As bad as Fairbanks?

Not quite. upChuck Fairbanks had a sensational career record at CU of 7-26. Hawkins is better, albeit not a whole lot better, at 15-29.

Not that bad, but pretty friggin close.....cut this d-bag loose, or we will enter into a death spiral for our athletic prgram....

There's still time; I heard these guys are looking for a home and home next year and the year following. Better hurry though, Hawk's only got two years left on his contract.

Which game can we drop from each of the next two years?

Hawkins is easily the 2nd worst coach in CU history, though. Hard to top Fairbanks. But, then again, Chuck only sucked for 3 years.

Mallory won (tied) the Big 8 just a couple years before Chuck. 76? it would be good/bad beer talk to know which drop was deeper. Barney wins the North and we go 2-10 the next year.

we only played Montana State once...

That's a point, but I was a student when Fairbanks was coach and he didn't give **** plain and simple. It was painfully obvious he was only in it for the $$. Hawk seems to have more passion than CF ever dreamed of.

Anybody showing less passion than Hawk was probably receiving drop in visits from morticians on a regular basis, trying to pick up the obvious business to be had there...

I dunno. Hawk has hand clapping down pretty well.

You hit the nail on the head, I think Fairbanks was embalmed shortly before taking the job.

The clap. What a fitting symbol for the Hawkins era... :sad1:

90% of the sideline shots either have Hawk clapping or in a complete daze, just staring off into space. An occasional pat on the back after a turnover is also possible.

I dunno who's worse. They do belong in the same category. Don't recall if Fairbanks ever called a fake punt from his own 10. I was pretty young when he was still around.

Tearing Espinoza's ****ing head off for catching a punt on the 3 would be nice as well.

fairbanks was worse... but, juicebox is gaining on him.

the fact that we are even discussing it tells you it is time to cut these losers loose.

hire ****ing dave logan at this point. hell, give us gb back. what is callahan up to? or maybe booger watson?

really, could any of these ****s possibly be worse at this point?

Thanks guys--reading this thread is the first time I've laughed all day. I am so pissed off sending an email to Bohn didn't help. Not to mention my other half is out of town so I had to suffer thru that debacle yesterday alone. I refuse to wear my, "Buff stuff" any more this season. I'm tired of the looks of pity.

Fairbanks gave us two losses to Drake, 82-42, and the Sports Illustrated story (CU eliminating baseball, wrestling, etc., while Fairbanks redid his office). Fairbanks also bailed after spring practice to go to the USFL, leaving Colorado with zero options in terms of hiring. Still the worst ...

FWIW - Bill McCartney was 7-25-1 in his first three seasons, a half game better than Fairbanks ... and got a contract extension.

And lest we forget...Fairbanks was the one who thought we "had to look the part of champions, like UCLA" so we ended up with those god-awful powder blue uniforms for like 5 years. I was only 6 years old at the time and remember that, that's how bad it was.

Of course my dad ranting around the house about it probably had something to do with it too...

Oh no, I've doomed my childrenwith MY rantings about Hawk!!!! Aaahhhh! :bang:

I will never forget listening to the 1980 Oklahoma game on the radio, an 82-42 Buff loss. We were playing a true freshman who had not even turned 18 yet (can't recall his name). Insane.

Fairbanks remains the low water mark for modern Colorado football and Hawk is sinking toward it. Still, he never put us in these:

Looks like the UCLA spring game.

I always assumed it was upChuck Fairbanks who came up with the powder blue uniforms, but I've since learned it was foisted on the athletic department by the regents of all people. What got into their heads remains unclear.
