Loved Hawk's teleconference today

awesome! Did he still say we're going to Stillwater?

Pretty much. Some reporter asked him about playing on Thursday night and he responded with the "That's life" line. I have never seen a guy talk so much while actually saying very little.

Somebody want to summarize?

-On what makes Rodney Stewart so good: "Good feet. He is quick. Nice athleticism."
-On whether he feels his job in jeopardy: "The Chancellor and AD have been great... they have been awesome. These guys know what we stepped into when I took over."
-On playing on Thursday night: "That's life. We like the exposure for the program. I would prefer to play at 1:00 every Saturday."

Some more, but not a whole lot.

AGREED....whatever happened to the typical 1:30 start time in Boulder....it no longer exists

The Saturday timeframe is reserved for the main event, not unimportant curiosities and niche backwater programs.

I doubt ESPN and FCS will dangle so many TV opportunities in front of Bohn next year. Maybe that will help bring football back to Boulder on Saturdays.

Bull S-hit. Once the little general arrives there shall be much TV interest. Esecially after he rips Mark Richts heart out and feeds it to him for dinner.

Wish Hawk was as good a coach as he is with 'Coach Speak'. The man still thinks things will POP. Scheduling & youth, are still the two choice excuses. Starting slow too, continues to be a problem.

Everytime I hear or see the phrase "we'll see", it makes me want to gouge my yes out with an hot poker.

Obviously he hasn't seen what other coaches have been doing around the country in less time...

Here is what he said about penalties:

"I think a lot of it is our guys are trying too hard," Hawkins said. "It is like they want to do it so bad, it is like they are giving it every ounce of sweat they have."

Some of it may be guys pressing, but it is mostly the fact that this team lacks focus and is undisciplined. Goddamn, is it so hard to admit your team has issues? We're trying too hard? That is the best you got?

Like snowbuff said, our teams under Hawkins have not been heavily penalized in the past. In fact, we may have set the record for fewest penalties by a CU team in '06 or '07.

I just see this as another sign that things are falling apart.

I think this is interesting. I remember one of my biggest complaints about Barnett was the number of penalties his teams racked up:

2001 - 97
2002 - 86
2003 - 84
2004 - 94
2005 - 116

Under Hawkins:

2006 - 63
2007 - 84
2008 - 65
2009 - 93 - Through 10 games

Some of that has to do with only playing 12 games instead of 13 or 14, but still a pretty big difference.

2010 Schedule

You could be right because no one wants to mess with the little general.

It's nice to see so many Saturdays on next year's schedule. Maybe the AD's from CSU, Hawaii, UGA, Cal and the B12 schools will have enough clout to keep them their and get them on the tube.

TV revenue.
That was a very wise decision by Bohn, get the TV money while you can. Only jackoff, obscure networks will be looking for CU on TV in 2010. Let's say you schedule CU on TV for an away game - what are their chances of winning - 10%. If CU gets on TV, it will be because of the other team.

It's his way. The positive mantra. He never says that he or his staff could coach or prepare them better. He never says we need to quit making penalties and execute better on offense. It's always some little thing here or there.

This guy has the fire and passion of a three-toed sloth.

It would be interesting to see the breakdown between delay of games penalties, false starts, and illegal formations. Maybe the penalties just seem worse for me under Hawkins, because our offense has been so bad, that any mistake, makes it that much more difficult to move the chains. Thanks for the stats.
