Who is going to believe anything that he says? He has a serious issue here.

The guy has a serious credibility issue I think, at least with fans and obviously the media. I just hope he maintains whatever credibility he has left with the team enough to pull out a season that ends with any kind of bowl bid. Not only that, I think the style of play is ALMOST as important as winning games. The more of an identifiable style of play, the more chance of winning (IMHO). The team needs to formulate an identity and that quite soon.

This is a shipwreck, and all that Bohn can do is to try to salvage whatever treasure (players) and rescue lives (fans) in order to one day (hopefully soon) sail again into sunnier, calmer seas.

words won't save him now. they weren't going to save him before the season started either.

the time for words has passed. this staff needs to show they can win. all the objective evidence suggests otherwise. no one is buying the hawkisms anymore. the truth is on the field.

if the team rallies and wins about 8 games this year, then hawkins will have some of his credibility restored. if not, then he'll be either fired or on the hottest hotseat imaginable. they can't talk their way out of this. they have to coach their way out of it.

Why does it matter if people believe what he says? He doesnt care if you listen/believe or not. He is going to continue to sunshine pump and tell us what HE wants to tell us.

It matters a lot that people believe what he says. If he has no credibility, he's done. He has no more snake oil to sell. Like liver said, it's all on the field now. No more "we're just about there" BS. It's produce or die.

That is exactly my point! It shouldnt matter what comes out of his mouth...the only thing that should matter is the SCOREBOARD!

But for the last three years, it's been about stuff other than the scoreboard. It's been about laying the groundwork. Setting the table. Being the bow, not the arrow...

All that jive is gone now. The emperor is naked and we all know it.

Words could save him, problem is he's so full of $hit it's coming out of his ears.

Tell the truth!!!! Everyone is already tired of you, and refusing to be honest just makes you look like a jackass!

agree with every post in this thread. the only thing that matter now are W-L columns. we've done all the "isn't Hawk a great guy", "rebuilding the culture" and "we've got a formula" stuff and the gap between words and deeds is pretty big.

If I was givin the opportunity to ask Hawkins one question on his show, it would pertain directly to his credibilty, or lack thereof. I think the question would strike a raw nerve and get a nasty reaction out of him. Even if he beat around the bush with his answer, I believe it would leave him thinking that his image with alumni & the fan base needs to change. Then again???????

Funny thing seeing this thread. I was just having a conversation with a co-worker about this. She's a big Oregon State fan. For as much as I give her grief about the Beavers, the one thing I have to appreciate about their coach is that he doesn't go out and set up unrealistic expectations surrounding the program. I did not ask Hawk to say we would be thinking big. I did not ask him to say we should expect 10 wins this year. It's great to set lofty goals for a program but you have to be able to back it up.

Here's a page from the Shusker Nation, death threats to their families. :wtf: No one is spewing any of that nonsense; at most we are saying it's time Dan got his walking papers and allow another HC who can get it done pick up where he left off.

None of you guys would want to see me question him in public. Then again, maybe some of you would enjoy the beating?? It wouldn't be very nice. I'm not nice to people who bull**** me. He has no credibility left. It slowly eroded over 3 seasons until there was nothing left on Sunday. The start of the first year in 2006 was the same as the start of the fourth year in 2009 with very few bright spots in between.

I always pull the Buff players, but this coach has no credibility. Just ask Joel Klatt.

I did not mean it as a death threat, I ment it as fire him now:sad2:

buffwings-we can tell you're upset, but come on:wow:

What? huh? I'm just calling out the corn on how they treat their coaches when they are losing.

I dont think we need any of thar crap here. I simply think he needs to pack his bags (or just stay in Toledo) if he loses tomorrow night.

Hawk, at this point, reminds me of that fast food employee we have all come in contact with. I understand you don't have the best job in the world, but have some pride in your work...care about what you are doing. If I ask for no mayo, don't put mayo on it...it's not that hard. If the fans ask you to win games, don't leave anything on the table. There is no excuse for the lack of intensity and agressiveness...None. There is no excuse for not getting the ball to the playmakers. Have some pride in your work and give a ****, he may have a lot of good intentions...but intentions don't win games. Do the best you can do and see what happens. Have some pride in your work and give a ****. He preaches this character BS, he is not doing anything for the character of our young players if he is willing to teach them to accept mediocrity. Stop jilly-flickin' out there and play some GD football. This ain't intramurals brother, its D1 football. So put your ass on the line, stop making excuses, and give 100% everyday as a coach and instill a fighters mentality in your players. Put it all on the table.

"Jilly-flickin"?

Love the term, although I am not quite certain I know what it means.
