Oh my.

There is hope. I am glad, not to see a man get fired, but that the hope CU FB will not be left to drown by the admin.

Re: Hawkins in Job in Jeapordy (ringos words with specific win requirements)

in class. wtf does he say?

Basically nothing. No "We wish DS the best" or "Sorry to see him go" or "DS is a good kid and we'll miss him" or any number of other decent things that could have been said. Just a smug deer in the headlights look coupled with "I don't have a comment" or "Don't want to get into that" iterations.

There is obviously more going on here behind the scenes. I am sure I will never here the full story. But the guy is obviously pissed about this. Can't say I don't blame him.

Better to say nothing at all.

He just says no comment. I don't really have a problem with that. It's more about how he looks. He's just done. Looks like he is going to cry. I feel bad for the guy, but we just need to move on.

I give him a C for his answer then. Not classy, but at least not awful along the lines of Hagan. About 2.6 GPA level answer.

I had the same thought. He was about to ball.

Re: Hawkins in Job in Jeapordy (ringos words with specific win requirements)

DH's answer could have been worse. I'll give you that. Hagan kind of came off bad IMO. But for a guy who's claim to success is "cleaning up the progarm" and "shining up the public image", saying no comment, instead of some innocuous "We wish DS the best" is pretty poor IMO. Why not take the high road? My guess is his ego won't let him. He's right, DS is wrong in his mind.

Damn title FAIL on my part.

Hagan just needed th STFU, but he just kept talking. I would have thought that Hawkins would have at least had some type of prepared statement..

Re: Hawkins in Job in Jeapordy (ringos words with specific win requirements)

That sounds like Ringo's opinion, not "inside info."

Re: Hawkins in Job in Jeapordy (ringos words with specific win requirements)

don't sound so hopeful DBT
Yeah, I knew it would come across that way,. No, I'm just being honest. I did not see anything in his blog that indicated he had inside info.

man....the guy is looking pretty stressed out...i felt bad for him a little bit there

It's a pretty well informed opinion of a guy that spends most of his waking hours following our AD... I will take it. The concrete #s on the W and L's definitely help.

He was on KOA this morning at 6:45. The guy has just lost it as far as any semblance of calm and cool goes. He has become terse and short. When he comes on KOA every Wednesday morning, Roach will say, "And now we have Dan Hawkins, head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. Hello Dan." "Hello."

He doesn't say, "Hi Roach, how ya doing this morning." Just, "Hello." When Roach asked him about DS, all he gave were kurt, one word answers. The guy is stressed and a shell of his former self. Very telling and very sad, IMO.

I know you do. You are all heart.

hey man, according to this board, all I am is a bleeding heart liberal. but really, all I feel is sad for the guy. He really did try his hardest, and he's failing miserably. Not a fun thing to go through. His life ambitions are ****ed. I don't wish that on anyone but Slick Rick and a few other choice individuals.

I definitely do feel terrible for the guy as a person.....some of us folk on the board think the guy is a "sociopath" & other BS....but Coach Hawk to me is a genuinely good hearted person, good family man, and was a very fun loving charismatic character...

That doesn't make up for the fact that he's failing his job, it's just a touch situation, because I (like most everyone else) really liked the guy at first. He was hard not to like, but the job & his inability to coach has really taken that from him.

Re: Hawkins in Job in Jeapordy (ringos words with specific win requirements)

I heard him too this am. I am way beyond frustrated with his performance, but I do feel for the guy, he tried, his approach did not work, an that is being kind at this point, and now faces the prospect of coaching at DII schools the rest of his career.

Re: Hawkins in Job in Jeapordy (ringos words with specific win requirements)

Difficult situation for Dan. Sounds like the writing really is on the wall, as it needs to be... That interview is hard to watch, even as someone who is not in favor of Hawkins coaching this program.

He is a difficult person to dislike. He is obviously a decent guy and wanted to succeed here. He just doesn't have the tools, unfortunately.

Me too.. I mean it's not like Hawk came here trying to lose. He's simply in over his head and doesn't know what to do. This of course doesn't mean I think he shouldn't be sent packing, but I do feel bad for him give the situation he's in.
