potential upset written all over it!

All things considered, I don't see any chance we win 10. I think 7 wins and a respectable bowl appearance have us poised for big things in 2010 - just my opinion

I somewhat disagree with this statement. This is the year we should get 8-10 wins. With next years schedule we might have a better team with a worse win/loss ratio.

I agree that next year's schedule will be more difficult, but imagine what this year could do to the experience and confidence of our young players. Think how many talented players will redshirt this year and be ready to go next year. Plus, give Speedy and DS a full season to get comfortable in the system of power running and we could do some things - we'll be virtually the only Big XII team not running some sort of the spread - which will make every team we play have to prepare especially for our style of play, that will be to our advantage...plus, even if we win the same # of games next year, we're playing a higher caliber of team which should help us in the rankings

I think this team is going to be about .500 this year. Too many questions again at QB, DL, WR, and special teams.

This team has all the tools to do something special this yr. 8 wins with a bowl win.....GO BUFFS!!!!!

Woah, hold on right there. You think we will beat Texas, but only win 7 games? Who will our 5 losses be against?

Ok. St? kNU (I hope not!!)? Kansas? K. State? Mizzery? W. Vag? You think we only win one of these games?

I have had sunnier expectations going into the 2006 and 2008 seasons, having bought into Hawk's Boise resume.

Going into 2009, CU has a beefed up OL, the best collection of RB talent in recent memory, and a talented defensive secondary, and more experienced players recruited under the Hawkins system. The schedule is favorable for a legitimate run at the North. I really should be more convinced an 8 win or better season is in reach.

Memories of tipped and underthrown passes, missed FGs, a history of losing on the road, and the injury/suspension/transfer bug among key contributors linger. Some of that might be addressed by experience, more depth, new OC, WR and OL coaches. I hope so.

This season doesn't seem like a first date with the freaky homecoming queen. It's more like a forth date with a girl who farted on the first and third, and didn't go all the way on the second.

But she did give a handy on the 3rd so that was nice. :smile2:

This is a nice breakdown on why to believe the Buffs will be playing in the BigXII Championship game:

Since when did we get Rodney Stuckey on the buffs?

CU returns a deep and physical O-line which is exciting for those around Boulder, considering they may have the most talented RB tandem in the conference in Rodney Stuckey and Darrell Scott. Scott was the top RB recruit in the nation in 2008.

Sounded like a bunch of pillow talk to me. I believe in the prediction, but this guy needs to do some research before he speaks. 3-4? Colorado Stadium?...great prediction from a tool. hope its true though.

I saw that too, but still thought it was refreshing to see someone write a positive blurb on the Buffs.

Love the postive outlook, but his lack of fact or knowledge kind of discredits his opinion. Again...hope he is right, just sounds like he's trying too hard just to make the wildcard prediction so he can tell his D&D buddies "i told you so."
