Hawk was preening his ruffled feathers after the game Saturday, and calling out loyal fans who chose to protest the state of the program they loved, and who pay his salary. He on the other hand is only getting what success he has thanks to what we have seen all along. Here are the top 3 examples:

1. Tyler Hanson-most were at least willing to give Cody a chance at the beginning of the season, but it was obvious by halftime of the first game that he couldn't get the job done. We all knew the change needed to be made, but Hawk waited till game SIX to make the change at starter, and even pulled his stupid Cody act the following week at KSU. Especially funny about the "experience" point he tried to make, Tyler has coolly executed efficient scoring drives to take the lead very late against both KU and aTm.

2. Darrell Scott-we have been begging for more playing time for Scott. The few times he has had more than 5 carries in a half, he averaged over 7 yards per carry. Thanks to Hawk and his lunch pail mentality we lost a great athlete who saw his NFL chances slipping away.

3. Wide Receivers-we watched as Hawk started Espy and Ebner, while Simas and Simmons remained on the sidelines. This led to opposing defenses leaving sometimes 9 guys in the box because they had zero fear of our passing attack. Again we saw the obvious need for the playmakers standing on the sideline, but they didn't practice hard enough or test out best. Now he was putting out groupings of Jefferson, McKnight, Simas, and Simmons and they delivered with Simas averaging 20 yards a catch.

I know this is obvious to pretty much everybody here, but that is what makes it so sad. WE knew better than the highest paid employee in the state what this team needed to succeed, and yet he only now is making these changes because he has no other options. This guy needs to be dropped like a bad habit.

Come on. Not to defend Cody, because I wanted Hansen, but the defense is what cost us the first two games, not Cody. Come on.

I said they were 3 examples, I didn't say that alone cost us the games. Regardless of the defense, it was still obvious by halftime game 1 that Cody wasn't getting it done.

I don't think Cody cost us any of the three losses he started. However, I do think we would not have beaten Kansas and aTm had Cody started. jmho

Agreed. I'd love to think Tyler would have put up 60 points or whatever, but our D was the problem the first two games. Maybe Tyler could have made some plays against CSU, but it just isn't right to be saying Cody cost us those games.

I won't defend Hawk playing Espy or Ebner over Simmons because I think he needs to be out there, but Simas started as soon as he was eligible and healthy. He was out against Wyoming I believe due to an ankle injury? Remember, he was out the first two games for being suspended for violating a team rule.

The Scott thing has been beaten to death. I think he needed more touches, but it's hard to argue with what Speedy does for us. Our OL is also very much an issue and I don't think Scott is made to run behind that kind of garbage. Speedy gets a lot of his yards when he should be stuffed for < 2 yards or so, but he squeaks in between people and eeks out a 5 yarder. He's just a better fit for us at this point in time. Scott behind a good OL might be a better back, but we don't know and won't know.

not the csu game.

in my mind, the O should be able to score at least one TD per qrtr. the D needs to hold the other team to less than that.

CU should be able to score 28 in the 1st half vs csu.

IMO if Tyler was playing in the first two games we would have been much more likely to win them. You can't look at the score in a vacuum and just assume the defense would have given up the same number of points regardless of the team's offensive performance.

If Hansen was in the game it could be reasonably assumed that we would have moved the ball a little better, scored some more points, reduced the number of opponent possessions, and simply had an entirely different game vs. both CSU and Toledo.

Longer drives, spreading the field out more, better running without 9 guys in the box, more first downs, more rest for the defense--- yes, I think with Tyler in those games had a chance of turing out different. Toledo may have been a loss, but then with more experience, WVU, KSU and even UT games are alot different too. If Tyler had started, IMO we would go bowling this year. 7-8 wins, maybe take the MU game and win the north. Now--- maybe a bowl game barely, if they can win on the road-- and I think they can at ISU, OSU will be a tough one. Hate to see a win against NU and still just have 5 wins and no bowl. Just that one win against CSU could have made the difference in a bowl season. Very, VERY stupid of Hawk to try to redshirt EVERY OTHER QB than his son. Yeah, that doesn't stink of nepotism there. Way to quell all QB competiton-- make it so there are no other QBs that can play!!!

Oh, was trying to spread out Tyler and COdy?? Why?? He should assume that he can get another QB in here that is decent-- knowing Hirschman is coming alone should mean he does not want to take away another year for Hirschman in Hirschmans eyes. This was solely to give Cody the reins without having an option for a backout outperforming his boy.

Love Cody. Do not love the stunts his Dad pulled. Still don't think we can win at OSU and probably will get blitzed to death by Suh and company and could easily lose that game. My guess 4-8. Better not be enough to keep Dan.
