there are no ways to defend Dan

we've lost to CSU at home and Toledo in a year we were promised wins.

in the magic 4th year where the "formula" was in place.

by his own words, there is no excuse.

Dan seems like a good guy, but it ain;t about that anymore.

Bohn has to fire him.

Yep. Wyoming will not be a picnic either. They have a veteran-laden defense.

Really hard to believe it has gotten to this point.

I was really hoping last week was a fluke. :sad1:

As negative as you probably think I am... I was hoping the same thing.
We are just abysmal. There is nothing to point to as a bright spot right now.

The only bright spot is Scott but I fully expect to try and transfer at the end of the year.

I guess I viewed the criticism during the first couple of years as unfair to Dan. But there isn't any defending this. He has his kids in the program now. Experience is no longer an excuse.

Agreed, but the question is when. I think Bohn will let him finish out the season to see what he can do the rest of this season. And if we were to somehow manage to scrap together a 6-6 or even 5-7 season, I think Bohn might even give him another year.

The thing is man, your even keeled approach wasn't unreasonable. Ordinarily you would have been absolutely right to push for patience and positivity. For whatever reason though myself and a few others keyed in on the game day incompetence shown by this staff from the word go. We saw this happening like a slow motion train wreck. It gives me zero pleasure to have been right about this guy. I would give my spleen to see CU winning again. I just want this horrible era to be over and see us move on. Let an interim coach salvage what he can and then let's move heaven and earth to get a guy like Heater in here to build something.

Many here would disagree. :smile2:

Heater would be a awesome hire. But I'm not sure if Bohn will go with a "CU" guy.

There ain't no way we win 5 or 6 games this year. Everyone has the book on CU-- throw deep and win. Stack the line, blitz every down and win. If a MAC team can do it (not to mention at MWC team) EVERY b12 team will do it. Maybe have a shot at Wyoming, ISU and KSU. I don't see any way CU will win any other game than that, and possibly will drop 1 to 3 of those.

Oh yeah, Heater for HC, Bienimy for OC or at least co-OC with Kiesau (who I think will be good if free to play the best kids) and Cabral as DC.

Reaaaaaly want to see Chuck Heater come back here.

This was the sunshine line last week. How it's even thinkable that we will go 6-6 this year is beyond me. 3-9 is EXTREMELY optimistic based on all available evidence.

Probably not anywhere close to possible, but I would love to have Jon Gruden as our coach. We need to have someone with some passion, get these kids fired up. Kids would respond to him and he has the NFL background to clean up in recruiting. And I don't think the demand for him is that high (esp at the pro level). Could be our Pete Carroll...

Yeah. Not happening. NFL guys don't go to terrible college teams. Chucky knows he'll get another shot in the league and he's a young(ish) guy with a superbowl ring.

In no way do I see Shanahan or Gruden coming here. I just don't. Jmo though. They both know they'll get another chance in the NFL somewhere along the way. Or they'll become broadcasters and sit around doing nothing while watching football. Just can't see it.

Hell, the Toledo fans watched us for one game, and even they know how this works:

First off, my apologies to Colorado fans. I mean this as no disrespect to you loyal fans. I know how this feels as we had 3 bad seasons in a row.....however.......I gotta get this off my chest........now....while it's still fresh.

Toledo goes up 30 with 4 minutes left in the game....coach Hawkins calls timeouts while Toledo is on offense. He then proceeds to run a hurry up offense and stopping the clock as often as possible. No matter what...down 30....you WILL NOT WIN. He kept ALL of his starters in on both sides of the ball.

He then keeps his son in at QB and has him run a QB sneak. He is 5'11 and 190 pounds and nearly gets killed heading into the end zone for a meaningless score. He most likely has a concussion for a meaningless score.

This game should have ended about 45 minutes sooner if it was for coach Hawkins insisting on extending it. Everytime they scored Toledo answered. This game was OVER.

To all you Buffalo fans.....I really hope you get rid of this clown. He is a disgrace. This game was over and there was no use extending the game. This guy is NOT a class act.

Hold on just a moment. Coach Hawkins promised in December to an alumni group that this would be a 10-2 season, no excuses. If he and his Buffs run the table, well what do you say then?

Why he didn't give it to number 2 about 40times is beyond me- we had no answer for him- except kick it out of bounds.

I'm guessing momma Hawk isn't too thrilled with the coach at this time either.

Ehhhh, Im not on Hawk's side here but that post is full of errors. a) he didnt run a quarterback sneak. We were passing (what you do when youre losing..ech) and cody had daylight and scrambled. b) I have no problem with the game not being over 45 minutes before it was. **** em'. You dont just give up---whether the games in hand or not. As for starters though, I agree. c) We were on pace to hand the ball to #2 40 plus times but our ****ing defense couldnt stop them, so, not real logical, not matter how effective, to hand off in the second half down 20 plus points.

I'm about as down on the Hawk regime as someone can be, but I can still be objective and your post is spot on. The only thing that would have pissed me off more tonight would have been if the coaches had given up. CU does not stop fighting.
