Who would you guess had a better game at QB?

Hansen did. By a longshot.

Completed a higher % of his passes

Had a higher YPA and YPC

Threw 2 less interceptions

And yet Cody threw 23 times vs. Tyler's 14. How can Hansen ever be THE GUY if the coaches (read: Hawk) won't let him play in pressure situations? :bang::bang::bang::bang::bang:

Cody's line goes 10/23 for 95 yards. 0 TDs, 2 INTs

TH was 7/14 for 89 yards, 0 TDs, 0 INTs

Boy, it sure is a good thing that Cody came in to save everyone in crunch time! I am so mad at the coaching staff I don't even know what to say.

Cody really got us into a rhythm against the KSU prevent, though. You've got to give him that. AND HE'S GOT THE HEART OF A ****ING LION!!!

So, is this a "rip one kid apart and praise the other" thread? Bull 5hit. This is about coaching. Pure and simple. The coaching staff just does not have the skill level to get it done. It isn't about Cody or Tyler.

Kiss my ass, DBT. I deliberately did not rip Cody. I am mad at the coaches for putting him in. I know damn well he gave it everything he has. Unfortunately, everything he has is not enough. He just does not have the physical tools. Tyler has the tools, but they won't let him get the experience to go along with it. This is shaping up just like last year and it's horse****. Hansen deserves better than that.

yup.

putting players into a position to fail is a coaching problem.

i will say one thing about the klatt criticism, however. it is easy for klatt to whine because he never had anyone behind him with any skills. he could throw 5 INTs in a game and they'd have kept him in. still, he's right, imho, about hansen not getting the same latitude as the other kid.

I don't know... I imagine Tyler Hansen and Coach Hansen had a looooooong talk when Tyler got home tonight.

Squawkins always praising Hansen being the son of a coach, may actually bite him in the @$$, as a football coach is going to recognize how much you screwed the pooch.

Not only is Cody more prepared to run the offense... And with the lack of experience for TH... Hansen is still a better QB.

I would not blame Hansen one bit if he left after this season. The way the coaches have jerked him around is criminal.

Well, whatever. Maybe he'll have another coach who will give him a hug. Fact is, he did not look good. I don't get why so many of you guys think he is all that. And I know that sounds like bashing. I don't mean it to be. But Tyler isn't much different than Cody. It's the coaching staff that has to go. The coaching staff's adjustments today were horrible. The coaching staff's preparation today was horrible.

Right, he did not look good. No one denies that. What everyone is saying is that he should get longer than 2 quarters of bad play before you take him out. Cody's had three years and they looked equally bad...at best. When K-State was still playing D, Cody looked worse, IMO. The point is, TH isn't getting a chance to play his way through anything. We know Cody can't win games for us, why go back to him? It's not bashing Cody, it's not bashing Tyler. It's bashing a ****ty coaching staff. Period.

On that we agree. The coaching staff is 5HITTY!

He may not have played great, but he played better than Cody, as illustrated above. Add that in to the whole 'Tyler is the guy' bull**** after they yanked his redshirt (for the second time) and this is starting to look an awful lot like last year.

I'm not saying I want the kid to transfer, just that I would understand if he did.

Tyler is way, way different than Cody from a skillset perspective, though. I don't think anyone would even try to argue that. He's got a better arm, better feet, and he didn't throw 2 INTs today, so that tells me he makes better decisions with the ball, too.

The OL played like ****. So why bring in another QB when it's not the QB play that is limiting the team? Only reason I can think of is that his name is the same as the HC's name...

Tyler also had 4 passes dropped today (5 if you count Simas going out of bounds). It certainly wasn't his best game but there was nothing about the way he played that should have caused the coaches to yank him for Cody... and all the baggage that goes along with that.

Dan Hawkins is sabotaging the CU program and Tyler Hansen's collegiate career. Whether it is through sheer incompetence or nepotism, I do not know. However, whatever the reason it needs to stop.

They both missed wide open receivers. And that sucks. Neither one are any good, IMO. But besides all that, Dan Hawkins cannot coach a lick.

This...

And Hansen's bad was nothing compared to Cody's bad. Hansen was 7-14, with 4 of those being drops. You can also recall that TH's last play was a first down strike that went right through Will Jefferson's hands. That's how his day ended. He hit the WR in the hands, and because Jefferson doesn't make the catch... Here comes Cody.

Also, football people can attest to this... I'm sick and tired of the play action roll out against the grain. Aside from taking away throwing momentum from the QB, it also takes away half of the field. Covering 2-3 receivers over only half of the field makes a DC's job much easier. I watched football the entire day. We are the only team I saw run that. It's stupid.

The one thing I wondered today but couldn't see from the video angles they gave us, was what Tyler was seeing when he was in the pocket. It seemed like he had a lot of time on a number of drop backs but didn't find anyone open. Was that because K-State was really blanketing everyone or was Tyler missing his reads and missing guys while they were open. We may have a situation of one QB who can see the reads but can't get the ball there and one QB who could get the ball there but isn't seeing the reads. Hard to say.

Most of these kids don't have anywhere close to the attachment to CU that most of us have... They can start over pretty easily and it not be that devastating of a thing to them. I am with you, guys like DS and TH probably should transfer the way they are getting treated... Definetly can't blame them if they do.

I can't imagine TH losing two years of playing time to the equivalent of what, 3 games or so of playing time.

