Woelk: Grasping at straws, says some think Talkins might be back with a win or two.

But as of this morning, CU officials have not made any kind of final decision on Hawkins` future. Earlier this week, athletic director Mike Bohn reiterated that there was no coaching vacancy at CU.

So, while rumors continue to swirl, the situation remains status quo, at least for today.

There is still a school of thoughtthat a win tonight, followed by a victory over Nebraska on Nov. 27, would be enough to give Hawkins a fifth year in Boulder. Such a finish would give the Buffs three wins in their last four games, send a signal that the team improved down the stretch and provide some momentum for the offseason.

With that kind of finish, Bohn could likely convince the majority of boosters and fans that a fifth year was warranted.

Some observers also believe that a win in either of CU`s last two games might be enough to bring Hawkins back for a fifth season -- particularly if that win would come over Nebraska.

What observers? You talking about yourself Woelk?

What part of the Talkins Era is over don't you understand Woelk?

This guy is quite possibly the biggest idot I have ever read. Winning one or two games at the end of this awful season would just prove to anybody with a brain that Talkins has been incompetent for 10 games now.. So we going to give him another year just so he can **** up another season? **** NO!!

Absolutely absurd that Woelk continues to live with his head in the sand and doesn't realize the damage that Talkins has done to the program..We as a fanbase are tired of the penalties/lack of discipline on the field, sick of seeing SOFT FOOTBALL coached by the SOFTEST COACH IN AMERICA, tired of an embarrassing 2-18 record on the road, 16-32 overall record, 0-4 against Missouri, I could go on and on. The program is a joke because of Coach Talkins. NO REAL FAN WOULD SUPPORT ANOTHER YEAR OF TALKINS regardless of what happens vs Okie state or Neb!!

Woelk goes on..
What`s perfectly clear, however, is that CU`s athletic department is not in the best of economic shape. A coaching change -- one that would require Colorado to write a check in the neighborhood of $2 million -- would only exacerbate the situation.

But staying with Hawkins would also likely result in reduced ticket sales and donations -- again, a drain on CU`s budget that it cannot afford.

There is, simply, no easy answer.

Yeah there is FIRE TALKINS IDOT.. :sad2: :bang:

Haha, sure... If Hawk wins the next two we will welcome him back with open arms... Whatever, like that is going to happen.

Win our next 2 games, Woelk will write an article about why we should extend Talkins now before we lose him to another school.

No...if that happened I would be completely floored as to how the hell we did it

:sad1:
I'm concerned he may not be grasping at straws. I still believe Bohn is looking for any excuse to keep Talkins for another year.
Tonight the Cowboys could put yet another nail in the juicebox's coffin.

We win, he stays, pretty simple.

I still want the wins badly.

Neoil just doesnt get it. It doesnt come down to two games. In my mind its not about this season either. Because we reached the year where we expected to see more wins or something we could point to that showed improvement. And that has not appeared and winning 2 games now changes nothing in fans minds of the notion that our coach does not know what hes doing and that program is flopping around like a fish out of water. It comes down to about 48 games where the bad ones out numbered the good 2 to 1 and we haven't won on the road except twice and the last time was in 2007

Even if we were to win these last 2 games that should not change the decision on Hawkins. Two what would be very good wins to end the season does not change the body of work that is 16-31 up to this point.

I can't believe that keeping Hawkins is even remotely on the mind of Bohn at this point! :pissed3:

Re: Woelk: Grasping at straws, says some think Talkins might be back with a win or tw

Is anyone really thinking we might win a roadie at Okie Lite when we couldn't win at Toledo, Kansas State or Iowa State? It's not even worth talking about. I'm just hoping that we don't get embarrassed and have a few bright spots.

Re: Woelk: Grasping at straws, says some think Talkins might be back with a win or tw

Zac Robinson probably isn't going to play.

I expect OSU to run the ball with Kendall Hunter and Keith Toasten (sp) a lot.

He will be gone. Even with 5-7, he is gone. Cheer and hope for wins, it's all good.

Woelk is such a flip-flop, old man's dick in need of viagra.

He doesn't know what position he stands, and when he takes one, he flops back over or takes the fence.

He's really obnoxious.

And if you think floppy dick is too much, just look at the guy...
