And I hear juicebox talking about his normal brand of bullsh*t. Something about how the defensive backs were burned a couple times, but that they are now starting to figure out where they are supposed to be... And I lose it. I'm screaming at the freaking radio in my car "WTF have you been doing for the last six weeks, asshole? Why are they just NOW figuring out where they are supposed to be? Am I supposed to be happy that it took all of spring ball, all of fall camp, and five games for them to know where they're supposed to line up?!?!?! WHAT THE FU*K IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?!?!?!?"

THEN, the asshole actually has the audacity to say that fans who are critical haven't ever had to take any risks in their lives, and that it's easy to criticize if you've never had to go out and take those kinds of risks. At this point, I literally want to reach through the radio and beat him senseless. So now not only does my favorite football team suck, but I'm not allowed to be critical if I haven't taken any personal risks in my life.

I can't stand the sound of his voice anymore. I want him gone. He's gone beyond just sucking as a coach. Incompetence is one thing, but condesension and insults are definitely crossing my personal line. He's sounding more and more like Chuck Fairbanks every day. The longer he stays around, the worse this program will be.

Not as mad as those beochhy OU cheerleaders on his signature.

He is like a guy falling off a building and reaching for something to grab onto...and he just keeps falling. He has taken this team in 4yrs and turned it into a joke (man that hurts to say that)

That day is such a distant memory for me. It's like it happened 100 years ago. I should probably change the sig, but I still think it's funny.

It's quite clear this guy has the thinnest skin of any coach i've ever known. I was in iraq and others here risked their lives in the military is that not a big enough risk? Many here have taken risks at their jobs, a move, circumstances at home, health etc...

This IDOT is clueless. The reason people are critical is because hawk hasn't had a winning season in his first 3 years and it will be 4 straight years without a winning season. He is the worst coach at cu since fairbanks and his big talk and no results has got more people critical than anything.

He needs to spend less time whining about the fans and spend more time trying to find out why in year 4 under his watch and going into game 6, his players finally know where to line up.

He blames everyone and everything but himself. His BS every week with his press conference shows he's lost. I know one thing, CU took a huge risk bringing him in and the risk has not been anywhere near the reward.

I'd love to have that conversation with him face to face. If quitting a stable job to go out on your own and start your own company, all the while being the sole breadwinner for your family is not taking risks, then I'm just not familiar with what that is.

I know a few things about taking risks. I know the same can be said for many other Allbuffers who have done the same as I have.

But I also think it has nothing to do with the topic at hand - that he is failing coaching this team. Dan is trying to deflect criticism by tearing down those who criticize him instead of addressing what we are saying.

I'm convinced that in Dan's personal philosophy, an unwavering belief in his own awesomeness is the foundational "fact" upon which all else is built. Therefore, if something goes wrong it must be due to others being at fault (coaches, players, donors, faculty, administrators, media, fans).

That bull**** about "they haven't taken risks" sounds suspiciously like an excuse to me. I guess if I'd been a D-1 football coach I'd somehow understand the difference....

I don't think you're going to find anybody here that hasn't taken a risk. Whether it's starting your own business or joining the military or fighting to have a child or overcoming a fear of flying or just posting a picture of yourself in a pink suit on the internet... :smile2: And I think pretty much all of us know that when you take that risk, you're going to have failures. I think we can all live with that. What we also know is that what you can't do is act like those failures are acceptable and that everybody else is wrong to expect you to fix those failures.

It's getting more obvious all the time that he really doesn't have an answer. All he's got is promises that things are going to get better, excuses for why they haven't and contempt for anybody that dares to ask "how?" For somebody who is supposed to be some great leader and molder of young men, that's a problem if you ask me....

To be sure. What the hell has a division one football coach ever risked? Getting a multimillion dollar buyout because he "risks" a coaching philosophy that results in losses instead of wins?

I have successfully started several businesses. At times it has meant going without income for a couple of years while things get off the ground and both myself and my family have had to make sacrifices to make these endeavors successful. And CU reaps some of the rewards from my success through my donations to the program and purchase of season tickets. Now I hear from a butt head with a guaranteed contract paying him a million a year that I can not be critical because my risks in life are not worthy compared to WHAT???

