Not Defending Hawkins, But...

It seems that most on the board are crucifying Hawkins for pulling Hansen and putting Cody into the game today. I, like the rest of you, disagreed with the decision and thought they should have left Hansen in, good or bad. But what if it was Keisau that made the call? What if he, as the QB coach, decided that Cody was more prepared to handle the situation when he was put in? Again, I don't agree with the decision, but if Hawkins is letting his assistants coach, and they made that decision, then the nepotism criticism appears to be unfounded. But, ultimately, Hawkins is responsible for the decisions made by his staff.

I just wonder how much input Keisau has in that decision. If Hawkins made the call then I have to believe that Keisau is not a happy man.

I'm not sure we'll ever know the answer.

I don't buy the nepotism crap myself. But it I truly believe it was the wrong decision. Either Hansen was ready and that is why you pulled his RS or he wasn't.

i think there's too much at stake for hawkins to be a nepotism angle, there i think there are ample reasons to have given up faith on Dan and, sadly, Cody.

Hard to think it was Kiesau when he was the one quoted over and over again saying he didn't want a revolving QB situation like last year.

Juicebox was the one quoted as saying things such as we've got 2 good qbs, there are packages for both of them, and both will probably play.

I bet Keisau takes another coaching position after this season

F8ck Hawkins

Helfriech looks like a ****ing genius for leaving CU now to a good UO. I wouldn't coach for this and given that there is no contract for our assistants I bet we see defections after this year. We'll be left with Bandison, Collins, Johnson and Riddle. What a glorious coaching staff.

Kiseau might only stay because he's getting a shot at OC. He'll leave for greener pastures. And for those that say the grass is greener on the other side, well, there are 40-50 other programs better suited for him in the long run. He'll be gone when it arises. As he should.

I don't have an issue with the decision as it applies to the game itself. It may have been a good decision to find something that may work and win a game. The problem I have is the health of the team as a whole. I think benching Hansen blows Hawkins' credibility and just creates another possible crack in team unity. Cody wasn't pulled during his bad play in previous games, why Hansen. I have never believed the neoptism stuff, but Hawkins should know he needs to avoid even the apperance of impropriety when he pulled Hansen's RS.
