The one who hit open receivers, who didn't lock on to only one guy (sometimes), and had fire and could lead his team back even if they were down?

This older cody just can't play.

Mea Culpa: I was wrong about him. He's getting worse, not better, and is really hurting this offense. How he plays in games is completely different then how he practices... Sucks for the kid, cause you know he's not mailing it in :sad1:

He's not getting worse. He's the same player but defensive coordinators have 3+ years of film on him and they know what he can and can't do. He's a really smart kid. I was impressed by how he came out and looked sharp on our first drive. Yes it fizzled but between the twenties he was making sharp timing throws and I think he made a few adjustments at the line. The problem is that when the scripted plays run out and we settle into 'even strength' situations the opposing team is already dialed in on what Cody and the offense are going to do. It's not his fault that our talent is low and our scheme is too absurdly complex to compete with the good teams. I'm afraid the rest of this year is going to be very very unpleasant and then we have a 9 month wait to do it all over again.

young cody didn't overthrow wide open receivers... They just dropped them

Props to you SB. You were a vocal advocate for CH, I disagreed. Not many have the stones to say what you said under the circumstances. Honestly, I wish you had been right....:sad1:

:yeahthat:This is the key...after Cody's first 7 games the defense knew what to take away from him to totally take him out as a factor in the game. That is why the "better is practice" argument is somewhat suspect. I doubt they are game planning against Cody in practice.

I personally think it's an issue of him getting shaky feet after getting blasted a ton last year. Can't blame him either, he took some vicious hits. That's imo why he is so impressive in practice then so awkward in games.

Everytime Cody throws it, it seems like we all hold our breathe and hope that it's not gonna be intercepted.

He didn't get worse. He just doesn't get to throw against drop zone defense as much. The win at Tech in '07 was the beginning of the end for Cody. We won, but our future opponents got a real good look at the weaknesses in his game. They started walking their D-backs up on us, and sending guys. When teams start playing drop zone after games are out of reach, Cody still looks like he did the first half of '07.

This... = Cody now.... It's a bit of both I think. He definitely changed after EWU and FSU roughed him up. Hasn't been the same since. The gameplannig just makes it worse.

X 10! I also thought Cody would be decent last year. Playing on a run-first/play-action team with alot of help, I think he might have managed well enough to win 7-8 games. Throwing 20-25 times per half? No way.

You are kidding yourself if you think that Cody lit the world on fire in 2007. I don't want the 2007 Cody. I'd argue that he's pretty much the same quarterback. It wasn't that the 2007 Cody was acceptable. He finished at the bottom of the Big 12 as well. It was that he was a freshman and we expected him to dramatically improve like most freshman do. That did not happen because of his limited physical skills. Remember all the buzz last year about how he hit the gym and really increased his arm strength? We wouldn't have been talking about that if we thought the 2007 Cody was good.
