Continuity in the O-line is a problem

The DP is reporting this morning that they are still dickering with the offensive line. They are juggling where to play Behrens, Bahr, Adkins, and Miller. Other than Solder and at center, there is zero stability on the line. While the continued changing of O-line coaches is an issue, all these guys have been in the program at least a couple of years, shouldn't there be a little more stability than this?

Lack of any continuity on the line is a big part of the offensive struggles, imo.

I read that as well and could not agree more with you. WTF? Here we are, a month into the season, and we are still trying to figure out our O line. Even I, Mr. Sunshine, call BS on that. Hey, Denver, lets get it together!

Why is Miller playing guard to begin with?

This.

When I first heard they were going to be putting Givens at tackle, with Miller at guard, I thought it was a typo. Seems to me it ought to be the other way around. But hell, I'm not a coach, so I don't know squat.

Maybe we should get the O line involved with the player groups like everyone else on offense.

Run up the middle, Miller is in, two yard pass Adkins gets to play. I love seeing 3 or four players running on or off the field on any given play, how much better would it be if every play we had like 9 subs trying to get to the line for the snap.

That would be a complete cluster ****.
 Don't give Hawk any ideas.

I am really hoping the Oline shows up big for this game. They did play better last week, but they are not near where I would have expected them to be. I wish we could get an O-line coach to stay around at CU. Seems like this has been a problem for several coaching staffs. Not just this one.

This would be fun to watch if executed properly in the style of noted offensive gurus Hanna-Barbera. We'd get to see the O-Linemen scramble on and off the field like Josie and the Pussycats chasing villains while they blast campy go-go music through the stadium. Like, Givens runs on when he's not supposed to and a ref chases him off and they disappear on the sidelines and then come back on with Givens chasing the ref.

Sound completely farcical? So did a lot of things that ended up happening this season.

The other position groupings already telegraph what the play is, might as well go all out and put the best grouping forward if the opponent is going to know what you're going to run anyway.

Then the police arrest Hawkins, pull off his mask and it's Chuck Fairbanks underneath. He predictably says, "I would have gotten away with it it if weren't for my moribund offense."

I honestly believe that the coaching staff's inability to find an offensive identity and stick to it is the issue here. They've had a different offense every year and there is no way an offensive line can get any sort of continuity while going through that. Changing splits, changing techniques, changing coaches, changing offenses. Just feels like Hawk & Co are bound and determined to make their life harder.

:rofl2: My kids watched Scooby Doo last night on DVD.

The scooby doo movie was such a disappointment.

IMO what would really help the O-Line is a new QB. A stronger arm to lengthen the field and back up the LB’s and safeties, a little scrambling not so quick to blitz, taller to see the field, , more accuracy, and quicker reads, all that takes pressure off.

I bet a new QB could help improve the housing market as well.

:yeahthat: Anyone know where we could find such a player to do this?

Why should this year be any different? This happens every year around this time like clockwork. We're always talking about new, inexperienced guys finding themselves. Granted last year was mostly due to injuries, but in the other years it has just been the coaching staff not sticking with certain players. At some point, that HAS to have an effect on the confidence of the players.

Why don't they just stick with 5 and actually coach them, improve them ?

Solder and miller at Tackle, iltis at center and behrens and bahr at guard. Unless tuioti is ready than I would switch him with bahr. Be nice if we had devin head.

It amazes me that these coaches can't settle on a group and stick with it. This musical chair system is only hurting the team. After 4 years they can't figure out a starting 5?

I'm sure the only reason they don't is because some of them are, "a little banged up" .

It would be nicer if we had Kai Maiava.

Out of curiosity. How is he doing down at UCLA? Has he been getting any playing time?

And just to make it absolutely clear. This is not in jest or sarcasm. I am really curious.

Full time starter. Same Kai, hard worker, run blocks very well, saw him get dominated in the passing game agaist some very average DTs. He looks to be very strong but his short arms let people get to his body and turn him easily.

I bet he'd be a hell of a FB, though...I wonder why nobody's thought of that?:smile2:
