i know everyone is pissed. i am pissed. this isn't CU football. i've received a dozen calls, 2 dozen texts, and about 10 emails from friends (both pro- and anti- Buff) this evening. everyone, even the non-fans, knows that this is not Buff football.

but, may i ask that we keep it civil? i want hawkins gone too.

here are my comments:

we have no team speed. we don't know how to utilize the talent we have. our defensive calls are horrible. and, we look totally confused in all 3 phases of the game. this screams for a coaching change. i would be surprised (pleasantly, i admit) if they pull the trigger before season end. but, i am dead-for-certain that this staff needs to go away.

it is just a matter of when now. if it isn't going to be now, then i'll do my best to be civil until the end of the year. that doesn't mean we have to like this. it is so far under the minimum bar that i don't even know what to say.

i never thought we'd see the fairbanks era again. well, here it is, right in our faces.

hold together, Buffs. this shall pass. it is just a question of timing.

If the AD and Hawk didn't like the Interwebs rabble before, they're really not gonna like us now. **** this **** they've given us.

Since I started posting here a year ago I've always respected your comments. I'm sure you're right and we should be civil. I know I frequently go too far but it's only because I care so damn much. I know a lot of guys feel like I do. Maybe it's absurd for grown men with families to give a crap about a game played by amateur athletes but here we are. God help us the rest of the year.

it is going to be a dreadful year, absent a miracle. this is the worst Buff team in nearly 30 years.

take solace in the fact that these guys will be gone. either now or at the end of the year, but they will be gone. no staff survives this unless they basically run the table the rest of the way.

It's really nothing personal against Hawk, he honestly seems like a great guy. I can see him being a good head coach somewhere so long as he surrounds himself with experienced assistant coaches. It just won't be here.

And that will always be the case as long as Colorado law precludes giving "state employees" either at most one year contracts ... or no contracts at all.

It took a special law passed during Neuheisel's tenure to even sign the head coaches of football and basketball at CU and CSU to more than one-year agreements. And it was limited to 5 individuals for each institution. CU has used them for football, basketball (mens and women's), and campus chancellors and the university president. In other words, assistant coaches have absolutely no job security vis-a-vis other out of state schools. If you were a hot prospect as a cooridinator or position coach ... would YOU take a job at CU if you had a better alternative available?

I'm with you on this Liver. I'm just hoping Mark Knudson and Scott Hastings can take your advice and be fair to this team too. Gonna be another tough week.

At least we can fire all of the assistants (minus cabral) without any trouble.

don't buy that-

csu doesn't and AFA don't seem to be having any issues

first. **** YOU.

Second: I love a lot of our players.

Third: I sent a very civil email to Bohn.

Fourth: **** you.
But first, **** hawkins.

I pledge to be civil out of respect to new arrivals like Ussery, Jefferson, Simmons, Evans, Grossnickle, West, Bakhtiari, Bonsu, Darden, Kasa and the other new recruits who are brand new arrivals in Boulder and who got swept up in this melt down. They are going to be homesick and uncertain about their future prospects. They don't need one more Internet scum piling on. I harbor nothing but admiration for the new guys in their choice to wear black and gold. I will be civil as a sign of my support and admiration for present and their futures.

I pledge to be civil because I see the potential of underclassmen who are just getting started. Guys like Polk, Givens, Hansen, Major, Pericak, Adkins and others are too new and too inexperienced to shoulder any blame or ill will.

I pledge to be civil out of respect to Stewart, Scott, Polk, Sumler, Behrens and the RB crew who have shown nothing but class in their public comments, in their work ethic, and on the field.

I pledge to be civil out of respect to the line backers who are asked to carry a mighty load.

All the players have talent and unharnessed potential. They have a long fall football season ahead of them. They have a black cloud over their heads. I will be civil out of respect for their sacrifices and their situation. I pledge that I support the university by supporting these players and their parents.

I pledge to be civil because the parents of the 2009 Buffaloes honored their kids' choices to become Buffs. The sacrifices they make to support their kid's football dreams are no easier when annonimous Internet posters pile on.

I pledge to be civil because I trust the alumni, the boosters, the former players, and the CU administration to do the right thing by these players. I believe that wheels are in motion, and that change is all but a foregone conclusion.

thanks, good post.

I have been thinking a lot about how the freshmen must be feeling - very few of them travelled to Toledo, so they are presumably in their dorm rooms feeling confused and conflicted. Bummed about the loss, of course, wondering if they could have made a difference, and trying to imagine a future that is better next year when they are on the field.

While meltdowns are inevitable with our ... disappointment ... it's good to remember we aren't the only ones affected. These kids had dreams for the future. I hope they stay on track and somehow find something positive to think about.
