goree back to the ol? and iltis to guard?

I know personnel rarely stay the same from the first game to the last, but trial by error in mid-October sucks the confidence and hope out of me. Really a mind**** to keep reading about this team having players switch positions EVERY WEEK.

I was thinking about Goree's move back.

There were writers who considered that the Cody May Play philosophy was to confuse Mangino and create havoc among KU's defensive preparations.

Now, Goree back to the O-Line.

Yes, I can see tornadoes of activity as KU comes in, totally clueless.

I am hoping this is all smoke-and-mirrors, all distractions and that Coach Hawkins & Co. know exactly how to extract the best effort out of this team.

Now - what's this about joy in Mudville?

This staff is making it up as they go along. ****!

Amazing isn't it. Hawk has been here 3 years and is going into game 6 in year 4 and we are playing musical chairs with our qb's, OL etc...

Hawk and denver johnson can leave together. Hagan's rb rotation isn't real great either.

explain to me why this is confusing? Goree played a little there last year. Sackman's boy Pericek went from about 3rd team to starter and if you watch what he did against Texas, he has evolved nicely. Cunningham was dominant. We got the big Freshmen from Texas playing well. Goree is probably better suited for the OL and now that we have firmed up on teh DL, it's time to look at Goree and find out where he can help the most. DL was a huge need early but Goree didn't get too much time there did he?

Probably politcal. When Hawkins doesn't play someone it's because he's clueless or political....

Denver Johnson just perpetuates the bull****. How the hell can you not find five competent OL in two years?

You're right. We should be happy the coaches are having trouble settling on a starting five along the OL. AGAIN.

hes only been here one. but the point stands. Knowing this group, they will leave Adkins in and pull Miller.

My bad. He has only been here one year, but you're right, the point stands. How is the staff so clueless about the interior OL in year four?

Wait for it... we're going to hear "recruiting restrictions" any time now.

Moving back to OL makes perfect sense to me. We were thin on the OL player grouping, and this move gives us another body we can run onto the field every few plays to confuse the defense.

I don't understand why so many of the people on this board still don't understand the genius behind coach Hawks plan.

So far Goree's a bust as a d-lineman. He may just have more of an o-lineman's mentality. I think it's a last ditch effort to get something out of Goree, get him motivated, and keep him in the program.

And besides all that, I actually like the move. Since Obi's moved to DT our depth is the same as before at DT and we've increased the athleticism of both DT and O-line.

Wait... what? Obi to DT? When did this happen? So he can sit on the bench as a DT instead of a DE now?

BRILLIANT!!!!

But what does it say about our staff's evaluation of high school DL talent? Not much.

BoulderBuff's comment is the one central issue to my concern. Goree's "not mentally ready" waffling but having a couple of weeks to mull it over - this is another aspect of concern.

I'm glad these players are allowed input but, again, this says "Foot dragging" and not "Enthusiasm". Boy, a chance to help the team (if that's what it is), and players are waiting around, thinking about it?

Hansen thinking a couple of days about burning yet another redshirt?

This IS entirely reasonable, yes. But so is the query about a lack of enthusiasm to help the team.

It just seems odd. It maybe a great idea but it's not being presented with the most glowing of confidences. This isn't just Goree or Hansen - this seems to envelope this season.
