And my biggest beef (of many) from Sunday is the lack of passion the Buffs showed out there. They looked like they were sleepwalking out there, with no passion, emotion, drive, etc.

I know Hawk preaches all this zen bull****, but I just don't buy into it. In 3 years +1 game, I have just had it with this mentality.

I want pissed off, physical play on the field. The zen can stay in the locker room as far as I'm concerned. It's just not working.
 
The fact that people are saying Toledo is a "must win" says all you need to know about how far south DH has driven the program. How come first and second year coaches bring their squads to Boulder and beat or scare the crap out of the Buffs? (I'm talking about Fairchild, Prince, the EWU guy, I'm sure their are others). How come DH has his fourth version of the Buffs and they look about the same as the last three?

At least he's cashing those fat checks to win one out of every three and his son gets to be the four year starter, I guess I shouldn't complain, we did revenge ourselves on ISU last year...barely.
 
It's also a physical game...Phil Jackson might be able to get away with his pussyfoot Zen BS for basketball & the froo froo Lakers, but football is about breaking people's clavicles as well, and you can't do that without the emotion & fire within

Absolutely. If it's a choice between hawk's dime store zen philosophy or a Gunnery Sergeant Hartman type coach... count me in for the latter. Can we hire R. Lee Ermey?

They followed the example their coach set. They showed Coach Talkins on TV a few times and he almost seemed stoic ... as if he didn´t care. Just stood there doing nothing.

I know. And while that is a great approach to a sport like baseball, it doesn't work for football, IMO.

This does remind me of Gary Barnett's last few games as well.
 
Listless and apathetic is how I would describe the teams emotion not just at the game, but in the time after the game as well.
 
Great point Rino. Fairchild was fired up, he was not satisfied at halftime. Hawk looked lost.

Unfortunately "the zen" is in the locker room. Hawkins' pre-game speeches are laced with Buddhist wisdom and Jesus quotes. Players are encouraged to quietly meditate and be on an even emotional plane going into the game. Never be on the mountain or in the valley. Be the master of yourself and your emotions (the bow, not the arrow).

We can wish whatever we want.

We can hope that the players are going to be ready to kill somebody when they take the field against Toledo.

But it's not going to happen.

Hawkins doesn't want them to be like that.

If someone is like that, he won't play.

I know it's not gonna happen with Hawk, and that's what I hate. I am just venting more than anything.

Talkins. I like that one.
