At least CSU is tanking...

Cool. I am so glad that Nebraska and CSU suck that I don't even care that we also suck, have also sucked for the three years prior to this, and will continue to suck until at least 2012, at which point our coach that sucks hopefully won't be extended for another three years as a reward for sucking.

I would much rather CSU be having a TCU-like season so we wouldn't have to explain ourselves for the first loss.

Regardless of your feelings toward the Mtn West. Even Buffs fans have to admit that 3 games against BYU, Utah, and TCU in 4 weeks was a brutal stretch of games.

The losses to Idaho and SDSU were terrible.

CSU killed us, and everyone knew that CSU would be lucky to win 5 games this year. What does that say about us.

they have twice the number of recruits as we have...only one from the state of CO....TX, FL, an CA are the majority....solid states for prospects.

Fairchild is buddies with Urban Meyer (they were on staff for 3 or so years together at CSU under Sonny Lubick). CSU's recruiting strategy is to get Urban to tell him who they were close to offering but didn't. It will work imo.

CSU lost to Weber State, although the result shows W. The Weber State QB took a snap in order to take a knee with the sole intent of moving the ball to the middle of the field for a short chip-shot Field Goal in the waning seconds. The QB fumbled the snap and CSU recovered. REALLY. AT HOME....

I've got a good connection up there and they are really worried. Losses to San Diego State, Idaho and Weber State, with a Senior QB scares the crap out of them. Rightfully.

Rumor has it that Urban Meyer was one of the first people Fairchild contacted after he was hired. Meyer basically told him to recruit Florida hard because the depth of high school talent was so great and many of the "two stars" coming out of there were heads above other areas of the country due to the overall speed of the prospects.

This is the first class where Fairdchild & Co.'s strategy seems to be getting some real traction in Florida as well as California and Texas, where they focus heavily on skill players and then supplement the classes with mostly non-skill players from CO, OK, and MO. Remains to be seen if it will work, but honestly watching some of the freshman this season you can see an atheletic difference from what Sonny left behind.

This class is starting to look like the one that could get CSU to be more competitve with the top of the conference again. Although I think it really hinges on whether they can get QB Shreve on campus and out of a Major League Baseball team's farm system. Even then....it will be difficult as BYU, Utah, and TCU are continuing to recruit extremely well and at a BCS level.
