There's a chance, albeit unlikely, that we get through the season at 7-5, make a crappy bowl, win it, and still end up with 8 wins. Missouri, *ebraska, KSU, ISU, KU and A&M are all games that if things go our way, we could walk away with wins. Unlikely, but possible. Have any of those teams really impressed so far?

Even if that happens, this team sucks. I still want a change. Hawk's jive act has worn thin.

Sacky, fortunately or unfortunately, I do not think you will have to worry about this happening.

Still comes down to the fact many of those teams can score points. Not sure we have the offense to win more than a couple Big 12 games.

Since it won't happen it is pretty much a moot point. But if CU goes 7-5 regular season, that is minimum acceptable to me at season's beginning and I say he deserves another year, all that matters is W-L's, and that means we go 6-2 starting now, which ain't bad. Of course, like I said, not gonna happen.

There is zero chance of that happening. Realize this: we already went 1-2 against CSU, Toledo, and Wyoming. How are we going to beat teams with organized offense, passable defense, that have been taught to block and tackle?

color me ecstatic with 7 wins. i'm looking at more like 3 or 4.

if Hawk was coming out and saying "right now, we are not a very good football team and that's on all of us....coaches and players. we've got to work harder and get better".

maybe i could get on board. as it is, he's full of nonsensical "there's nothing wrong here" stuff and blame on external and often mysterious forces. in year 4, being young and inexperienced isn't something that's out of your control or beyond the scope of accountability. no credibility with the man at this point. a little hyperbole and rah rah is OK. straight up nonsense or "say this, do that" is what we are getting.

this is about to be our 3rd year in a row to finish last in the conference on offense. that sounds like a structural feature of the offense more than an anomaly to me.

Hey, if we run the table the rest of the way, we go 11-3. I would consider that a successful season. You know what else I would consider it?

No more impossible than this team winning 5 games in Big 12 play.

This is the thinking that I don't get. IF(and it's a BIG if) we really end up with 8 wins, how in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks can you still call for Hawk's head? Remember, that would mean winning 7 of the next 9. That means the team would be playing well (actually, exceptionally well). I'm not saying you give him another extension after 8 wins, but clearly, that would be showing some progress.

I always thought the buffs played well at home under Hawkins, then I looked at his record in Folsom.

It's 9-10:sad1:

Simple: because he's been exposed as a bullsh*t artist. I can't believe a damn word the man says anymore. If some miracle occurs and they do win 8 games this year, it will be because the players themselves do some effective self-coaching and get their collective act together.

Probably right, but I get frustrated when I see that some people have become so attached to the "anti Hawkins" train, that even winning out the rest of the way wouldn't be good enough.

I'm not drinking - yet. I didn't say this scenario was likely, just technically possible. Realistically, I'd put the chances of the Buffs winning 7 games this year at about 5%. That means every bounce has to go their way, every call goes their way, and they get some help from the opposition. Even when that happens, they still lose. Look at WVU. Four turnovers in the first half and NOTHING to show for it? Unreal.

No. See, a drunk person looks at the entire season as a bucket of sh*t, without the remotest possibility of redemption. Remember, alcohol is a depressant. A sober person looks at the season and says "We stink on ice, and the chances of success are about the same as me scoring a double team with Jessica Alba and Scarlett Johannsen, but it could technically happen".

mmmm, Scarlett Johannsen

Wait a second. I find it extremely hypocritical to put all of the blame for the losses on the coaching staff but then say that if they manage to do well the rest of the season it's all on the players. I'm with Spiff on this one. If we pull out 8 wins, the staff will easily have showed me the progress I wanted to see. It doesn't make up for how bad this year started but it would be enough.

Of course, I'm not going to have to worry about it, so this whole discussion is pointless.

It's not hypocritical at all. I'm giving the coaching staff no credit for any success they have because I think Hawkins is a bullsh*t artist. He's a conman. A snake-oil salesman. If the team manages to win, it will be in spite of the coaching, not because of it.

barring some amazing gameday coaching, I really agree with this. Hawk usually comes up with a bad ass gameplan or two per year, but that is more then matched by a few completely awful and pathetic gameplans. Not to mention a complete lack of fire in the team for every game but NU... if they can't even get up for hte CSU game nowadays.. :puke:

Fair enough. If they manage to win 8 games I'll gladly hash this one out with you. No reason to argue about unicorns and leprechauns.

4-8 is the best we can hope for right now. It pains me to say that, and it is far from a slam dunk that CU will get to four W's.
