Is D Scott leaving a good thing for CU Football?

And I don't mean in the sense that it is good for this year's team (disagree with that notion completely). What I mean is that it has to be clear to any donors that have been told recruiting is going well and no players are leaving that this is a blatant lie. Let's just hope this isn't the tip of the iceberg and Bohn/Distephano/Benson take quick action. Sadly there is a pretty low chane of this happening.

If its a wake up call to the morons that are in power that Talkins has to go, yes its a good thing..

New poster here, Razorback fan, but now I go to school at CU and feel like I should put in my 2¢. It hurts to have big time recruits leave the program...a la Mitch Mustain and Damian Williams leaving the s***show that was Arkansas after Nutt's last season. To be honest it hurts up front, and its never good to have talent leave the program... but those two leaving definitely helped get the ball rolling on Nutt being forced out... hopefully Scott's leaving does the same.

Agreed.. It hurts perception on the outside but we got to rebuilt what's inside the program first. Talkins has to go..

Welcome to the board.

:yeahthat:

Now get me a ****ing sandwhich and a shot! (no beer, need something stronger for today)

How does this impact the APR? If Scott finishes the semester in good academic standing, it's no big deal, right?

Sure would hate to lose Scott and also lose a scholly.

I agree with you. The crap about bringing in new assistants won't do anything. Hawk had alot of those guys for his whole tenure here, it falls on him when those guys don't get it done. Bohn needs to clean house and get the program turned around, and all that will do that is a new coach and new assistants... the culture needs to be changed.

Nope. I will say though that if I was him I'd leave too. Falling on your sword aboard a sinking ship for the sake of your teammates went out with the dark ages.

Does this program not know what to do with a premiere back???

Agreed. If it gets DH canned immediately, it would be a good thing.

sorry guys, but DH is not leaving after this year. I wish DS the best of luck, and I really wish that he was a star at CU. In short - you want to see great recruits come in and excel like they're supposed to. It's good for a program. It's not the end of the world if they don't produce, especially if others do produce.

With Hawkins coming back next year, I have no idea how this helps our program.

Double edged sword. Always bad to lose that kind of talent, especially when we never really got to see that tallent perform to the level we all expected.

His departure may hasten what would certainly occur this year or next anyway; so in that respect a good thing.

I think the worst impact is that I doubt we will see another 5* type tallent w/ any interest in our program for a long while. The question will be how many years until CU garners that kind of attention again with or without Hawkins? Hawk stays... tallented kids won't trust him or his longevity. Hawk goes... Only w/ a real high profile charismatic replacement will we garner any real talent in the near future.

its a great thing for him to leave he wants to play....for me its a great hes leaving cause i would hate to see a player like him not have a chance in hell to shine....ill be watching alot of ucla/cu games in the next few years there geting our best players so ill be watching them play and if i was any of the kids out there i wouldnt come to cu cause if there good they wont play much its the lil things....

There is no way to spin this.

Even if DS wasn't as good as advertised, didn't work as hard as he needed to, and didn't have the best attitude... it's still bad for the program that the highest rated recruit in the history of the program decided to transfer when there wasn't anyone at his position that was lighting things up.

i agree totally buffnik i think hagan has a man crush on r.stewart i hate being like this but he does nothing but run west n east and trips over his on feet and hagone thinks hes the best we have give me a ****ing break.......

Hagan's also called RS out for having no interest in even learning how to pass block or knowing what his pass blocking assignments would be. Hence, Sumler in passing situations.

You guys just don't get it... If Scott leaving is what finally gets Hawk the Axe, then this is great for the future of CU. Sucks that we lost someone like that and it will be bad for the program for a few years for sure, but what would you rather have, 3-4 more years of Hawkins being 2-10 or a new guy that can get another DS type player?

If it gets rid of Hawk, a little good.

We just lost the #2 overall recruit from a couple of years ago. Coaches can use this and Marcus Houston as a reason for top RBs to not come here. While some don't think Scott was good, he needed more opportunities. Our RB depth also just took a huge hit. We now have two 175 lb backs and Sumler. Sorry if that doesn't excite me.

Is there a Bright side Of Scott Leaving

So I'm not trying to down play the fact that we just lost a kid with tremendous potential. And although I was never sure he was our best back, he was talented; and without question, as a 5 star recruit he was a poster boy for any high caliber skill players willing to take a chance on CU.
However, I think we all have been waiting for the kids to start jumping ship. Unfortunately it really reminds me of the way the team fell apart after the 'scandel' with an unnamed female kicker. (cough. . . ) But now that it happened I think the athletic director may be forced to put in a new coach, and a big name one at that. I mean, the way I see it, is that if the media does pick it up we will be shown to the nation as the tattered program we seem to be. I also think that the Football program is too important to just let fall apart, (Fingers crossed). If this is the case though the university in the lime light will be forced to make a big decision. Not just hire a small coach to fill a slot, but hire a succesful bcs caliber coach with whom new player can already bank on.
As far as the shoes we will have to fill. NO BIG DEAL. We all kept saying that he had to come into his own. That he had great potential; and while he may, he never made a difference here. I really do wish him the best, he seemed like a very good kid, with a great head on his shoulders. Butttt, I think now Lockridge will get a chance to shine. I think he has the potential to be a very shifty speedy back, one with a bit more size than speedy. Speedy is a bruiser so i'm not worried about third and shorts or goal lines. But Lockridge will be an excellent catching running back, plus I think he has tremendous talent once in the open.
The one looming thing though; is can our line become solid to open up a running game. Without them, even Rodney can't be good consistantly.
Anyways. Just wanted to provide a little more insight to what is somewhat of a Drab situation.

:wtf: You are a conundrum wrapped in a logical fallacy surrounded by a sea of depression. For only a severe depression can cause such ridiculocity from a "wise old man."

Re: Is there a Bright side Of Scott Leaving

There are only reputation points involved, I believe. We've all seen Speedy deliver a more consistent danger to opposing defenses. And since Scott wasn't given a chance to contribute routinely, actual performance loss should be close to zero.

The effect in the locker-room will be interesting to speculate, based on the on-field performance.

Along the recruiting trails, however, I would guess there's a lot of cold-water being thrown onto prospects' interest in CU Football. Fortunately, the CU coaches should be able to spin this as "Scott wasn't important but you are - trust us" and 17-year-old's might believe it.

Why do people think Lockridge has shown so much more than Scott did? Not trying to hate on Lockridge here, but every Scott detractor always seems to claim that Lockridge is 10x the back Scott is. I must have missed him making significant contributions? He's probably more fun to watch because he's smaller and quicker, but I'm failing to remember when he stepped in and lit up opposing teams.
