Coach Hawk Is Going Nowhere

The buyout is huge dollars. Bohn can see improvement.

Folks... it's not going to happen so lets hope the Buffs
can win at least 4 out of their next 6 games and go bowling.

Suddenly the future looks brighter in the QB, WR, OL & DL positions.
Mr. Jones and Spond will be Buffs next year and others will follow.

No need to dwell on a new coach since it's not going to happen. Lets focus on the positives.

IF CU can win 4 of 6 I agree that there is no change.

This weeks game will be the first test that shows the team is improving, or if the KU game was a fluke.

Nothing is going to happen until the season is over, regardless of what AZ and his "cabinet" may want.

I still maintain that a FOURTH losing season will not be tolerated by Bohn. Whether that means firing Hawkins or just requiring wholesale coaching changes, I do not know.

I do know that CU played a new QB against a team ranked in the top 15 and played pretty darn well. They got a victory. Now let's see what happens at KSU. There is still quite a bit of football left to be played this season.

Whatever happens let's all hope he takes some speaking lesson between now and spring practice. Listening to/reading the guy's nonsensical, utterly un-interpretable comments is really, really embarrassing. C'mon, man, you are at an institute of higher learning. At least try to sound like it.

I think he gets CU and Naropa confused sometimes....

I cannot control what Bohn does so I don't worry about it. I can control what I do. If Hawkins is back then I am seriously considering not renewing my tickets nor making my donation and I don't care if he wins 6 games. I am getting too old and I am not enjoying CU athletics much anymore...I have supported CU athletics through a lot of down times but my enthusiasm is waning.

IMO, the future does not look brighter with Hawkins at the helm.

Now go ahead and Neg rep me all you want.

I have to agree, I believe he will still be our coach next season. They will give him one more season to prove himself.

To early to tell. He is only 2 and 4. This team could get hot, or TH could regress and the D could blow up and all of a sudden we are 2 and 8... then, ya, Hawk gets fired. He saved his job for the rest of this season tho. That much I can deal with.

Which among the diehard Hawkins supporters on this board do you expect to negative rep you?

No question this has been a very disappointing year, but it looks like the team may have turned a corner. There is no question in my mind they continue to show improvement each week.

Hawkins will have most of his team back next season, and winning the north this year actually looks doable, so if he can pull it off I am supportive of his return. I sure as hell won't be cancelling my tix if he does.

This game this weekend could be the say all for Hawkins future at CU IMHO....given his road record with still three road games left, this team needs this win to build confidence. To believe that the KU win was not a fluke, and this team can put back to back wins together would be huge....GO BUFFS!!!!

Not a big believer in must wins. But this is a close to one that I can think of for this year. He has to have this win to keep us in the hunt.

I really hope the team can stay hungry this week!

CU would have had a much better chance to beat UT on the road two weeks ago with Hansen at the helm. I no longer see any games on the remaining schedule that we cannot win. I still am not convinced that we can't find a way to lose any one of them however.:smile2:

Contrary to popular belief, the money (not from the athletic department) is there.

The biggest thing is that Bohn has to support Squawkins because if he fails after Bohn extended him, along with Bzzz not winning will put Bohn in a reeeeeeaal tight spot.

that second caveat is kind of the rub, ain't it? :smile2:

i think we'll be in a lot of close ones. if it comes up our way, we might find a way to win 6 for the season. if not, prolly 5. must win at KSU and ISU to make a bowl happen. i believe we will beat at least one of MU and NU if not both. ATM, should win. OSU, should lose. it's the roadies to Manhattan and Ames that worry me. a bowl team wins those games.

See, my point above was that with hasne playing at UT we had a chance to win. I don't think OSU is as good as we all expected, and with a couple of weeks of Hansen gelling with the WRs in game situations, I think that game is a toss-up. I do not look at it as a for sure loss any longer. I think we have a chance a winning out the season, I really do (caveat---if CU continues to improve like they have been the last few weeks.) I think Hansen playing from day 1 would of had CU still thiinking 10 wins was entirely possible. As is, I think we still have a shot at 6-9 wins (if we win CCG and bowl game-- two pretty tall orders at this point, but after the last two weeks we will see if the improvment keeps coming along).
Any news on MTM making it back this year? If not next game or so, I would think you MUST redshirt him this year to heal.

If Hawkins is back next year I plan on keeping my donation and splitting it between my daughters. It isn't a lot, but I've been doing it for a while. I would keep tickets if I lived in Colorado or close enough to Folsom to use them. I will always support the program and the players and I would love to be there for home games.

However, I find it difficult to donate to the program when the administration tolerates losing coaches, disingenuous coaches, coaches who utter complete nonsense, or coaches who can't get teams prepared and motivated enough to defeat teams like Montana State, Colorado State and Toledo.

Excellent points.

Plus, I believe that DiStefano (and Benson if he cares at all about athletics) is pretty satisfied with the job performances of Hawkins, Bzdelik and Bohn.

The academic/administrative side only cares that the AD is pulling its financial weight, gaining positive press for the university, and that the student-athletes are performing reasonably well as students while staying out of trouble.

From where they're sitting, firing Hawkins looks like a stupid idea. It puts the AD in financial difficulty just as it's pulling out of it, there's no guarantee the next coach would win, and the next coach probably wouldn't measure up to Hawkins as far as how clean he'd run the program.

I have seen improvement each week since Toledo. I feel that every week we look a little bit better than the last, hopefully that continues. I still have my doubts about Hawk, but am willing to see the season play itself out. If we don't go to a bowl, then I am all for a new coach. The thing I am excted about right now is this is the first season under Hawk we see improvement as the season goes on. And QB play may have just been what the doctor ordered, lets see how the second half goes with TH.

What if he has 5 wins total with this last 3 wins coming over a ranked OSU, MU, and KNU.

Just playing devils advocate. This is why I want to see the entire season playout before I judge.

So many ways to win and lose that If he gets 5 wins this year, with 4 of them being against top 20 teams, it will be tough not to give him 1 more year to see what he can do with this same team when they are Juniors and Seniors.

good point, but 4 losing seasons is just unacceptable IMO. The thing Hawk needs to start doing is winning on the road too, and you do have OSU as a road game. That would be tough though. Wins over KU, Mizzou, OSU and NU, but no bowl would be a tough decision, I am glad I'm not the AD.

You can be sure that DiStefano is not satisfied with the job Hawk is or is not doing. I spoke with him at the UT game and he used some pretty definitive language when talking about what was acceptable as to performance of the football team for the remainder of the year. He is a staunch Buff football supporter and this season has not made him happy.

He's a real nowhere man,
Sitting in his nowhere land,
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody.

Most Buffs don't like his point of view,
They don't know what he's going to do,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere man, please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Win 5 more and the world is at your command.

If there's one thing we can all agree on here, it's pulling donations will only help our program get out of this current mess.

isn't this exactly what I polled a week ago?

I'm not worried about the money, either. That's a red herring. However, if CU can get this ship turned around, there are benefits to keeping him here.

It's entirely possible that he's had some difficulty remaining objective so long as his son is here. Once Cody is gone, he may be able to pay attention to more pressing issues.

That's what I'm hoping, anyway.

Agreed, if "The Ragin Cajuns" can beat this team CU has absolutely no reason to lose - even in Manhattan. KSU is probably the weakest team we will play the rest of the season. A loss to this team is completely unacceptable.
