Can anybody shed some light on why this kid has underwhelmed so far? When he came in, I thought he was going to push for PT as a freshman. But he didn't. He redshirted. OK, I then figure he'll be a freak as a RS freshman. He wasn't.

All indications were that this was a kid who was going to do some damage at the college level. That hasn't panned out, and I'm curious as to why.

Any ideas? He just a late bloomer, who will kick ass as a Junior & Senior?

Hawk said that they would rotate heavily.... He will have plenty of chances to impress.

Your expectations were built by the recruiting services. And Forest West didn't deserve a D-2 scholarship either.... I'm not sure Obi has disappointed here. He's a sophomore who is basically neck-and-neck for a starting position and will play heavily. Shields isn't exactly a stiff.

Without a doubt. That doesn't temper the expectations, though. This is his third year in the program, he should be up to speed by now. Hell, Cunningham came in as a true freshman last year and took time away from Nicholas & Hypolite.

Just seems like there's something missing here. I don't know what it is, but I really, really hope Obi gets it together this year. We need him to produce.

I believe Obi only started playing football his Jr year of HS as well, and then was hurt his senior year. He was really, really raw coming to CU. I think we'll see him really come along as the season progresses.

Bandison's comments on the depth chart page stated shields has been more consistent of the two.

I don't know if this is the case in Obi's situation but a lot of times guys who are great athletes in high school take some time to adjust to competing against guys who can match their athletic ability. In HS they could dominate just based on power and/or speed, in college they have to work at the whole game just to compete on an even basis. It also takes time sometimes to adjust to not being able to dominate, even at your best.

I have high expectations for Obi but as stated by others, he is very young and still learning the game while trying to compete at a very high level.

Obi's a great athlete who needs to start spending as much time on technique as he does in the weight room. Basically, he needs to become a football player. Once he does, the sky's the limit.

He's a SOPHOMORE! He's in the mix! Read the bios and try to unnerstan?

Who knows? Maybe DE ain't his "nacheral posishun!"

I was thinking the same thing about Taj Kaynor. There was a lot of hype on him coming to CU but he has barely seen the field. What happened?

Maurice Lucas' parents used to frequent a dance club where I work PT....anyway, last year I asked Maurice's dad what was going on with Obi and he told me that Maurice said Obi just wasn't quite ready yet and he left it at that. Take that for what its worth.

What is it about you and reading bios? Like that's going to shed any light on this subject at all.

You're one strange duck, that's for sure.

Well, it hasn't worked for you yet, so what makes you think it will work for anybody else?

A sincere question for you Bunky.

What pieces of information could have been "gleened" from Obi's bio that would have helped answer Sacky's initial question or helped him structure his question differently?
