Anyone else just get the mass email from Coach Hawk:

Dear Buff Fans,
I just wanted to say thank you for Saturday. It was awesome to see over 50,000 fans fill the stands. For you to show up and be supportive and enthusiastic, that was awesome. The students were great and showed up early and we need that.
This is a great place and we all need to hang together and go in the same direction. Talk about feeling some loyalty; when you're 0-2, and you see that many people there to support you, that's big time. It was a great feeling to see all of you there. Your passion for Buff football is a great thing.
Go Buffs!
Coach Hawk

Hopefully he isn't talking out his ass and is inspired to really thank us by busting his hump and getting us to a bowl game

That's all he knows how to do. Believe me, he's just talking out his ass. I'm done buying his jive.

I sense Mike Bohn at work here. He was working the stands Saturday, shaking hands and thanking the fans for their support. I would guess he suggested to Hawkins that he send out an e-mail doing the same...

This is an appropriate thing to do by coach in the circumstances, regardless of his motivation.

He should be thanking Mike Bohn for working his tail off to get people into the stands. Those folks didn't just wake up on Saturday morning and say "hey, let's go pay $50 per ticket to watch two crappy football teams today".

Should be thanking him for a long list of things...hmmm let me see:

1. Hiring him in the first place
2. Hyping the crap out him...Mr. "Homerun" hire
3. Giving him an extra 3 years on the contract without proving a lick on the field
4. Nice cool 3 million bucks even if he flops further

Each of these are another reason why Bohn's out there working the seats...

No, a lot of them looked online sometime during the week and said "hey, 4 of us can go watch two crappy football teams play for $40 on Saturday". That promotion put a lot of asses in the seats, which I credit Bohn for...

For what it's worth, he sounded pretty sincere when he said the same thing on 850 after the game.

4Dem,

You remember that time you, you referenced that old Chris Farley skit.

That was awesome.

Of course.

And recognition that it is public relations at its face-to-face best on the part of the AD (the in-the-stadium hand-shaking), and at its communication best (the email) on the part of the Head Coach, reminds us of its rather lurid alternative: to remain silent in the face of waning public support.

Indeed he did. He also sounded sincere when he kept saying "it's on me" and that he knows he needs to do a better job. People bitching about his postgame comments must be talking about some comments other that the ones I heard on 850.

Call me skeptical, but I think he took a lot of heat for the douchy arrogant behavior he was displaying and this is PR driven BS.

Is it just me? Somehow that doesn't sound like a Div. 1 HC's written words...I know they have assistants and maybe somene was told to send out a group email thanking the fans for their support...and some student wrote it. It just doesn't sound like something an adult would write.

But then again, we are talking about Hawkins....

 Words an phrases like Awsome, and Big time. That sounds exactly like Hawk.

Pretty much exactly what he said on the radio, so yes I guess it was a Div. 1 HC's words.

As long as Hawk understands that I was there supporting the players and CU, I think the email was nice. He has a long way to go before I support him again. A win and some personal accountability for the losses (followed by this thank you) was a good first step, though.

Yes he sounded sincere on the radio and the email has a nice touch to it. BUT have you heard how he acted in the media room after the game? His hubris with the media will get him killed. You can't seek support from the fans and alums without the media.

Yea. I agree there. But Ringo either needs to give up his rivals gig or his DC gig. I'd be pissed out that guy too.

I just got the same e-mail. Did you buy the $40 package by any chance??

I was :pissed3: when I read Woody Paige's article about Hawk going off on the media. I believe DH's letter to the fans was just too late...if he didn't go off on the media after the game, we would be all reacting differently and perhaps more favorably towards DH.

EDIT: Mike Bohn has really worked hard for CU and that is why I am hesistant to consider MB on the hot seat myself.

i liked the email. I liked his comments post game for the most part. I DO NOT LIKE HIS COMMENTS TOWARDS THE MEDIA... ****ing retarded.

Like Junction said, it is probably Mike Bohn at work here.

Would that be a bad thing?

Sounds like a good AD, to me. At least in the PR department. Losing the home fan base, and possibly those Buffs fans at large who watch the games on TV around the country, would be financially negative for the university.

I doubt if the conferences and meetings wherein this all is being discussed includes less than the Chancellor, regents and contributors, as well as Bohn and company.

They have to have a strategy, and like it or not, Dan Hawkins is a part of that strategy, for now at least.

It's not a bad thing at all. My point in bringing that up is that it doesn't convince me at all that Hawkins "gets it" in terms of P.R. or showing some humility for all the support his program continues to get. Those have always been Bohn's trademark, and I think that e-mail has his fingerprints all over it...

I do not believe for a second that Juice Box sat down and wrote that email.

Bohn wrote it and made Juice put his name to it.
