Enough is Enough!!

Anyone who has read my posts since the CSU game know that I want Hawkins gone. I have lost confidence in his abilities and now, I just flat-out don't like him.

Prior to this, I have been reserved about sending my thoughts as a CU alum & donor to Mike Bohn, but now with this garbage about burning TH's redshirt and now saying Cody will probably still play, I've totally had it.

There is simply no excuse for this kind of aloof coaching in our program.

How do I get in touch with Bohn?? Anyone have an email or phone number?

I hit the same place a week or so ago. Post the response you get here and lets compare, they are starting to seem like form letters

What is wrong with the staff making TH the starter but also keeping the competition going? I don't get you people. You act like TH is some fragile little kid or something. TH is the starter. DH is not going to just jerk him out the first screw up he makes. I'm sure the coaching staff explained all the scenarios to him. It was up to TH to make the decision. He was given several days to think about it.

Cody is NOT playing barring injury. My God people.

I hope you guys are right. I can sure see why people don't believe DH. I can also see people getting up in arms when DH suggests CH will play more. Honestly, I don't have a hard time seeing DH looking for a way to put CH back at the helm, it's what he did last year. If he does, that will be the last straw for me because it will mean NOBODY will ever get a shot at QB while CH is here, and CH, quite clearly, isn't getting it done.

I dont get you. You act like the compitetion was ever open. TH needs to know that he is allowed to make mistakes and will still be going back in. If you have ever played sports, confidence is a big part of it. You play better when you can play relaxed. Right now our head coach is not instilling any of that confidence in him (at least publically).
I know that it is up to TH to make the decision, but I remember when I was that age and the coach asked you to do something, you did it. He might have been concerned that if he said no, that he would be looked down apon, and lose his chance forever.

But most importantly, Cody has had his chance, and that should now that should be over. Last year DH yanked TH pretty quickly, you can't tell me that is not in the back of TH's mind. Its time to make a clean break, and that should not envolve publically saying that CH might go in if TH screws up.

I hope you are right! I think the staff needed to rebutt their earlier statement that said it's Hansen for the rest of the year no matter what. That statement doesn't make any sense either. That's a dangerous statement.

But once it was said, what is the sense of taking it back? God I hope they don't see what we see......

I stated in August that if the battle was even close, go with inexperience. Hansen is on a growth curve. Cody had 6 years of redshirting at Boise State. He ain't getting better and hindsight proves that statement correct once again.

Did he keep the competition open when Cody was named the starter? No, he didn't. It took a 1-4 start and some terrible QB play to get Cody yanked.

That's my problem. Whether it's real or perceived, perception is reality. And the perception is that there are two sets of rules out there. One set applies if you happen to be the coach's son and the other set applies for everyone else.

BTW, Hawk did yank TH really quick last year after burning his redshirt, so it's not like we haven't seen this movie before. I sure as hell hope we get to see the alternate ending this time...

Cody is incapable of being successful as the CU quarterback.

Therefore, absolutely nothing is to be gained by playing him.

Further, Tyler's development and confidence are being compromised by splitting reps with Cody during practice and having to look over his shoulder.

Coach Hawkins has completely ****ed this situation up and is destroying this team because he's got blinders on when it comes to his son. Cody sucks. Dan needs to get over it, stop blaming other players for his failure, and stop trying to play him.

Let's just wait and see if CH is even put in. Someone else in another thread said maybe Hawk is just screwing with Kansas. But let's wait and see the Kansas game first, hell what do we have to lose??

If what SDBuff posted in the other thread is true, and CH and TH are splitting reps with the 1s in practice, that is indefensible. You have to give Hansen a chance to succeed. Just give him half the rope they gave Cody and I'll be happy.

We'll see Cody as soon as Tyler engineers a drive that spans our 5-yard-line and gets to KU's 25. Then Cody comes in and a 3 and out ensues.

