How do you guys think he did? Overall there weren't as many WTF moments imo.

first half = awful. Second half was continual progress. However, still, TOO LONG TO GET THEPLAYS IN!

Well he sure called a lot of sweeps and screens and 3 yard in-routes so I'm not very impressed.

Kiesau didn't call the RB screens. Cody looked around and when no one was open he went with the screen as a last resort

To be fair....if Cody holds onto the ball for 1 more second before making the panic throw on a few of those RB screens, we have TD's on those plays....there were a few times when if Cody makes the pass we had blockers and only about 3 CSU guys between the ball & the endzone

seriously... This offense looked and acted handicapped last night. They abandoned the running game to early (understandable for a 1st timer to panic), and then played a bunch of scrubs at wideout. They couldn't get open and they couldn't catch. Cody was running for his life... however, I didn't mind the 2d half rollouts since they were designed to keep cody from being killed.

WTF was the Iformation tho?

When he got down by two scores he panicked and tried to re-invent the game plan. But he is young and a rookie coordinator. Hopefully he takes a giant step forward from this experience.

You're probably right but it didn't look like a last resort to me, it looked like the instant the ball was snapped cody was laser locked on the half back for the screen pass. Csewe ate it up every time.

The screen plays (not the RB swings, but actual Screens) were well setup but the LB who had th RB was reading Cody BIG TIME. He called the plays at great times for them to be big gainers, but the LB wasn't fooled.

This is the only play where Cody backpedals as hard as he can and I think that's the tipoff. He needs to act like he's in the pocket and then when it collapses, he needs to back away and get an extra second for their to be seperation between the RB and the LB who is blitzing. Perhaps the RB needs to do a better job of pretending to block before his release as well....

Very disappointed with Kiesau. We have no identity on offense. You have to be committed to the run. Even if your down in the game. This idea that you have to air the ball out when your inside the rams 40 yard line with a quarter and a half left is crap. We were down 10 not 30.

By the way, if you only put Scott in to catch screen passes don't be surprised if the other team figures out what play is coming when he comes into the game.

H o o o o r i b l e !

Clock management in the second half was the worst I've ever seen.

No timeout before the 4th down play was inexcusable....

The wide, slow-developing sweep call was also inexcusable.

I think the bigger question is what is Denver Johnson doing?

committed to the run when you are getting 1 yard per carry is ridiculous... He made adjustments but the boat had too many leaks.

there weren't? Did we watch the same game?

4th and 1 with a slow developing off tackle run play with at best our 3 best RB.. Plus no rhythm or sense of urgency at all during the game I think he's about as bad as Hellaf$$k was..

Are we sure Hellaf$$k didn't call the plays on Sunday?

I would have liked it if we had run the ball more, but it's not the spread so overall I already like it better than last year. Bear in mind that we had more dropped passes again. Cody did miss some open receivers, but he also hit some in the numbers only to have it dropped. There were at least two I can remember that would have been first downs. I'm not counting the drop that McKnight had after getting speared. Not having Simas on the field hurt, as did losing Smith over the summer. THANK GOD for the hard work Simmons did to just get here.

Sunday was all we needed to see to know how this season is going to turn out if we can't run the ball.

He's the offensive coordinator. The offensive was horrible. What more is there to discuss?

Kiesau panicked and threw out the gameplan after 2 series.

Hawkins obviously did not prepare him to call plays in a game situation. Plays were coming in too late and the personnel groups that went with particular plays had everyone confused. There was no time for Cody and the WRs to make their pre-snap reads. Scott disappeared from the game. B-Lock wasn't used after busting a touchdown. Frankly, it was an abortion and it was made worse by the fact that Hawkins stood idly by and allowed it to continue instead of stepping in and showing some leadership as the head coach.

P.S. And I'm not really blaming Kiesau. He's smart. He's a good recruiter. He's a good teacher. He's philosophically sound as an offensive coordinator. He just had no game experience and Hawkins failed in his job as head coach... to coach the coaches. Instead, he's dicking around as a WR coach and failing to get Simmons and Wright prepared to play so Espinoza (an Ivy League talent) ends up starting.

Agreed 100% on our offensive identity. Kiseau is just very green to all of this, even after being an assistant, the leap to OC is HUGE. Hawkins needed to help groom this guy better so everything would flow better on gameday. I think he'll do fine once he realizes he has to keep to the gameplan when you are down by 14 pts. He knows it, just has to learn it.

Does he get to decide which backs are in the game? I doubt it. That's up to Hawk and Hagan, with his input of course. Is it his fault that our WRs couldn't catch a ball thrown to them? Is it his fault that he hasn't had 3 years to work with Cody to help prepare him better? Ugh, this offense has a lot of problems. Some of the blame does go to Kiseau, but in the 2nd half this O had a fire light up their butts until McKnight was taken out. With him gone we didn't have any experienced WRs out there...very sad. He has to take some of the blame for that as well though, but not all. Simas not being out there hurt us really, really, really bad.

The lack of wideouts killed this offense. They need to get Simmons/WillJeff/Wright out there STAT. McKnight is a decent #2 and a great #3, and espy belongs on a div 2 team :bang: . All my fears from the first scrimmage came true.

Kisea's lack of preparation was obvious. But maybe I need to be more patient with him. I hope he can devise a couple of gadget plays, add new wrinkles or variations to some of the plays they currently run. He also has to have more imagination and demand proper execution of the plays he does call.

I hope he's a fast learner. I think he took his game plan for granted and just figured it was going to work. Then he got smacked in the mouth and freaked out.

Abandoned run game too early. I feel like that killed momentum. 3 passes, three and out is a huge momentum boost.
