Can a coach donate money to the UNiversity AD they work for?

I know it probably doesn't happen, but it seems like a coach could put his money where his mouth is and donate to the AD to help with facilities, scholarships, etc. I know Barnett supplemented his staff, but that not quite what I'm talking about.

Is this in violation of NCAA rules?

No, it's not against NCAA rules and from what I gather it seems to be a somewhat common practice at many schools for coaches to donate to their athletic department's development club...

Franchione gave a donation to A&M when he was there to build something, I forget what. It was a pretty large donation, though. Upwards of $1 million I believe.

Joe Pa gives money to the university, not the AD. I believe the library and some other stuff was paid for by him and is named for him/his family.

Cool, good to hear. I'd be interested to see if Hawk has donated any loot.

I don't know if our football gameday programs have this but at some schools they list all the donors in the program...if anyone has one and can take a look to see if anyone notable is on there that'd be a start...

I recall possbily Patton making initial donation to kick start CU putting a new basketball floor in CEC

I think it was for a newsletter printing press.

No, Barnett use to donate over $100K a year to the AD....why would their be a rule against it?
