Interesting comments from Ringo and Thornburg

on Buff Zone. They commented that talented players don't seem to get on the field at CU and other teams are going to start using that against them in recruiting.

Be sure to watch both parts. QB competition discussed in the second part.

*SIGH* That's tough to hear. I know it's been said on here but that's just so much more, real?

If Ringo's bald ass says it, it must be gold. ha. We can all (mostly) agree that a new coach is needed asap, and I think its going to happen, but, let's not panic because of what Kyle Ringo says. His insight is no more valid then what any of ours is. Pure opinion based on very little if any inside knowledge.

People have been saying the exact same thing on this board for weeks.

So does Ringo believe this, or has he been reading this board for story ideas.

I know there have been several different posts but it is time to start playing the young guys and getting them the game experience they will need for next year.

I'm sure this has been used to some extent since Cody became our QB. But in fairness, there's more likely a shorter list of whats not said during recruiting than what is said.

On the plus side, this will really help our recruiting with mediocre athletes:thumbsup:

What a ridiculous observation. How many years are left on Ringo's contract, and how much to buy him out?

Wouldn't surprise me at all. He could be reading the scout board for story ideas, but it would make a lot more sense to look someplace where people actually post.... :smile2:

gee, ya think?

if there is not a coaching change.... you think the last couple of years of GB were bad with recruiting? you aint seen notin yet.

no way, no how, CU even sniffs anyone in the top 100 let alone a decent amount of 3 stars. (i know, i know.... a star debate is not needed)

this class may fill out the scholy limit but, it wont be making any top 75 lists i can guarantee that and i dont follow recruiting.

not only will CU finish at the bottom of the Big XII for the '09 season in football, they will also finish at the bottom for recruiting in Feb of '10 if a change is not made.

and all of that talent/progress in filling those gaps in the roster will be gone with one class.

to me, seems like common sense. not going to be good unless a change is made.

Most likely not if Hawk continues his recruiting practices of the last couple seasons. But hey, Hawk can continue preaching how bad it was when he took over that way.

im sure it will be a couple of little things that keep him from filling out the class but it may fill out with some late walkons/transfers but, we'll see.

The sooner that fool leaves, the sooner we can start rebuilding again, and return at least to respectability.

It's painful watching these guys saying diplomatically what we've been saying emphatically for a while. Our talented players are not getting on the field. For the umpteenth time let me say that if DS or any of the 'talented' players turned out to not be as good as our walk-ons it means there's something desperately wrong in our recruiting. I think it's Ringo that points out that other coaches are going to use this against us. I'm guessing this cycle is going to be filled with coaches saying "don't go to CU, you'll sit behind walk-ons indefinitely".

The saddest thing of all is listening to the mental gymnastics they have to put themselves through to even envision a 6-6 finish for us. Unbelievable that this is what we've been reduced to. Time was a 6-6 finish was cause for weeping and gnashing of teeth because we expected better. Now... 6-6 is so far off that we have to aspire to someday get there.

the saddest thing is Stewart has beaten out Scott and then they go on to say Scott should play because he's the highest recruit we've had? That is BS. Scott needs to play better and perhaps he can't.

Ringo also states Cody is playing b/c he is the best QB on the team. That's a different problem but it's not a situation where Hawkins' is playing his son due to favoritism.

Scott hasn't had the chance to play better since he's hardly played at all. Scott is more of a bruiser than a danger to break a huge run off at any moment (a la Stewart). This necessitates carries and pounding it down the throat of the opponents, so the big runs happen when they're worn out in the second half.

You would think this would be easy enough to do since CU basically has no talent at the QB position, and since its "best" QB has the worst passer efficiency rating in the league.

But no, instead he's second in pass attempts.

It should not have taken a rocket scientist to figure out what type of runner Scott is and what system he would succeed in. If he wasn't going to fit in, Hawkins did him a great disservice by recruiting him, and then not putting him in a position to succeed.

And you're burying your head in the sand if you don't think recruiters from other schools are going to use the fact that Hawkins son and his buddy the walk on are starting at WR over more highly touted recruits. It's just common sense.

Did they say he should play in place of Stewart? That false choice seems to be popping up quite a bit lately...

honestly, i can't think of anyone worth a **** needing to say anything bad about the buffs at all. it pretty much speaks for itself these days. it is a huge cluster**** upthere.

Ringo should just go ahead and change his name to "Tool," maybe with a middle name of "The."
