+ CU favored by 4 as of today.

- We are the 3rd big 12 opponent for toledo; they beat kansas in 06 and ISU in 07.

- Toledo threw for 423 yards & 3 TDs (2 INTS) last week (look out!)

+ Toledo gave up 234 and 2 TDs to Ralph Bolden (Purdue Soph RB); 78 yd TD on first run.

+ Toledo gave up 535 yds total offense; 315 rush & 220 pass.

- Toledo threw the ball 69 times and ran 22 times; 6.3 yds/pass & 3.2 yds/rush.

- Team O Stats Comparisons from game 1s respectively (TOL - Buffs):

Score: 31 17
First Downs: 26 13
Total Yards 493 251
Passing 423 222
Comp-Att (59.4%)41-69 (60%)24-40
Yds/Pass 6.1 5.6
Rushing 70 29
Att 22 21
Yds/rush 3.2 1.4
Penalties 5-40 5-60
3rd Down Conversions 10-19 3-14
4th Down Conversions 1-2 2-3
Turnovers 3 2
Sacks Given up 0 4

Overall not looking good; Toledo's passing game looks pretty good and our passing defense looks horrendous! A major plus is that we should be able to hold off their running attack and they shouldn't be able to slow ours (assuming they Hawk/Kiesau actually run the ball). The key in this game will be clock control; pound the ball slowly and methodically with the occasional deep shot to Simmons to keep them honest andkeep the ball out of the TOL QBs hands. They will dink-and-dunk all day and we need some consistent pressure from the front 4 (FEW BLITZs) to slow down the passing game and force INTs. If we can hold on to the ball and control the clock we win by 10 in a low scoring game. If we come in with the same game plan as Sunday, we lose by 31 in a 51-20 loss.

I don't know about a blowout of that proportion SD, but definitely not a team to be overlooked. Actually we don't have a team on our schedule that we should overlook. If our DB's play like they did in the second half of the CSU game we should be alright against Toledo.

If the DB's have learned their lesson on the deep ball, then I'm not terribly worried about their pass game or offense....biggest concern still remains our offense and if we can generate anything, since noone has seen us do much on that side of the ball for a couple years now

Again, depends on our defensive gameplan. The way CSU threw against us (and they only threw 17 times mind you), this Toledo team has some serious potential to blow it wide open against a week pass defense. CSU 10 of 17 for 208 yards; last week the toledo QB cpmpleted 4 times that many...We will see, but if we can't shore up the pass defense in the front 4 and the secondary, it has the potential to get real ugly real fast.

And again, I stated the 31 point loss based on us using the exact offensive and defensive strategy we used vs CSU (ie no running on Offense and no defense whatsoever).

the secondary sucked, but more importantly we need to get pressure up front. we can't allow them to put 4 or 5 receivers on routes while we have to blitz a LB or DB in order to get pressure; they will pick us apart all day if that happens.

Toledo is looking at CU/CSU film and saying we will beat these guys.
good. The worst thing for this team would be for us to win a squeaker that saves hawks job. I want us to either dominate or get blown out so we know a little more about this team. No more ****ing around.

We need to get pressure on the Toledo QB. The pass D in the second half against CSU looked a lot different in the second half when MotherStucker didn't have all night to let his receivers get deep and find them....

Here's hoping the corner don't bite on the double moves either. I know of at least one play where the CSU receiver put on a double move and burned our corner. Then he made up for it by spiking the ball and an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

The folks who come up with the spread analyse all those stats/facts and they've come up with the Buffs as winners Friday.

I agree with them, but by much more than 4 points because I think each player out there will have a lot of fire in their play after what happened the other day.

Sure they are. Toledo had the CU game as the only real 'winnable' one of the Purdue,CU,Luckeye games even before the games played last week. Results of the CU fiasco only reinforced that and will make them 'think' they can win. :sad1:

if CU loses to freaking toledo on friday, hawkins should be fired in the locker room after the game ends. i hate to say things like that, but if this isn't a job game, i don't know where we are headed with the program.

this is toledo the Buffs are going to ohio to play, not the buckeyes, for chrissakes.

toledo!

even with the disarray we saw on sunday, i honestly and truly believe CU is going to beat these guys and they should beat them soundly. if the Buffs fall to 0-2, you can pretty much put a fork in this staff. the only question left will be whether they whack them during the season and put an interim hc in place or they let them die on the vine for the remainder of the season.

so freaking unbelievable. i lived through the fairbanks era. i rejoiced in the rebirth under Mac. i suffered through the long slow and steady decline since Mac retired. i can't believe how far we've fallen. this is ****ing toledo you guys are whinging about. toledo. i get that the sheep can pull the upset-- it makes their season. but toledo? i can't imagine a clearer sign of a need to go a different direction if the Buffs lose to toledo.

gaaah.

If the buffs lose to Toldeo then Hawk and Bohn should both be gone.

Bohn cowtowed to the MAC to make this a home game for Toledo and he extended the CU CSU game for the next ten years.

I am not worried about our defense, it is our offense that has me worried.....our D seemed to make the right adjustments at the half, only gave 3 pts and CSU did not convert a 3 down in the second half....our offense needs to put up more then 17 points plain and simple, stop the stupid mistakes and play like a BIG 12 team.....

Big concerns for this game:

- CU's poor record on the road the last few years.
- Inability to score...I think if Toledo scores 31 CU will have a hard time winning.
- Short Week
- Lack of intensity.

I don't know if Toledo is any good or not but they certainly are going to be confident this game is winnable at home. CU has to strangle that confidence out of them.

they need to come out the first series of offense or defense and punch Toledo right in the nose, let them know that the team they saw on Sunday is not the same team they will see today

sheep dc called our o-line the p-word after the game. i would think the ol would want to demonstrate they are tougher than they showed on sunday.

freaking unbelievable.

well then, perfect team to take it out on....I think the BUFFS are going to play a physical game

I'm very concerned about our D. Toledo runs a pass-happy spread a la Missou. We all know how well our D has shown against the spread. If we can't get a running game going to eat up clock, and get lots of pressure on the QB, it will be a very long night...

Where did you hear that?

it was said after the game from the DC and the players from CSU, they thought with CU size on the line they would have been more physical.......but they played soft

dont get me wrong our D does worry me, but not as much as the offense.....it seems that our D does make the right adjustments and the needed stops, but our offense, well that is to be seen

i about fell out of my chair when Hawk compared Toledo's scheme to Mizzou. that's bad news. obviously, they lack a Maclin or Daniel but 11 of us could have scored 28 on our D the way we schemed them the last two years.

weird, because we've historically done well against Leach. even Okruch shut down Tech and Kingsbury (still one of the slowest delivery's i've seen in college football). but Mizzou has taken our lunch money and makes us like it prison-style.

I hope this has been passed along to Ryan Miller and the boys. Give them a little fire in their belly. A mountain west team called us pussies...hahahahahhaha, oh ****....how the mighty have fallen. HOWEVER, I still believe we'll rally and have a decent year. We're better than CSU...guess that cant be backed up now though

I love the new HIGHS COach Hack has taken us to. Man, we are a team to be feared. No f-in respect, and why should they? WTF has Talkins done to make anyone think otherwise?:sad2:

Whew. That's a relief...

26 posts in this thread and you hadn't been in to bitch about Hawk yet. I was afraid something had happened to you... :smile2:

When WAS the last time CU won at night and on the road?

"10 wins, no excuses" has now become, "One win, no excuses."

They lose this game and I may just stay clear of allbuffs.com, as it may cause my computer screen to blow up.
