:thumbsup::thumbsup:.....way to go tonight, you guys played your hearts out. Nice to see some of this team starting to look good.....GO BUFFS!!!!

Props to these guys, they played their hearts out and physically dominated texas.

Played great, very aggressive, got a pick. Jalil needs to pick it up a bit but shipley's pretty good. Burton, kasa, smith and west played well. Didn't see major much ...

DLine stepped their game up big time, LBs kept everything in front of them, and with the exception of two or three plays, the secondary locked it down. If the D plays like this for the rest of the season, we have a chance to win any game.

I'll drink to that. The D gave up 17 points to the #2 team in the country. They scored the other 21 on two punt returns and an interception return.

:dito:

We couldn't have asked for more from the D tonight.

Great job D!!

The Defense looked really strong. They will be a force that will be noticed if the intensity continues from this game.

That's what impressed me about the d the most this game. Our young Dline went toe to toe with that big fat Horn Oline and completely neutralized them. 37 yard rushing by UT?!!! That's awesome! We just need the Dline to start getting a little more pressure when pass rushing.

Overall, I'm psyched with the improvement.

They played Great! UT doesn't have the Devine-type RB, but we didn't give up all the deep throws we did against Toledo - improvement!!

Excellent, excellent defensive effort tonight. I would be surprised if another defense this season holds Texas to 17 points, especially in Austin. Texas only had 46yd rushing, averaging 1.8yd per attempt. It's hard to believe this is the same defense Devine sliced up last week.

For the most part the secondary play was solid as well. Texas had a couple of big plays, but most of the completions were made against good coverage. If we can get this effort every week, we should be in every game left on the schedule (assuming offense and special teams doesn't give up 21 pts every week).

:yeahthat: We had a couple of lapses, but McCoy threaded a needle a few times.

:congrats:to Jimmy Smith.
You've barely heard his name this year, and as a DB that's a good thing. Tonight he made some big plays. A couple tough ones, but is my vote for defensive MVP for the simple fact that as the secondary has been ripped as of late, no one has mentioned Smith..

Several of the young guys got into the game and played well, too: Kasa, West, Doug Rippy.

Is Rippy alright, btw?

Yeah they played great. My only gripes are leaving Jalil on an island against Shipley, just not fair to ask that of him. Smart in pass coverage is another that just hurts me to watch as I think McCoy was actually keying on him.

The defense was great tonight and I'm very proud of them laying it all out there on the field. They had frustrated a Heisman-level QB for awhile. I was fearing it would be much worse. While the final score was ugly, the game really wasn't. Good job D! Keep it up and maybe this season can be salvaged!

I don't think there are many cornerbacks that wouldn't have bit on the fake by Shipley when he had his TD. He also was forced to make incredible catches along the sideline which told me the DB that was on his had very tight coverage.

Hardly any missed tackles this game, no arm tackles. Props to the defense, they have kept us in this game, the CSU game and the first three quarters of the WV game. Great job D!

Polk doesn't shy away from contact and has speed. Kasa had the nice sack, but would have liked to see Major. There is talent on our defense, but Perkins makes me worry. It was also good to see Mohler playing again, and no Manke.

Agree, he's not ready now, but we'll see him in spot duty this year, and he'll keep one of the safety spots FAST once Burney leaves.

I thought Perkins played ok tonight, he seemed to be around the ball a lot and seemed to be flying in there.

Polk might very well be all Big 12 when all is said and done. Dont tell him anything other than find the football and go get it. Just let the guys play and stop thinking so damn much.

I'd really like to see them just play Burney at safety and rotate Polk and Perkins. They have the makings of good safeties, just not the experience yet.

Way to go Dline. Lots of hope there with three true freshman playing!:woot::woot:

There is some NFL talent on the defense.

BTW, Burton is finally playing to potential. Nice to see.
