CU can win the north...

call me crazy, but, the team that played tonight CAN win the North. This is not an excuse for DH in anyway nor a reflection of his job performance before we even go down that road. THE TEAM, that one that didnt show it was completely out-classed by one of the best, if not THE best team in the nation, the team that solved enough things to go from a sieve to dominating Texas's offense. This team, with a spark from TH and the continued playing/growth of our WR corp, can beat everyone left on the schedule.

Kansas is huge now.

Yeah, lets not go nuts. At this point I'm just hoping to build a solid foundation going into next year. Hawk or no Hawk this thing needs to get fixed. We can't be taking half a season to get up to full speed every year. It's on the coaches to have the team as close to 100% as possible for game 1. Let's hope that's the case next year.

I'm not saying they will, im saying the team we saw tonight, passion and all, could win the North. Who else in the North could've played that "close" of a game??? Nebraska? Maybe.

No, cornbraska doesn't have anything for Texas and they know it. Maybe... if they're lucky they'll get to find out personally in the CCG. The fusker defense is quite respectable but most of us watched the mizzou game that offense with watson calling the plays can't beat the longhorns. Texas overlooked us tonight and then woke up and stomped us. They wouldn't overlook the fuskers, they'd blaze away on offense and storm the gates on defense.

I dont know if they woke up and stomped us. Really dont. Special teams and penalties beat us. They were PISSED coming out of halftime and got stopped cold. Their offense couldnt do ****, ALL night. After waking up, before waking up, whenever. Not to go all DH on your ass, but, it was the little things tonight.

I think Suh would give any team a major obstacle. Pelini is the master when it comes to defense. Look how close the VT game was. I think they could beat Texas, and I'm a Husker hater. I root for any team playing against them, but you have to admire what Pelini has done. 9 wins his first year, and probably 9 or 10 this year. Juicebox's record is now 14 - 28, for every game he wins, he loses 2. That's 18 or 19 wins for Pelini in his first 2 years - Juicebox won't do that in 4 years.

Wasnt comparing Dan Hawkins and Pelini. I was saying the team that showed up tonight (last night?) could win the north.

its possible but not likely, Kansas is very beatable. Nebraska would be the real test. Missouri, well depends if they are in these guys heads? They have absolutely killed us twice but thats what u get when u run zero with guys that cant play man, except for JSmith.

KU, MU or NU "could" have played them that close. Hell, even ISU and KSU "could" have. We are not clearly better than either KSU or ISU (we at least haven't shown it if we are), and we have definitely not shown to be on the level of NU, KU or Mizzou.

I dont think it was so much Texas playing down as CU finally started playing. They have more talent but CU makes it a game if they dont make a few mistakes, thats all it takes when u play a good team.

That would have been a much different game last night had Cody not thrown the Pick 6. We score a TD there, and it would have been REALLY interesting.

I'm with ya, brutha! Personally, I think KU is still the team to beat in the North. If we can pull the upset next week, I like our odds against MU and NU, both in Folsom.

I could become the president too. But probably not gonna happen.

Why would you want to be Pres when you're already the bloodthirsty dictator of a banana republic in the form of the basketball forum? :smile2:

P.S.....we are not winning the North. UT played down to its competition, and still won by 24.

The D gave up 17 points to the number 2 team in the nation, on the road...sounds better than how you put it.

Phrasing things in a manner which might be flattering to Hawkins' and his staff isn't exactly Mania's strong suit.

Pardon me for not seeing many ways to flatter a coach who has won only half as often as he has lost while at CU.

Show me results. This cheerleading bull**** got old 2 years ago.

Results, please.

Buffmania is a douche bag who doesn't know **** about college football.

What are some of the gems you're dumbass tried selling in the off-season.

Didn't one of us say CU would return to the Top25? It sure wasn't me.

Didn't one of us say Simmons was going to make an immediate impact? It sure wasn't me.

I could probably continue on the things you've shown to be wrong on, but I don't want to be up all night.

You're wrong on everything, yet you're going to claim I'm the one who doesn't no a thing about college football?

cool thing is they will see them in the ccg, and if we can stop their run do you think suh and co. will be able to? texas is overrated, were even overrated by judging your post and next week please come back and post about how we should win the north after kansas comes to town. i mean 2 quarters of not getting routed and your a believer? cu has hit the ****s, and the fans are becoming delusional

We still have fundamental issues on offense and special teams that are not suddenly going to go away considering they have been apparent for the entire Hawk tenure. When you have issues in two of three phases, the other phase (in this case, the defense) better be dominant. Is the defense improving? Yes. Are they dominant enough to carry a team? No.

I agree. I think those who feel TH is going to come in and be a messiah are going to be in for a surprise. He does give the Buffs a better chance to win with every game of experience he gains though.
You can't have 20 penalties and less than 125 yards of offense and feel that everything else is ready to go as soon as we get the right QB in. It will be a reach for us to win the north but after the defensive showing and QB switch I do have more hope than I did a week ago. It looks like we can at least be competitive for the rest of the season.
