I’ve never really been able to understand why, in a region filled with some of the most loyal and knowledgeable fans in all of sports, University of Colorado Buffaloes fan has been able to stand out as the exception rather than the rule. Simply put, CU fan continues to be the worst fan in college athletics.

So it was, once again, during and after Colorado State toppled the Buffs 23-17 at Folsom Field in the season opener. First the constant booing of their starting quarterback…in the FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON, and then the hue and cry afterwards on message boards and talk radio. “Fire the Coach.” “Bench the Quarterback!” Blah blah blah. Hey, at least they didn’t get thrown out of the stadium this time. No, instead Buff fan got up to leave early in the fourth quarter when their team still had a chance to win the game. Incredible. Buff fan at it again.

To put things in perspective, had the Buffs recovered a late onside kick, drove for a touchdown and won the game, the post game rhetoric would have been about how CU was on its way to that 10-win season the coach promised, and heck, maybe a BCS Bowl game, too! Didn’t happen that way, but for Buff fan, there is zero middle ground. No realization that maybe his team is pretty good, but not great. Needs work, but isn’t terrible, either. No, for Buff fan, his team is either the greatest ever or the worst out there. Beat the Rams, and he’s talking unbeaten season and national title (as D lineman George Hypolite was doing after beating CSU last season) and how Oklahoma and Texas can be beat. Lose, and now the sky has fallen and everyone from the coaches to the secretaries should be fired on the spot. For Buff fan, extremes rule.

Just a guess, but that may be because you've never visited a Colorado Springs grocery store looking for a publication with ads for all the upcoming yard sales and a few shady used car dealers, complemented by the nonsensical ramblings of a Buff hating fusker and lammie fan who spent a few hellish innings as a MLB pitcher....

BOO this thread!!!!

A very well written article:smile:

Blame everyone BUT the people responsible.

This apologist garbage really gets old, quite quickly.

Possible the Dumbest article written on the Buffs this year. Not only does it not take into account past performance, but it is also flat out lies. One of my friends has a child playing for CSU and he was impressed that most of our fans stayed until the end. Not hard to see why Mark career has taken him where he is today.

What is funny is that the last time CSU had a coach who had losing seasons in 3 out of 4 years -- they fired him. And they had named the football field after the guy.

We need to close or get rid of this thread. Dont post that asswipe trash on here.
:sucks: or at least this POS shltty writer does.

A very well written article:smile:

Do you remember the NU fans of two years ago? :wow: The Booing and name calling in your Stadium. The death threats to your head coach; Or the articles about players going to Omaha for a night’s peace because the fans in Lincoln would harass them so badly. We are far better fans than you find at an NU Game. Hands down.

Oh, it's that Mark Knudson! Haha I didn't make the connection at first. Wow.

Your posts have been pretty close to what this guy is saying.

So what? I'm a fan who wears his passion for CU football on his sleeves and you sir, are NOT the end all of be all of CU gab as you have been called out before.

I would not leave the stadium early, and I am not apathetic, I want to move on from the Hack era, and bring back hope with someone else leading the team because with Hack at the helm there is no hope. I'm not bipolar, I've been posting my views on Hack for over a year now.

And judging by the reps I've been getting, other fans appreciate my passion and agree with my views.

Knudson is a Cornhusker. He couldn't hold on to several jobs in local radio and the Coloradoan canned his lame column. He now writes for TheExaminer, an online outfit that doesn't pay writers. (or pays them per click, which amounts to about $10/month...no joke).

He didn't want to point out the obvious -- that CU's football team is in bad shape, even in year four of current coach -- because everyone else is already doing that.

So he ripped the CU fans.

He's done this before...often.

He's a Cornhusker.

Ignore him.

I'm going to second the eff this knudsun clown sentiment. Since November 2005 when the Buffs were 7-2 and ranked 24th in the country they have gone 13-29 and been blown out repeatedly at home and on the road. Yeah so sorry mr knudson if our fanaticism leads us to believe that a .333 average while good in baseball is pretty piss poor when you're talking about a winning percentage in division 1 football. Also when the team in question is 16th on the all time wins list, owns a national title and multiple conference crowns (including one this decade unlike nebraska), a heisman trophy winner and many more prestigious individual awards... it's considered good form to lament the current putrid state of the program.

With all due respect, I am not sure I have read anything as utterly stupid as the comments above.

I guess the point he is trying to make is that had we MIRACULOUSLY beaten the Rams on a last minute on side kick followed by a hail mary play then we would all be satisfied. We stupid Buff fans need to learn that we are not that terrible just a (couple miracles) away from beating CSU! CSU!?

You gotta be kidding me. We have gotten to the point where some of us have actually accepted mediocrity. Used to be a time when we wouldn't even play CSU because it was of no benefit. We would show up and put 50 on them with no problem. And now this joker is talking about "not being to good nor too terrible." It is folks like you who want to hold hands and sing cumbaya while we wallow in mediocrity that have our football tradition going down the drain.