No way is Hawk smart enough to design this. If he was thinking about something like this, then he should have let Cody stay in against UT and start Tyler unannounced to the world against KU.

I think we have to wait and see what happens saturday. I do not think Hansen is on a short leash. The quote I read, Hawkins said Cody "could" play....did he say somewhere else that he "probably would"? I think the fact that

Success is relative, but most unfortunately, this doesn't mean Cody isn't our best current option. I thought the change should have been made at halftime against CSU, but only time will tell. To me the most damning thing about the issue is Devenny's comments in the DP, linked in another thread. "To just say, 'It's now Tyler,' the way I looked at it was, now there's a fair competition," Devenny said. I guess the players didn't think there was a fair competition.

If you people will remember, at Boise, Hawkin's philosophy was to give reps to his backup QB. I just think it is that he want's to keep the other guy sharp in case of injury. At least thats the way I take it. But most of you seem to think Hawkins is part of some conspiracy to keep Cody at the helm. I just don't think that's the case.

But most of you seem to think Hawkins is part of some conspiracy to keep Cody at the helm. I just don't think that's the case.

I would love to believe otherwise, but where there is smoke, there is usually a fire. Case in point:

  • Devenney comments about 'now there will be a real QB competition'
  • Cody gets 4.5 games to prove himself, but now Hansen might have to split time with C-Hawk
  • Same scenario played out last year, with Cody eventually re-taking the helm of the team. Hansen's redshirt burned unnecessarily.

I know there is more that I'm forgettting as well.

Hawk's comments are the reason I am suspicious man. I mean, even you have to think this is completely unfair public treatment of Hansen. I don't mind the backup QB getting some reps. Which is why I made the comment I did.

I mean, do you think the treatment of the QBs has been equal and fair?

I agree. Looking back at it now, I think the post-game comments were from the heat of the moment. Now, he's stepping back and trying to figure out a way to keep Cody in the mix.

I was resigned to Cody all year and that was that, but burning Tyler's redshirt AGAIN definitely changes things and if he doesn't play the lion's share of minutes from here on out (barring injury or him just being ineffective) it will make a bad situation much worse -- and probably be coach Hawkins' Waterloo.

I believe the staff believed that Cody had the better training camp and that he was going to get the job done. They also believed that, if Cody was going to be able to get it done, that it would be best to RS Tyler. Obviously, that didn't pan out and so they had to reevaluate. I know that they gave Tyler several days to think it over and that it was Tyler's choice. I would hope they explained all the scenarios to Tyler to aid in his decision. You guys are just a bunch of paranoid schitzoids.

Cody just didn't come through like the staff thought he would. So, yeah, they had to backtrack and it makes them look bad.

I don't disagree with any of that, but since they've already burned Hansen's redshirt (for the second time), why have him on a short rope? Why not give him the same chance to succeed (or fail) that Cody got? Cody was pronounced the QB for the year, barring injury, before the CSU game. And until Hansen's shirt got burned against UT, Cody played every single snap at QB for 4.5 games.

Now that Hansen's RS is gone and he's been named the starter, why not give him that same opportunity? As I said elsewhere, reality does not matter. Perception of what is going on (especially in the eyes of recruits) is what matters. And if I'm a QB recruit, I don't want anything to do with CU until Cody is long gone.

didn't something like this happen during the a&m game last year, TH got the team to the red zone then was pulled and cody promptly threw the ball to the other team?

....well Cody has been starting for 2 1/2 years so I think he should be plenty sharp still...

And this is all that really needs to be said. I don't give a crap if you love Hawkins or hate Hawkins, the QB comments this week only add fuel to the burning pile of **** that has been the negative recruiting going on against us.

Yes, but I am pretty sure the WR ran the wrong route or something...

i'm with you on just not even liking hawk anymore but why is everyone so worried about a guy's redshirt? get over it. i think we have way more problems than that

All the quotes that I've seen from Dan Hawkins is that he will not have Hansen on a "short rope."
