this is true across the board.

adversity reveals the character of the staff, the players, the boosters, the administration, and everyone.

we cannot control much of what is happening, despite our donations and our emails. what we CAN control is how we deal with the adversity.

when bohn suggests that we should be focusing more on what we can do to help the program, rather than focusing on all that is wrong, he's not off base. it is up to us diehards to try to help the program through these rough spots.

remember again that the program is bigger than any one person. coaches, players, and administrators come and go, but we are here forever.

so, live up to that responsibility. Buffs for Life. be patient and be kind. this will pass. we lived through fairbanks; we'll survive hawkins.

fairbanks begat the greatest coach we ever had: Coach Mac. shoulder to shoulder and maybe hawkins leads to an even greater coach.

let me quote several of your professors... "it depends."

my point is more of a macro-philosophical type of point: the adversity is here, whether we want it or not. how we react to it is the measure of who we are.

this is a lesson i learned through very hard experience.

Penultimate means "next to last," as in "In Dan Hawkins' penultimate game, against OSU, he improbably pulled off the upset, but it didn't save his sorry as*"
