Keys to Wyoming.

Never thought id see the day where we needed any keys to beating Wyoming for God's sake but here is my simple 2 cents. Im not gonna talk about X's and O's so much, hard to when we still dont have an identity. I think the biggest factor in this game for CU is a fast start. We have proved so far that we cant play from behind and our coach's lack the backbone to stick with the running game and abandon it far too quickly, at least imho. When I say fast start, I mean 10-0 or 14-0 in the first quarter or early second. I know that will help defensively, they can relax a bit and not be playing on eggshells. However, if I see the tackling or lack there of we had the past 2 games, the start wont matter. Coaches need to pull their head out quickly, most notably, Hawk, Collins, and Bandison. We all know the issues with the defense so Ill leave those right there. I hope after they pull their heads out, they can make the adjustments we need to make this week and there will be some as in every game. The sad thing is, alot of them were pretty simple adjustments that a high school coach could make. Example, when u have a speed receiver running vertical routes, u dont cover them with a lb unless he can flat run with that guy. We did that at least 3 times against Toledo and they either scored or got about 40 yards. I heard Hawk say something about film and what we have to do is right there just clean some things up. Well, Wyoming's coaches also watched that film by now. If they know that they can match up a speed guy on your lb and u wont adjust through the course of the game, they will exploit that all day long. Guess all we internet scum can do is watch and pray, in this case.

I believe u, all i know is it gets very ugly if we lose Saturday. Tell you the truth, I wouldnt mind us coming out and throwing the ball to start. Kinda like against Toledo in the 2nd half, that kind of tempo and then pound the rock. However, with some subtle changes. One have D Scott, Speedy, or Lockridge on the field even if Sumler is out there. Two, have at least one receiver that isnt a walkon on the field. We need Simmons, Jefferson, Wright, or someone that can stretch the field. Espy has heart but I dont think he is striking fear into the other team any time soon.

The WR's must be McKnight, Simmons, and Simas. And the OLine HAS to get it together.

I agree and they can help the oline by not running stuff that calls for complex blocking schemes. Hell, we just need to learn how to come off the ball before worrying about pulling, trapping, combos, etc... Id like alot of 3 step drops and get rid of the ball. That is what Cody is good at honestly.

I think it would be very helpful if our defense could find a way to stop Wyoming from scoring 50 points.

One more thing, DScott has to visit the endzone this week. As good as he played last week, he still doesnt seem as confident as he should be. I know the coaches have alot to do with that. If he wouldnt have got tripped up on that one play, he might have went nuts the rest of the game. I think if he can break one, and actually finish, we might start to see the back we were drooling over. Think it will take a ton of pressure off of him. Im ready for the days when DScott Knows he is the best player on the field. When that happens, he will be what everyone thought.

Keys to winning are:

-Show some emotion and pride. We are getting killed on line play, blocking, and tackling. Usually the guy who wants it more gets it.

-No more blown coverage. We'll need to be disciplined against this offense, which quite literally has owned us (in the form of Mizzou)

-Run for 200 yards + and win the turnover battle

If we do all of those things, we win by a FG

Yea, if the O-line could just give Cody 20 or 30 seconds we would kill WY.

Opelt was under as much pressure as Cody; Oplet knew where to go with the ball, and scrambled and made plays. We should beat Wy, but it will be a long season if we don't start playing the talented players in a scheme they can understand.

The keys to the game is:
1. For the coaching staff to stop trying to put square pegs in round holes.
2. If they are going to insist on using Cody. Fast tempo play calling and run the ball. The defence will get tired and the run will be effective.

I think we should go shotgun spread no huddle. As long as CH doesn't run it. If we do that, and add in the proper "groupings", clean up the little things and keep battling, we'll be fine Saturday...or at some undefined point in the future.

Sacky, you just can't get hung up on which team scored what, as long as CU is doing the right things, we'll be fine, that's life...you know there's no scoreboard in life...gosh I love that game...but boy it's hard to get those little pegs to stay in the car sometimes...seriously, those pegs aren't much bigger than that kidney stone I passed...boy did that hurt...can I have a cookie now? Is this mic on?....(show breaks away to commercial)

I jest, I jest.

I think CU's key to beating any team at this point is fire from each player on-field. Mind-made-up fire, offense and defense, for the first half and then after the break, the same, no matter the plays called, no matter the coaching decisions, just on-the-field balls to the wall fire from whistle to whistle.

I have seen consistent improvement from Keisau since the beginning of the season. I liked our calls in the first half last week. If not for Cody overthrowing receivers, tons of holding by the Oline, and some awful drops, we would have been in that game. plus I loved seeing Scott run. I wish they would have played him in the 2d half, but ****, can't have everything. The defense was just so terrible there was no way for us to get into that game...

That said, 3 points when it mattered. However, I LIKED what I saw. The problem, for the most part, was NOT the play calls. Plus, LESS GROUPINGs!

I think Keisau is finding his rhythm, and if he would play his talented guys (who is making that decision, Hawk or him?... Would love to know, its really would determine what I thought of Keisau), I think he could run a decent O.

Basically, long story short, I expect to see us start to find an identity on Offense unless our Defense makes that impossible... (AGAIN)

I was being sarcastic, but I suspect you know that. There were some bright spots (Scott), but CU looks so inept and I can't help but wonder how it would be if the best 11 were on the field the majority of the game instead of running a Chinese fire drill...

Scott looked fine, but remember that he was running against a team that gave up something like 300 yards on the ground the week before to a predominantly passing Purdue team.

true, but at least Keisau was giving him that chance, even when the team went down by 13, etc. He ran right up until the team collapsed towards the end of the 2d. Lots of straight ahead runs behind the guards... Actually calling plays that went to teh strength of the players on the field... I haven't seen that in YEARS.

I believe position coaches are the ones who decide who is on the field at any given moment. I could be wrong, but I don't think Kiesau has any say in that.

Enough with the O-Line penalties. I lost count of how many big plays they negated.

it might come true:sad1:

Let's just relax let the game play itself out and cheer or worry about it after it's said and done. Have a little faith everyone maybe Toldeo and CSU are as good as they played against us. I'm still waiting for Stewert Mandel to write his article on Toledo....

csu almost lost to weber state, they are dog**** as well.

The key to beating Wyoming is the Throwback Jerseys.

If enough people buy them, maybe, just maybe CU can afford to let Hawkins go.
