All is not lost .. we're a school-record field goal away from two straight bowl appearances in just Hawk's 2nd and 3rd seasons. Remember the cupboard was B A R E when he arrived.

And too remember the 2001 season: You'll recall all was lost when Fresno won that opener? Or how about that "Kickoff Classic" tie in the opener almost twenty years ago? I'm not pretending we're in for those kinds of wild rides, just that we have rebounded more than a few times.

Now, if he would play Hansen and Scott ......

We probably are jumping off the gun a bit.. I think people would handle the loss better if we weren't so frickin bad in the 1st half.. That was just so pathetic to come out there like that at home against CSU..

All add some sunshine to your post and remind everyone that Mac started 0-4 in his fourth year also including a loss to CSU that was even worse than this one.

The season ain't over, but it doesn't look very promising.. And I won't even start with our recruiting or more like lack of..

I just dont understand the play calling, how this team never seems ready to play......and for the love of all good, why the rotation of the RB

Put down the crack pipe. This team will not beat anyone. The only positive was making a long field goal.

Every one here know that we will miss the 25 yard try when the game is on the line.

Hawkins sucks as a coach. Cody sucks as a QB, and the new OC sucks as much as the guy last year.

It has been three years, and if we were talking about playing OU or Texas close I could give everything a pass.

We just got or asses kicked by CSU!

The score should not have been as close as it was!

Blah blah blah blah rhetoric blah lies blah.

If you think that CSU this year is anything like Fresno 2001 I don't know what to tell you.

The CSU team we just lost to sucks...

Hey, I don't mind a loss when you are obviously doing things to try and not lose, making adjustments, and trying to win. Maybe even being pissed in the post-game interviews. But when we lose like this I get pissed. Hell, at the half, Fairchild was more pissed at his team for leaving pts on the field than Hawk was for laying an egg.

We may have been a record breaking field goal from 6-6 last year, but we were also very close to losing the WVU, KSU and ISU games to go 2-10. Our record was what it was.

Man looking at other teams around the country, ours looks like peewee flag football! We'll be lucky to win 3 more games.

Fire this fool now.

Understood, but based on what we all saw last night there's not much reason for optimism. The O-line still isn't getting it done, same old play-calling with DS seeing hardly any action, continuous rotation of RB's, lack of a pass rush, plays barely getting the snap off before the play-clock expires, the list goes on.

I'm not saying the season can't be turned around, but if last night is an indicator of the season, Woelk is right in that we'll win about 4 games.

i posted this on the newsroom one about hansen but it belongs here

ok i was pissed last night but the panic is laughable first games are notoriously dangerous... if they are 0-3 heading to morgantown then i will panic but until then lighten up its not over the staff hasnt given up it was one very very bad game

It just doesn't feel like one very bad game. It is becoming a trend, and that is what is frustrating. There are just too many questions for it to be a one game thing and if hawk would talk to the media and let us know why his highness didn't play DS instead of leaving us in the dark and speculating. I am just fed up and his diatribe is played out. 13 wins out of 38 games I don't think is laughable.

Uhh... yeah, one of these "lets keep some perspective" threads might have worked last year but as another poster pointed out this loss does not exist in a vacuum and must be looked at as part of hawkins' overall body of work. It's time to accept the reality: unless hawk was playing rope a dope and they blow the doors off of the next two opponents this season is going nowhere.

Yeah, it's not that we lost - that can happen, even to a good team, especially in a rivalry game. The problem is the way we lost - dominated from the start on our perceived strengths, mixed with some odd calls and personnel choices. I'm sure Hawk has forgotten more about football than I will ever know, I just wish he hadn't done it before this game, this season.

Absolutely, it's just that there is no hope w/ Coach Hack. I have no confidence whatso ever that he will be a good coach in the Big XII. It's not just one game tis the 25 losses in just over 3 yrs that has killed any faith I had in him. Actually I lost faith in the middle of last season, last night just reinforced my stance, and can now only hope the next coach will use the talent Hack recruited and turn around the program than Hack's poor attempt.

The CSU team we just lost to sucks...

I disagree on two points.

1. It wasn't so much that we got beat as it was how ugly and unprepared we looked with the ball that is making so many of us so upset.

2. CSU certainly sucked a lot less than we did. To say the suck is a gross misrepresentation of facts.

Like I said, the 2d half wasn't great, but we did hold them to three points and scored some of our own... keisau seemed to be getting a feel for playcalling towards the end. However, this is mostly just hopeful thinking on my part. Toledo should tell us more.

Let us not forget that CSU started turtling as well

Exactly!! It's not that we lost - it's how we lost. For example, Florida State (favored by 6.5 - CU was favored by 11!) lost to Miami last night, but it was a well fought game. Even though they lost, it was competitive, exciting and well coached.

I can't take anything positive away from Sunday's game except that our players are doing their best to win despite Dan Hawkin's aloof coaching ability. Simmons was giving 100% and had a sick deep catch. Goodman kicked a FG that would have been good from 60. D. Scott picked up 14 on one of his TWO touches. Scotty got rocked but came back to catch a TD.

It's becoming apparent that our players want to play and want to win but Hawkins & co can't get their $h*t together to help them do it.
