Clemons throws Rich-Rod under the bus!!

"Throwing someone under the bus" occurs when you take a stand in FAVOR of that person, then later, when its convenient and expedient to do so, take a stand against that person, ala Obama and Rev Wright! or O and his grannie!

Clemons wasn't recruited by RichRod, he was part of the transition and obviously moved on when RR's methods were not to his liking.

Then, he tells the truth about what he didn't like....not even close to the same thing!

I'm sure other schools do it too, but if the players are admitting to exceeding the alloted times, then this could get real ugly for them. Unless of course it was USC.

I don't have to be in favor of you or even know you to "throw you under the bus". It is a case by case term which I did not know called for a definition.

I'm going to support our new Buff on this one.

The rules about time allotments are designed to protect the players and also to make sure that they have a decent opportunity to do their classwork. Clemons is looking out for his ex-teammates. He's also backing up guys who went to the newspaper who are being called liars by Rich Rod. Finally, there was a culture and standard Michigan had when Clemons signed that he loved and respected. He's seen that erode under the new regime and it bothers him. It's why he decided to transfer and why he chose to play at CU under men of integrity like Coaches Hawkins and Kiesau.

Why are you making it so complicated? If you say something that gets someone else in trouble, you're throwing them under the bus. It's that simple. No need to invoke some political scenario to describe it

Mods,

Alferd and I were wondering if we can develop a new "semantics" forum where we go to figure out the meaning of words and phrases.

For instance, what's the difference between "douchebag", "cheese-dick" and "poseur"?

Seriously, what's the difference, I'd like to be able to categorize that (I'm not even kidding).

Also, it's essential I understand the real meaning of "throwing someone under the bus". I think I've been using that as incorrectly as I've been using "irony".

Semantics forum is a must!

Okay, Alferd didn't conspire with me on that one--just throwing him under the bus.

When in Rome...

If we're going to be specific, the phrase "throw someone under the bus" is to sacrifice, betray or use someone as a scapegoat.

So technically, you're both wrong.

But everyone knew what BuffInVA meant, so I don't know what was supposed to be gained by "correcting" him. And when the correction is also incorrect, that's just an epic fail and major douchebaggery.

Okay, Mr. "Irony Police" guy.

When in doubt please consult Urban Dictionary.

Thanks.

Thanks..... I think:lol::lol:

In the context of this thread and Lil' Bunky's contribution to it, none.

See, I don't picture Bunky as a pretty boy in a sideways hat who's totally reliant on image over substance.

I think of Bunky as more of a tool.

We really need a semantics forum.

I actually, honestly, truly, and really thought this when I arrived here, fresh off the boat (bus) and encountered "Idot" and "allsome" and a host of other words that were definable only in context.

Lurking and not posting allowed me to integrate myself linguistically into the socially restrictive subculture that represents allbuffs.

This thread is full of cheese-dicked win.

:focus:

I didn't see exactly what Toney said, but when you're pretty much the only guy who knows what he's talking about and has nothing to gain one way or the other, really, I don't see any reason for him to keep his mouth shut.

just saw RR crying on espnu... not sure if it was real or for show.

I thought the same thing. Followed it up with some short story about a couple of frosh walking into his office, blah, blah, blah. Looked pretty theatrical to me.

I'm sure someone in the CU a/d has given Clemons the "choose your words wisely" talk, after his initial comments. TC prolly still has friends in ann arbor and feels like his statements may help them......but the shark-pool press just smelled blood. He needs to be careful.

Looks like Plati did it for Toney...

CU’s Clemons explains quotes re Michigan allegations

“It was not my intention to come to the forefront of any situation dealing with the Michigan football program. I talked to a reporter (Schad) Sunday night, but did not answer any questions. Nor did I contribute any information. I don’t have any ties to the original allegations and my involvement in the matter doesn’t go any further than reading the (Detroit Free Press) article and confirming the allegations made by anonymous sources.
“If I am asked to answer questions by any official party, be it the University of Michigan, the Big Ten or the NCAA, I will be honest about my schedule while at Michigan. But for right now, I am a Colorado Buffalo and no longer associated with Michigan or its football program. It’s time for me to concentrate on my classes and my teammates here at Colorado.”

It is division one football, it's the Big 12. Go play intramurals.........

It was not too long ago that players here under a new coach were complaining about practice.

:congrats: for Plati on this deal. This could have gotten ugly in a hurry. I sometimes don't think we appreciate what Dave Plati does for us enough. The guy is probably one of the top 5 SIDs in the country.

There is a big difference between expecting players to exceed the weekly workout limit and simply expecting them to work out, period.

Hawk was being sent anonymous letters from players' mommies complaining that the players weren't being given an extra week off from conditioning during the summer. Comparing that to the allegations at Michigan is not really relevant.
