Louisville sets sights on Gruden for possible opening

I threw this out there after the Toledo debacle... I think he would be a perfect college coach. He'd definitely fire the kids up (having the exact opposite sideline demeanor of Dan) and I bet he'd be great at recruiting (loves to stockpile QBs -albeit mediocre ones). Only problem is that he may be in line for another NFL gig and seems to be the heir apparent for Madden broadcasting wise - thus its unlikely we'd be able to offer anything worth his while...

Seems like a higher profile version of what Pete Carroll was. Enough personality to probably make a great transition, assuming he can get solid coordinators to follow (who can also recruit). My question would be for how long would he be a college coach. If he had success here, where'd he be next? Notre Dame?

Actually think he would translate very well to the college game. He is very emotional for a NFL coach.

buffson was traded to Tampa, trust me we don't want Gruden. He is a foul mouth also ran that only had success with someone else's players. On top of that he sucks in the booth on MNF.

This afternoon sports radio was talking about Gruden to ND this year if Uncle Charlie does not win 10 games.

I find it hard to believe that Gruden can't get another NFL job, but if he can't I think he'd be an incredible college coach. Pretty sure he'd want a big time job if he takes a college job, though. I don't think he'd be interested in fixing CU.

I'd take him in a heartbeat, but he'll be in high demand. He'll either take an NFL gig or go somewhere he can make Nick Saban type money.

If we're going the former NFL coach route, I realli like Mariucci. He's been a D1 head coach, has probably been out of coaching long enough to not be on the top of any NFL GM's list of coaching candidates, and kids would love this guy - he'd be great in a recruit's living room.

He may enjoy his tv gig too much to get back into coaching, but never know.
