Why am I not worried at all?

I have said it on here a number of times, I am not a student of the game like many of you, but I don't see the Buffs loosing this one.

Hansen had a great first outing and they will continue to refine his game this week in practice. Receivers getting more used to the new QB etc.

Our o-line isn't great but improving and now that hansen is back there snaking around the weak protection is a smaller problem than it was.

Our running game has been steady with Speedy and I haven't seen anyone really stop it completely.

Our D is strong and seemingly getting stronger every game.

The KSU O has certainly put up decent numbers but against pretty anemic defenses and a lot of it comes from the run that I feel confident we can stop. And their big receiver can't be much better than Meyer and that other kid from KU and we managed them ok.

Baring some Hawkins-esque meltdown on the road (I know, I know) I am jsut not that worried about this game but everyone still has us as underdogs...is that just because of our games with Cody at the helm? What am I missing?

Check Hawk's record in Boulder. Then check Hawk's road record in Boulder. It is not too hard to figure out why people may not be all that impressed with one home victory over Kansas.

Also, you gotta understand that KSU will throw some wrinkles in their defense this week to combat Hansen. Just as the players on offense will continue to grow more comfortable with Hansen, opposing defenses will also start picking out weaknesses to exploit.

Also, not ready to classify our defense as "strong" quite yet. Definitely getting better, but we still have issues on that side of the ball.

KSU also could potentially exploit our weaknesses on special teams. They did have a kick return TD against A&M.

I'm a bit concerned that future opponents will do all thay can to keep Hansen in the pocket where he's not at his best.

I also feel a bit of confidence, you can tell the players are playing much more confident too. I expect our team to come out motivated with a clear goal of winning the North. It is certainly attainable and it starts on Saturday with a win at KSU. While I expect this to be a tough game, I also think we will prevail. Go Buffs!

I'm concerned because we've had one hell of a time on the road since Hawk got here. Add to that the fact that KSU seems to have our number lately, even though they suck balls. We only beat them by one point last year.

I hate to say it, but this team concerns me every time they take the field. I was so, so very wrong on how this team was going to be, certainly at the start of the season, that all my expectations are extremely tempered.

The play has been better recently, but nothing that makes me confident that this squad is about to pop.

I'm eager to see whether our run defense has turned the corner and is really as good as it's looked... or if Texas and Kansas just can't run the ball.

If we shut down KSU's ground attack, we're for real (and we win this game easily).

Well said. Even with the better play in recent games, we look lost on far too many plays.

We're not digging down and getting out our horns enough. It's simple football, really. Get your horns out and dig down and all will be well.

And correct the little things.

In order to do that the opposing D would have to move up closer to the box and that would open the flats for our traditional rinky-dink crap passes. Throw some screens in there and we would kill them....IF our coaches can make the adjustments.

Big IF:lol:

I think Hansen is just fine in the pocket. I'm not sure where that came from. Just because he's a mobile guy doesn't mean he is inneffective in the pocket. He's got a strong arm and is tall enough to get the ball over defenders arms.

I hope they do put a LB to spy on him. Kiseau should be adjusting some of the plays based on that as well. If Hansen can read the defense and goes through his progressions AND can make good throws we are going to start putting up a lot of points on the board. The same can be said for blitzes now to contain him. We're going to need to start putting our faster receivers out there to give him a chance to make a quick 3 step drop pass.

What concerns me is the overall inconstancy. Last year everyone was excited after we beat WVU in Folsom but the season went down hill after that. I want the team to start building upon success not having sporadic success.

IMO, we're seeing consistency. The team continues to improve, this is what most buff fans are not getting. This is the FIRST time this has happened under Hawkins.

Exactly. A couple years ago, we're riding high after a huge upset over OU, only to go to Manhattan and get smoked.

You saw consistency between the first and second halves the last two weeks? Really?

dude, just STFU, all you want to do is argue with me, I'm done with your ass.

He makes a good point. CU hasn't put together a solid 60 minute effort in any game so far this year.

And what are you doing with his ass in the first place?

I'm asking a legit question. If you do not want to engage in discussion with me, fine by me.

BTW, I will remind you that you're the one that got all pissy in a thread I started a couple weeks ago after the UT game.

I know he does, and I agree about the 60 minute thing, but you have to look at the overall improvement, look where we were at week 2 and look where we are now. This ****er just keeps attacking me because I don't know **** about football. Sorry for being an opptimistic fan that is encouraged by improvement and would take that over a team that could have easily tanked it after week 2.

I've not seen a stitch of good consistency all year. I've seen some improvement, at times, but nothing anywhere close to what I call consistency.

The definition of this team to me is inconsistency with regard to the on the field play.

You're entitled to be optimistic. I don't think there is any doubt the team has improved since the Toledo game. I just would not call them "consistent". You know plenty about college football, calm down with the hyperbolic statements.
