Sleeping on it

Changed nothing for me.

:sad2:

I woke up early this morning pissed and yet almost accepting of it. Totally embarrassed and disappointed but I saw it coming and am not too surprised. I almost believed all the bullshhit about how the team is way ahead of where they were last year, how practices are going really well, how they were saving most of thier good plays for private scrimmages, about how they have been working their asses off in the gym, about how they will have a shot at the Big XII (read the article in the Coloradoan Alumni newsletter) , and all the other crap. Last year, I had hoped he would get fired, but too many were still on his jock saying give him time.
Last night just proved everything I and many others that are now speaking out believed, that Hack was a mediocre coach at best and the sooner we purge the program from his weakness the better off the team will be in the long run.

im gonna post a thread on this... but why has no one blame kiseau... there was no cohesive offensive game plan... i dont see why noone has anything negative to say... maybe it was his first game but i still dont see why you dont blame him at least partially... by the way i am in no way absolving hawk of any sins

Agreed. He and his son were big fish in a small pond back in Idaho. They've been exposed. Does anyone think cody was really a 4 star talent coming out of highschool? Being the best QB in Idaho is like being the best hockey player in all of mexico.

I think Kiesau is escaping most of the blame because what we saw last night was exactly what we saw when Helfrich was OC. Right now you have to think that the HC, not the OC, is responsible for the offensive scheme. (The word "offensive" can be read in two different ways, and in this case I think they both work...)

I disagree, while there are a couple posters who have an axe to grind with Hawk specifically, most people have condemned the coaching in every aspect. Not one coach, not one side of the ball. We were unprepared at every level of this game. That falls on Hawk the most because he's the HC, but there really were no signs that any of the position groupings was prepared and ready to play this game. I guess the LBs sucked the worst, but no one played well in this game and that falls on all of the coaches.

Oh, I don't disagree that this loss falls on all the coaches. I'm just saying that I think people are blaming Hawk more than Kiesau for the way the offense looked last night because it didn't look any different than the pre-Kiesau offense.

I do disagree with the linebackers being the worst part of the team. In fact, in the second half I thought they might have been the best unit on the field for CU. Beatty and Smart in particular seemed to be playing well. I saw a couple nice plays from Rippy too, which is nice...

In fact, it is a bit shocking to me that the best thing I can say about the coaching staff is that Collins and the defensive staff seemed to make some reasonably effective halftime adjustments....

I meant to say "sucked the least" not "sucked the worst." The LBs were the lone "bright" spot, but they made their share of mistakes too. However, considering the pass rush and stopping the run fell entirely to them, I don't know how much you can blame them.

I slept on it, and I'm still pretty upset. I still believe we need to give Hawk the rest of the season to show us why he should be our coach next season.

Yeah, I'm not on the mid-season coaching change bandwagon. I understand the idea that it might save recruiting, etc. But honestly recruiting would be on hold until a new permanent coach was in place anyway, and the schemes in place now aren't going to be completely changed on the fly. I think you have to live with Hawk the rest of the year. But right now I think it would be totally negligent for Bohn to not at least be making some contingency plans for what happens if **** doesn't change...

OTOH, the history of Bohn's coaching hires has been posted here before, and it isn't exactly pretty. I don't see Bohn going away, so I guess we'll just have to hope that changes...
