What's your "big upset" pick for the weekend?

What's your upset pick and why? (To win outright, not just point spread.)

I'm taking U Mass to win at Kansas State. The Minutemen are ranked #18 in the preseason FCS poll. Their conference, the Colonial Athletic Association, is the best in the FCS. It includes the following ranked teams: Richmond, JMU, New Hampshire, William&Mary, Maine & Hofstra and also includes Delaware & Villanova (which are usually ranked). They've named a JUCO transfer as their starting QB, which pretty much means they won a recruiting battle against KSU already. UMass 17 - KSU 13.

I would love to see Florida Atlantic win this weekend. :smile2:

But I am picking the "easy" upset and going with Western Michigan beating Michigan.

Going with V-Tech(#7) over Alabama(#5). Tech is a strong team at home, plus it is a night game. Tech defense could be the best in college football this yr, very tough place to play (fuskers have to travel there, yeah good luck with that)......GO BUFFS!!!!!
Also have my eye on the BYU - OU game, could be closer then most are thinking

LOL....could be just mass suicide in Mich this weekend if that was to happen

I would pick Tech too but they lost their starting running back.

Louisiana Tech over Auburn!

How you like them apples Grimey.

I'll go with Western Mich also. It seems like they have traditionally been a decent MAC team, and who knows how big the dissention is in Ann Arbor.

Florida Atlantic's got a good QB in Rusty Smith. It wouldn't really shock me if Schnellenberger went into Lincoln and got a win (surprise me, cause me to raise an eyebrow, laugh my ass off... but not shock me).

this game is being played in atlanta in the georgia dome, i believe. gonna be lots of 'bama fans there.

edit: yup. here ya go....

ATLANTA (AP) — Alabama enjoyed so much success in its 2008 opener at the Georgia Dome that it will return to Atlanta for a repeat visit next season.
Alabama will play Virginia Tech on Sept. 5 in the Georgia Dome in the 2009 opener for each team.
Alabama beat then-No. 9 Clemson 34-10 at the Georgia Dome to open its 2008 season. The Crimson Tide rode the momentum gained from the win to go through the regular season without a loss. Alabama rose to No. 1 before returning to the Georgia Dome to lose to Florida 31-20 in the Southeastern Conference championship game on Dec. 6.

As 4db already pointed out, the VT-Bama game is in Atlanta.

I'm not really seeing much out there in the way of big upsets, plus I haven't seen the lines, but I like OSU over UGA, but not sure I'd call that one much of an upset since the Pokes are at home. The 'Cuse pick is nice.

Overall I guess I'd go with Miami over FSU Monday night.

Gawd I'd love to see you guys be right about that Nevada pick!!!!

Nevada over ND.

Wouldn't that be a hoot!!!!!! They deserve a nice upset; the dolden gomers have 5 consecutive home games this year. That's more than a month where they don't even have to leave the campus.

Saw on tv where a sign has been erected a 1/2 mile from jabba-weis' office that basically says the 5 year internship is over.

I dont think you can pick an upset in OSU/ Georgia... the spread is too small...

I think your picking the favorite if you pick Western Michigan :)

I would go with Nevada over ND... like some others here....

sorry NU haters... they wont lose this weekend... we will have to wait until VTech...

I know this is a stretch, but I'm going with BYU over OU.

Me too. I hate all the injuries that BYU has had, like, a tremendous amount at important spots. But, OU just announced they're starting last years tight end at Center. Yes, starting. All 260lbs of him. :wow:

My prediction: Mass partying in Provo. Maybe even some caffeine consumed....look out.

Watch out for North Dakota State over Iowa State...the Bison from Fargo whipped Kent State on the road a couple years back.

I'll throw my hat in this ring!

Since I'll be in a room full of landthieves during the game, I'm rooting for BYU. Hey, it worked in 2005 w/ the TCU game. :smile2:

Definitely a posibility. I just don't get that sense of cohesivness form OU, some about them seems like they are in for a let down. Then again I might be made to look like a fool come saturday night.

This is definitely a possibility. But ISU has a new coach who will be looking to prove something.

Western Michigan is definitely looking good. Ann Arbor has some major problems and the media isn't helping.

NDSU over ISU wouldn't be that big of an upset. But I'll go with it. They're the Bison, which is almost as good as being a Buff.

no friggin way byu beats OU. no friggin way. if i were a betting man (im not), i would sink all money into OU covering.

(i have a plan)

What about Boise State and Oregan, I know they are both highly and closely ranked, but I think Oregan is a little overated this year. Very good team but not Pac 10 Champs good.

I am kind of rooting for BS to lose this one so I don't have to hear the whining at the end of the year about BS being NC's. But on the other hand **CK oregon!
