McKnight

Anybody else wonder what will become of McKnight now that CH is wearing the headset and relaying plays? Sure #21 will still get his possession catches - which is good - but it sure looked better seeing the ball getting spread around.

Simas is Hansen's favorite receiver. McKnight might be #3 behind Geer now. And I think that's a good thing even though I'm a big Scotty fan.

Scotty will still do very well. He's not a great deep threat, but, every good team needs a route runner and possesion receiver...Scotty is that.

No doubt.

All I'm saying is before the progression seemed to be: "Oh, *uck, where's Scotty?!!?"

He will still be a big part of the offense. He did have 5 catches
for 33 yds against KU leading all Buff receivers in receptions.

Scotty is a classic slot/possession receiver hopefully he can still produce there and with Geer keep opposing defenses focused on the middle of the field leaving Simas and who ever one on one on the outside.

I will very excited if Simmons can start to come around this year by bowl time. Simas, Simmons and McKnight with Speedy and Hansen in the backfield is exciting.

Exactly. Now Scotty's role will become more like it always should have been - a very solid possession receiver, but not always the #1 option.

I'll bet that McKnight adjust the quickest to the scramble drill that CU will see a few times a game now that Hansen is in there. He may not have the number of catches, but I bet we'll see him go big a few more times this season. If he is our 3rd or 4th best receiver by the end of the year, then we are in a very good place.

I like Scotty Mcknight but seriously has anyone ever seen a wide out run into tackles more than him?

He catches the ball with huge amounts of space and originally it looks like he could run for days and then sure enough he finds someone to run into and get tackled. A couple times against Kansas he turned and there was nothing but green grass ahead and like clockwork he managed to get 9.5 yards or 10 in one instance. It's uncanny.

Just an observation.

Maybe true, but, he saves our ass with precision more often than not and catches everything thrown his way. I'll give up speed for consistancy...especially if the offense can actually allow him to become the possesion type receiver he's supposed to be.

it is nice to see the ball go to more than one guy lately.... I like mcnight but we need to move the ball around...

And you are right, he has saved our asses many times, I totally agree with that and I am very glad we have him. So I do not mean in any way to denegrate Scotty. He plays hard on every down and that is all you can really ask for.

I actually think McKnight will benefit from the change. The playing field is opened up more with Hansen at QB, so McKnight won't be stuck with just the short curl routes but can also do more of the midrange routes. I think Scotty McKnight is a perfect slot receiver for the single back set. He will have a real advantage when covered by an LB or S.
