Painful...but funny...

I would laugh harder if it were about another team, but this quote pretty much sums it up for me:

This “running” will happen until we stop them and then Cody Hawkins will throw every down, like a paperboy with palsy.

And other gems:

If Colorado manages more than 13 points, then someone fumbled inside our ten.

We will win big. I have no idea about this covering a 32.5 point line business as Colorado has an extraordinary ability to score mercy touchdowns against bored defenses

Colorado FG kicker Aric Goodman has missed 38 consecutive field goals. I’m almost certain of this statistic, though, admittedly, I did not look it up.

I couldn't help but laugh at this one.

I  because it's all true

I'd like to find that Colorado blogger thy were talking about and get a little bit of whatever they were smoking!

Can't deny the many truths in here. He speaks of nepotism, I wonder how many others outside of Buffdom view it the same way??

I imagine that people outside the fan base actually talk about it more than people inside. They just see the coaches son as the QB on an under performing team and assume that must be the case. We hear all of the quotes about how it's not so and Hawk had no voice in the decision, etc.

Credit where credit is due. That **** was really, really, really funny. It might be the best submission that I've read yet from him.

But painful too.

I think about half the Buff Fans think that it is the case...

Our starting QB is a 3rd year starter and he is not even ranked in the top 100 in passing efficiency. The YPA has hovered around 5.5 for 2 years now, that is totally unacceptable. Even Ryan Thornburg alluded to the fact there was no QB competition in Fall camp.

CU features exactly 100% more Caucasians at safety than is advisable (two). I’m not talking about mean country white boys. I mean Cau-casian. We’re talking 4.85 40

This quote also stood out at me.

My favorite was this part:

"CU’s defense is balanced: they give up 201 yards rushing and 207 yards passing per game. You can only get that sort of balance with meditation, harmony, and five white starters from Durango. "

It gave me a balance of laughter and crying...:sad1:

I only ever made one comment about how umm... pale we are in a lot of areas and I found out quickly that it's verboten to mention. Unless you're the laserbrains at barking carnival I suppose.

No, it's still inappropriate. There's just less of a convenient forum to respond at Barking Carnival.

It's water under the bridge for me. Just would like to point out that the fact that it's unpleasant and inconvenient doesn't automatically mean it's invalid. It's readily apparent that we have a statistically unusual number of caucasian starters. All I'm saying is that it's atypical and if like BC says they were big mean country white boys we'd all be thrilled. I was a HUGE fan of John Lynch for example. Anyway, I'm not trying to start up a fight concerning race. It just seemed salient to comment on their 'analysis'.

Barking Carnival was further making a distinction between scrappy white farm kids and those raised in softer suburban environments, which I viewed as the foundation of the joke.

Well yeah. That's the distinction I wish I could have conveyed when I first commented on the WR's. It was less about them being white (Ed McCaffrey was white and a great player) and more about them being caucasian in the sense that BC said. Whatever though it's a moot point, and I agree that in most circumstances it's inappropriate to bring up race.

There's a real discussion to be had about race and sports. There's no denying that defensive backfields are typically dominated by black players; the same can be said of other skill positions on offense as well. The real trick is to hold that dialogue without making assumptions about any individual athlete based on race.

It's totally fair, however, to make assumptions about individuals based on "Longmont Honor Student" bumper stickers.

Agreed.

don't touch the spread "the colorado offense has a knack for scoring mercy td's against bored defenses"

Going against Colorado’s defense is a little like getting a date with Angelina Jolie. It’s just a question of which way you’d like to screw them.
