Driving to work last night, both Sandy Clough and callers were talking about Dave Logan as the next CU coach.

I don't know if we can get any worse than we are right now, but that might be pretty damn close.:sad1:

I'm not saying it would be a great hire, but I don't think he (or anyone) could possibly be any worse than juicebox

Sandy Clough is such a tool and the people that actually suggest that Logan should be the next CU coach are a bunch of frickin morons..

Its really sad that parts of our fanbase can be that dumb, but unfortunately they are.. :sad1:

is he seriously considered for a Big XII job by anyone else? CSU? AFA?

the answer is no. hiring a high school coach is not that the program needs.

I think the success of Art Bryles will make some people give Dave Logan serious consideration.

If nothing else, he would be a PR bonus for the University and athletic department.

 I believe Briles actually went from HS to RB or WR coach at TTech before for about 4 or 5 years before he took the Houston job..

Dave Logan wants to be the RB coach for the new coach then fine.. Until then, have fun coaching Mullen and doing your lame Broncos play by play job..

Hire him!

I cant believe I just said that.

It cant get worse.

And if the stories about money are true he'd come cheaply.

Well....being a Mullen alumn/homer who watches a lot of their games.....the Mullen team may give our Buffs a run for their money....

Hire Logan and we WILL have a top 10 recruiting class just by getting the entire Mullen team to sign up!

BUT....i don't think Logan would ever want to leave his posh Denver Broncos playcaller set up. I'm fairly certain that even if we offered, he'd say "no".

I've already had a co-worker ask my opinion about that.

FML.

Logan is a great Buff, but I know of not one coach who made the jump straight from HS to CFB and was successful. Gerry Faust? Love that guy because he did to ND what Coach Buttercup has done to the Buffs.

EDIT: oh yeah, I forgot to mention Sandy Clough stinks.

Baylor said, "We can't get any worse than Kevin Steele" so they found someone with Texas ties, an TCU alum who was head-coach at UKentucky, Guy Morriss.

Morriss survived a massive violations scandal at UK for 2 years, fled to Baylor, bragged about his Texas ties, but his best seasons were Years 1 and 2 - with Steele's "players". Yet he persisted in "Wait til Year 3 and 4 when I have my own recruits."

And he did worse and worse. I don't know why coaches are given any leeway for refusing to coach up the players they voluntarily inherit! Those players are stuck by the NCAA to remain in that same school - they have NO CHOICE who the coach is - and punished by waiting out a year if they try to transfer.

Yet the coaches have no problem blaming old inherited players for any lack of success. And they get paid handsomely for using that excuse AND refusing to coach-up the team they volunteered to take over.

Baylor went even further down on the recruiting totempole during those four seasons. They said it couldn't get worse, and yet they set themselves up for it.

The difference is Dave Logan is heavily involved with the Broncos organization as well. He spends time with the coaches, attends practice, analyzes the games etc. So there is no argument that the guy doesn't know or understand football.

From what I've seen at Mullen, the guy is the greatest coach of talent. He makes every guy on the team better, and makes every player do things right every time. Plus, (and all you guys are going to love this, coming from a Mullen guy) we already know the guy can recruit!

this is not the hire we need right now. we think we have a coach that is too small for the job right now, imagine how overwhelming it would be for a high school coach. think about it from a reputation and recruiting perspective....I can hear it now..."the buffs got themselves a high school coach to match their talent level"...

All of what you say is probably true. I'm just saying I know of not one HS coach who made the jump from HS HC to CFB HC and had success. Maybe Logan can, but still it is a huge risk if not one other coach has ever done it. Odds are agianst Logan being the one guy who can. I'm not saying he can't, just that it is risky.

Two words: Gerry Faust.

I've seen Dave Logan up close while coaching Mullen. I'll tell you right now that he's not that good. His MO is to follow the side judge up and down the field (at least as long as the play remains within the coaches box) and he chirps all freaking game long. His assistants do basically the same thing, until Dave pipes up and says "Hey, I'm the only one who talks to the officials!" Seriously, I swear to God I've seen this happen. He has success at the high school level because he has name recognition within the state, and can openly recruit to Mullen. He has, and I sh!t you not, somewhere around 20 assistants. Even with all of these advantages, he has won exactly ONE state championship at Mullen. And we want this guy to be our head coach? Awful idea.

As was mentioned before, if he wants to come in to be a position coach, like RB or WR, I'd be fine with that. Otherwise, no thanks.

Voice of reason props to Sacky! And Sandy Clough is a total asshat that knows nothing about sports outside of the Denver metro area, or what he heard on ESPN the night before his radio show.

Dave Logan is also not very well liked by Colorado High School coaches because of Mullen's perceived recruiting advantage...he would have a hard time recruiting the state's best players.

He's also created a high school football program that is rated top 40 in the nation right now from the State of Colorado, where football is not very well respected

....and most of everything stated above sounds like bashing from a Boulder homer who is not looking forward to his beating in the CHSAA Playoffs on Friday :smile2:

Love Logan, but not as coach at CU. I think he'd have a hard time recruiting outside the state. Who outside of Colorado has heard of him? Yeah, he played in the NFL, but it was a long time ago and I seriously doubt any 18 year olds know it. I have no idea who our next coach should be, but whoever it is has to have credibility. CU cannot afford to f*** it up again.

I make no bones about my dislike of all things associated with Mullen. They have advantages no other school in the state enjoys. Having said that, nothing I said was untrue. He's not that good of a coach. He's part time - at best. His assistants do all the prep work. He spends the entire game chirping at the refs, who can't stand him either. I know this first hand. I've seen it with my own eyes. He created nothing. He inherited a program that had a leg up on everybody else when he got there. That's why he chose to go there instead of staying at Chatfield.

Briles went to Texas Tech in 2000 (Leach's first year) and coached RB's for 3 years - then got a head coaching job at Houston.

Logan wouldn't be my first choice but I certainly would be open minded to hiring him.

I definitely don't think we could hire him as the HC. However, I wouldn't mind seeing him hired as a position coach just so he could bring all of his Mullen players with him next year. They're seriously loaded with talent that we could really use.

Grand Junction had a team in the national top 10 in the late 80's. Maybe that coach is still available. Anybody that is in favor of hiring Dave Logan to coach the Buffs needs to turn in thier football fan credentials. There is no way Dave would succeed at this level as an HC.

relax. logan has about as much chance of becoming the next hc at CU as i do.

it ain't going to happen. it is just local sports "journalists" stirring up **** so that they have something to talk about!

things are going to work out. it is just that the next month of purification by fire are going to be painful.

I agree, but it drives me nucking futs every time this subject comes up and some retard throws Dave Logan's name out there. It's like dealing with a 5-year old who can't reason properly.

Dave Logan becomes the next HC of CU I will stop being a fan.

:stupid:

While I would never stop being a fan, I will not support CU financially at all if this were to happen. I guess the retards on local talk radio need something to mumble about for a few hours and that always seems to be an easy topic.

Hey...I never said hire the guy...He IS NOT NOR WOULD NOT be my choice....I'm just sticking up for the guy cuz I'm a Mullen homer & like him.

Chillax people....he would never say yes even if we offered