Hopefully they hang around till the offseason and see what kind of vibe they can get with the next coach though.

I think Tyler's playing scared because of the short leash. Kiesau and Tyler both said after the game that there were some openings but he waited too long or didn't trust it if a guy wasn't wide open. Definitely an area for improvement with TH.

And the only way he's going to quit playing scared is if the short rope goes away. Good luck with that...

Sorry, but give me a break. Tyler was thinking run first out there. But I put it on the coaches. They had no answer for ksu's defense. Pathetic coaching. They can't adjust to jack ****.

Sorry, but give me a break. Tyler was thinking run first out there.

Bull.

Watch him on the scramble. His eyes are always downfield, looking for a receiver. Both games he has started he has gotten passes out after a ridiculous amount of scrambling trying to avoid all the defenders in the backfield. Most of his runs have been designed or options. He takes off scrambling quickly, sure. But that's generally because of how quickly his blocking breaks down....

And the lunchbox of a 3rd grader. Great. He can't win us games If I want a really really smart guy out there as QB that can't throw and can't run, I'll go recruit Stephen Hawkings to be my QB.

Tyler has the tools, but they won't let him get the experience to go along with it. This is shaping up just like last year and it's horse****. Hansen deserves better than that.

Yep. They burned his shirt, everyone can see the season is lost-- let Hansen get the experience he needs to be the guy next year. Unless hawk wants Cody to pad his INT record some more.......

putting players into a position to fail is a coaching problem.

That is right on the oney there. Right now, after four years of recruiting and COACHING, the OL still looks like ****. Both Cody and Hansen would look better behind a OL that gave them time, but once again, hansen has upside. Cody is maxed out. And the raw Hansen, without the experience, is still better than Cody. Nowhere, but a school that h s Cody's Dad as head coach, would Cody play. (IMO)

. I don't get why so many of you guys think he is all that. I don't mean it to be. But Tyler isn't much different than Cody.

This is said with much love for ya DBT. You sound like a idot for saying that. Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder can see Hansen is waaaay more talented than Cody. Has numerous years learning Daddys offense, has three years of playing time, and still has worse stats in the games. Can't run like Tyler, can't throw like Tyler. If you can't see that, then you must be blind AND retarded. Mentally challenged.

Maybe you would be a good choice to join the staff this year-- would fit in well.

So with four passes dropped, that would have been 11 for 14, with some of those drops coming on fourth down, so drives would have been extended, meaning even better stats. hansen is the guy, the OL has to play better. And the reason of playing Cody becasue he is better at the two minute drill? Should have gone out the window after the first INT.

This...

So you are saying the WR coach has not developed the WRs? Interesting. As far as the roll out, that is to compensate for Cody not being able to see anything, combined with a OL that can't give the QB 4 seconds to look and throw. They don't know how to do anything else. Leftybuff and I were watching the game, and I made the obsevation that I felt that Hansen had some choices to run and make good yards, but would keep running around in the backfield to try to find someone to throw to. Meaning, the coaches are so intent to try to keep him from running, that they are putting him in a situation where he throws incomplete passes rather than running for 4+ yards of positive yardage. And he probably is so worried about getting yanked that instead of taking off when the pocket breaks down and getting some good yards (and first downs, like he did against KU) he just runs around forever trying to find the open WR.

Sorry, but give me a break. Tyler was thinking run first out there.

As I posted above, Lefty and I saw the exact opposite. Not only was Tyler not thinking run first, he was trying not to run at all unless the D absolutely forced him too. IMO.

I have to agree that I didn't see TH thinking run first. Sure, he was running around back there, but he had to. The oline was doing it's typical poor job this year and making scrambling a necessity. When I watched TH scrambling, there were actually times when I was just hoping he'd tuck it and run. He'd scramble, and scramble, and scramble staying behind the LOS looking downfield without finding anyone to throw to. I'd like to hear from someone at the game comment on as to whether people were actually open during the scrambles. In any case, it seemed as though he WAS looking to pass while scrambling. So much so that I was screaming at my TV for him to just take off and run at times.

by the way, hansen had one of the best scramble for 2 yards ive ever seen.

If after watching that game you think Tyler was thinking run first, you are out of your mind. He scrambled a lot and had running lanes open and did not take them instead staying back trying to get to a receiver. I am sorry DBT, stop trying to make this about Tyler not looking good. He did not look great but he was not horrible. Most of his throws were decent. He had what,7 or 8 completions with another 4 or 5 that should have been caught. Did he have a couple of bad throws, sure. None were intercepted though. He is developing well and would have been a much better option all game, especially in the 2 minute drill. His mobility would create a situation where it is more difficult to drop back in a total prevent.

yup.

Klatt was once pulled for the infamous James Cox.

Tyler played pretty decently.. He had two early misses that I wasn't happy about, but he also had a number of drops by the WRs. I find it hard to believe that someone could sanely accuse Cody of playing better than Tyler.

DBT, he wasn't looking run first at all out there man, what game are you watching? There were numerous times that as soon as he finished faking a hand off he turned to see a DL in his face and had to start scrambling, but he was definitely trying to make a play down the field. Just face it, your boy Cody is not a good QB and Tyler has been a pretty decent one so far this season.

Im at a loss for words really. Bringing in Cody was a terrible idea and real surprising he threw 2 more picks. Also I hope we never have to see Espy on punt return again, that guy seriously belongs at Ft. Lewis.