Many take risks in their lives - some mention serving in the military, policemen, firemen, etc. I don't believe that Hawkins is worthy to judge anyone.

I agree with you - I want him gone. He is just a mouth without a clue.

There's only two explanations for why he's still doing this.

1. He's literally brain dead. Has no clue that he sounds mentally retarded with all this "we're so close", "we're figuring it out", "it's about to pop" "the fans don't understand" bullsh*t.

2. He knows he's gone after the season and is in full on passive agressive mode and is just pushing our buttons to see if we'll have a collective aneurysm.

His record is getting more and more like Chuck Fairbanks every week.

Does KOA have transcripts of their shows? Or is there a way I can listen to this particular part of the show? It is time Bohn gets an email from me as I am in the middle of the biggest risk I have yet to take in my life and up until reading this thread I was feeling extremely guilty that I have not gone to go to a home game this year.

I would guess so. Most radio shows, have audio files of their broadcasts. I'd bet if you called them or emailed them you could get a copy of it.

If Hawk wants to keep his job, he had better start being careful of what he says. His words can really hurt the program. You start insulting the fans, donors, and that crap is going to snowball out of control.

to the audio file thing, i'm sure they'd treat it as proprietary and not be giving it away.

to the 2nd point, i totally agree. and posted as much after the Toledo game. If I'm Bohn, and having put a lot of hard work into turning around the PR game at the CU AD and football program in particular.....getting the team on unopposed national TV the first two weeks of the season in an effort to showcase a "10 win team" to renew relationships with national alumni, donors, and grow the fan base at every level.....and then watch Hawk piss it away with 1. bad football and 2. the subsequent defensive, unconvincingly aloof nonsense that no one could possibly believe......i'd be more than a little bit concerned at this point. and at least with Hawkins credibility problem. that's a bad public face for CU sports.

the damage is starting to be irreparable scar tissue here pretty soon, especially among younger fans and current CU and Colorado HS students (both of whom are the future of the alumni).

my uncle has been fighting leukemia for over a year with aggressive chemo and recently a bone marrow transplant...i'll be sure and tell him he has no right to criticize his favorite football team when they are 1-3 since there's no risk in his life.

way to keep things in perspective Hawk. you coach a *game* for a living.

This pisses me off. What does Hawk have to risk? He is set for life. Not a spring chicken, will get million regardless of him actually being able to do his job competantly, can live comfortably for life, probably will get a small school to pick him up and pay him very well even if he does get fired. So what does he really have to chance? Nothing.

I was not happy with the product on the field, but I am insulted and pissed at his total lack of comprehension of people skills in the media. **** him. Fire his ass now. I almost am to the point of wanting CU to lose this week if it means we can fire his ass (then win out with whoever for a bowl game!:smile2:)

Well, I guess HE IS a risk taker in the sense that accepting a job for which you are completely unqualified is taking a risk.

You go Dan, take that RISK, babeeee..............

He can't be gone soon enough for me.

It seems to me that no matter what happens now he needs to go. Even if by some miracle they turn it around and go to a bowl game the damage is done. I can envision him getting even more defiant if that happened. He'd take the "See, I told you so" attitude and be even more pissy than he already is. For a supposed "Zen" master he is wound tighter than (insert your own joke here). I don't know what happened to Dano this year that made him so pissed off. This started back in the spring and has gotten worse as the months have gone by. His short, curt responses to the media and lashing out at his fanbase seems way out of character and is completely unacceptable. But based on his results he is getting exactly what he intends. Lighten up, Dano and start winning some games. It isn't rocket science and the future of the world doesn't rest with you. Keep a little perspecive, eh?

I can only imagine what our record would be if Hawkins hadn't closed practices and banned photos and reports on the team this past spring and fall.

I wonder if anybody else heard the show, just to get their perspective on the comment. I was so steamed.

I'm sure it would be considered proprietary, but many stations keep accessible files because that's yet another way to claim advertising dollars thru historic programming. And here's a great example. I'm checking on this...
