ok.... like it or not, the rumor is out there about Mikey S. being a potential head coach for the U of Colorado.

ok fine. both sides have thier arguments. that is all fine and good too. i dont care.

what i have seen and what i do care about is that there have been several posters claim that MS does not want to recruit.

ok. fine.

my question is.... where does this come from? have any of you spoken to him on this subject? do you personally know him? has Mike ever told you personally that the job of recruiting players to a college football program is a sucking donkey ball job?

or is it an educated guess?

im just wondering since he is a candidate that many here seem to like.

some insight would be nice. thanks.

This has always struck me as odd given that recruiting would be easy for a guy like him. I'm guessing just wearing his superbowl rings on a home visit would just about do the trick for 90% of young guys but what do I know? I've never been a D1 recruiter.

It's buried somewhere in this huge thread or one of the links in this thread. (no patience to wade through it again). The sources are some of the best on this site. TIFWIW

Shanny talk

Shanny would be a huge upgrade over Juicebox. That's not in question. A cup of warm piss would be an upgrade. The question is whether he's the best person we can get for the job.

damn. i got too much **** to do over the next few weeks to wade through that thing again. great thread but, damn....

I'd be shocked if Shanny is interested in the job.. I think we see him somewhere on a NFL sideline next year..

Now, the question I have is whether Bowlen has to keep paying Shanahan to not coach and how long is that.. I believe if Shanahan gets hired by say the Redskins next year, Bowlen is off the hook for final years of his contract if the contract he signs with the Redskins cover what Bowlen would have paid him. .

Its like Shanahan is being paid not to coach and does this clause stay in effect if he takes a college job?

I might be totally wrong about this, but this is how I understood it from reading an article a while back ago..

Shanny gets to keep taking PB's cash money as long as he doesn't take an NFL job. He could coach college or arena league if he wanted to and Pat would still have to pay him. At least for however much time was left on his contract when he got fired.
