1. Does Bohn fire Hawkins before the end of the season? If so, who takes over for the rest of the season?

2. Does Bohn fire Hawkins the day after the Nebraska game?

3. If Bohn does not fire Hawkins the day after the Nebraska game, does that mean there is no money to do so? Or does it mean he is out of his freaken mind?

Just an interesting observation about the situation at CU. It is a scary reminder of the 2007 season for Nebraska. :wow:

If changes are made, things will get better. You can count on it!

dan is gonna be here a long time.

yep, at least through thanksgiving. then he'll get a lovely holiday parting gift from us and be on his way back to some football outpost where zen and the art of character building will play better.

Cry me a river, Flanders. When was the last time Nebraska played below .400 ball and had 4 back to back losing seasons?

nebraska is a ****hole

You are correct.

That noted in Cally's last year they had higher expectations than we did this year (they were talking BCS bowl game) and had they not had their paid victims who had lost before they ever stepped foot in Lincoln for the OOC schedule would have had a similar record to ours that year.

I see a lot of similarities, each team with a lot of young talent seemingly without any sense of direction. Each team lacking a functional identity as a team. Each team no longer garnering respect from their opponents much less any fear or worry. Each team trying to make appearences to the outside world of a unified front while giving off clear signs that many inside the program including key players and even some assistants no longer respect or have confidence in the coach.

Clear signs on each team that the coach no longer has/had the attention of the players and is/was scrambling to save his own hide. Time for a coaching change since once this is gone it doesn't come back.

You nailed it with this post. We will just have to wait to see how things play out with Bohn and Hawkins. I wonder if their futures are tied together the same as with Peterson's and Callahan's at Nebraska?

I'm beginning to fear Hawk is not going anywhere. The U will sacrifice the 2010 season as well to save some money.

A respectable athletic program and highly regarded football program are just not a priority. That is the only way Bohn and Plati or DiStefano could have spewed any of their endorsements of Hawk this week and still manage to keep a straight face.

I think they just may choose to ride out their latest mistake and I sure hope I'm no prophet.

The "no money/can't afford it" issue should be a simple investment strategy, and should have the complementary concept of, "Can we afford NOT to do it?" That too should be a significant question to pose.

Ask the region's top HS coaches - are their top players more inclined to join CU Football? Is Coach Hawkins' camp attendees flooding in from Texas and Calif, Arizona, Oklahoma, Neb? All of those should be his prime recruiting bases along with Colorado. Are those demographic numbers increasing or decreasing - because that says a lot about recruiting progress and it's potential.

And go find the HS coaches that don't like Hawkins & Co, and ask for specifics. If they're dead-set from letting CU coaches recruiting their players, how many and what reasons do they have? Balance that against the Yes-Men.

Bohn should buck up and enjoy his own decisions. Sounds like he's the one that needs to raise the money since he's the one signing off on this train-wreck. He's the one whose thrown the switches.

IMO CU can't afford to bring Hawk back. It would cost them more than buying him out in the long run.

Already is...look at yesterday's "homecoming" attendance - slightly over 45K - 10K down from the KU sellout. I'm sure the weather probably had a little to do with it - but I remember plenty of times in the late 80's-early 90's era when there was 2 ft of snow in the stands (yes, the snow outdid NROTC's removal efforts ) and a night game with wind chill at -20 degrees and...

THE STADIUM WAS STILL PACKED!

10k unsold tickets - what's the lost revenue on that one game alone?

Going sinker (kinda like the program unfortunately :sad2:)

And realistically, there were at last 5k or more that didn't arrive anyway. Plus another 10-15k that left before half-time. THAT is a huge cost in concessions. Hawkins' decision to get blown out in the First Half takes a terrible toll on stadium revenue, which is hugely impacted by halftime sales. (Estimates are that Folsom revenues are about 40% pre-game-to-First-Half, then 50% Half-Time, then 10% from mid-3rd Qtr to end of game.

By having less than half the crowd in the stands, and almost none of those leaving early are stopping by to get "one more T-Shirt or one more blanket", Hawkins is sending a clear message to those vendors: "Welcome to my program - I get paid plenty, and you lose big-time."

Good question and probably the one thing we have going for us in getting rid of the Turkey (Hawks have to much pride to share a name with this loser so we should change his name.)

The AD has already been heavily discounting tickets this year to try to get them sold so even assuming a heavily discounted average price of $30 a seat your 10k unsold works out to be about $300,000. On top of that add a guestimate of one paid parking at $10 for every 5 fans (I am being conservative) adds another $20,000 in lost revenue. Most likely each of those fans would have averaged at least $10 in after cost revenue for refreshments, souvenirs, programs, etc. meaning another $100,000. Total it all up and you are looking at a one game loss in revenue of at least $420,000, nothing to sneeze at.

This of course does not take into account an even bigger issue of long term revenue. It is no secret that when football teams are winning it is easier to sell season ticket renewals. Unless some reason can be given for hope it will be very hard for the AD to sell tickets next year. People will question the value of paying for something that isn't a lot of fun to go to and certainly not a source of pride. Many of these will be the people who in an already down economy are paying substantial seat licenses and hold multiple tickets in their businesses names.

We have not even gotten into the question of donations to the program and the impact of this disaster on them.

At some point it will be hard to ignore the implications. The sooner a change is made the less damage will be done.

Then there are the advertisers. Somebody at ESPN and FoxSW has to approach advertisors and sell those second half advertising slots. The only game that provided four quarters of competitive football was against the jayhawks. The advertisers are going to cough up less and less for the opportunity to sell ads. CU has been attracting the likes of Bosley Hair Restoration, Cash-4-Gold, and Enzyte thus far. The next step is a darker form of oblivion.

I think there is a chance that Hawkins could be fired at the end of the season. The will by management and the pressure from outside probably puts Bohn in the wants to, needs to make a change category. But I'd put the chances of it happening at 40% or less. Financial reasons being the biggest challenge.

I know, MB. Rather, it's the short-range view of finances. Also, since this leadership group is responsible for putting us into these financial straits, what's the realistic chance they'll do better with more money? "Hey, if we can sucker these folks once, why not twice? Three times?"

Great. Aside from the loyal of most loyal Buff fans, on a national scale, the program now only attracts bald guys, CougarTown divorcees, and guys w/small d***s!

PLease stop the ride, I WANT OFF!

Lord, what has CU football become???:cry:

Going sinker....

In light of D. Scott's leaving. All of these questions should be front and center on somebody's desk. Who is in charge of Bohn?

That person needs to have an employee evaluation scheduled for the AD and the entire Football Coaching staff.

It's going to get ugly in Boulder before it gets better. Some hard decisions have to be made (or better be made) and soon.

Bohn and Hawkins are not tied together the same way as Peterson and Callahan were. For that, we should be grateful.

I believe that Bohn would love to can Hawk right now if he could. He's probably on the phone with Benson trying to get the OK.
