CJ (the Asst. AD at CU) was asked by Les Shapiro about the future of Dan Hawkins and his response was:
The only appropriate comment for me at this point is: Dan is the head coach this week and we support him in the hard work he is doing to get the team ready to play OSU this week.

I bought hot dogs and s,mores but don't think we will have a bonfire until after the Corn is done. (and maybe not until the senior dinner.)

You will hurt recruiting so much more if you wait until after the senior dinner to fire Dan and start interviewing candidates. I think this is done on Friday if we lose-- and I have no doubt that that is the most likely outcome of the game.

And by hurting, I mean by the time you hire the coach, he gets his assistants set, and they get a gameplan for recruiting you give them only a month or so to recruit. The new staff will need longer than that; and I don't think that you hinder thier efforts just to make Dan feel more comfortable at the senior dinner (except Cody is not a Senior-- so would they go anyway?) I guess everyone would, but would expect not all parents to go to that one, just the Seniors parents.

I hope you are right, but I fear that is most likely not going to happen. I don't know about the buyout implications if Dan is fired before the end of the year. Our best chance to beat NU is by not dividing the locker room before the game, so I don't think Bohn will fire Dan until after that game. Nebraska game is too big a game. Unless Mike has a block buster announcement to make. (I.E. Shanahan) If the senior dinner is scheduled soon after the NU game, then there is a chance Mike will quietly search for a new HC and let Dan say goodbye to the players.

Turn the radio ahead to Saturday... I need the scores so I can bet them
... oh and see if the radio works in 2013.... that will help us...

I think this is done as soon as Bohn has a deal with a candidate, whether it's Friday after the game, win or lose, or anytime in between.

**** it. Mike ain't busy now. Fire Dan and let Mike coach the team for the NU game. Problem solved. Plus, I would be alot more fired up about the NU game if Mike was coaching.

Beg to differ, if we are getting a new Coach Mike is very very very busy. But I would not be opposed to letting Cabral HC the NU game. But then you run a chance of running him off if he doesn't get the HC job after that.

Asked if he would be ready to pack his belongings should he be bought out, Dan Hawkins simply stated, "I'll go."

Wrong Mike. I think that he was referring to Shanahan not Bohn.

Hence my argument earlier in the season that severing ties could have been done earlier, say around the KSU loss (6-20) or Missouri (17-36). We've had ample evidence, 4 years worth now, of inconsistent preparation and poor coaching and game planning. Its sucks but the results tell the truth.

Moving earlier gives more lead time to announce your intention to the coaching world that your hiring. You have more time to interview and more time to protect recruits. NU did this with Callahan. Watson and Cotton got to keep their jobs mostly because they protected recruits until Pelini arrived. I believe we could have (still can) task Cabral with that job.

NU did not do this with Callahan. He was fired after the last game of the year - a loss to CU.

Wow that one made me LOL and now people in the office are wondering what the heck is wrong with me

how do you have 66 posts and have been a member since Sept 2005?

Still at the old site eh?

Did CJ really use the words "This Week"?

That's Huge!

No pun intended.
