Does it concern you that nothing has happened yet?

It sucks. I did read in one of the articles today that Bohn has said he will evaluate Hawk after the NU game. So I guess we have one more week to wait I guess.

No. Expecting an announcement after the Nebraska game.

Me too, now. Thought something could crack today but, at this point, the decision to just finish the season out and then make a move won't hurt us one bit. Some college guys we'd want to interview will be tied up for another week past Thanksgiving anyway.

Seems like we would have heard something about interviews Bohn has been conducting if DH is going to be fired or has already been fired as some sites say. Beginning to think we are going to see DH on the sidelines next year. :sad1:

I think it will hurt a little. Its another week of recruiting time slipping away. I was wanting to wake up to the notice of a press conference!

Bohn is in Hawaii with the BB team. Many (I hope) coaches we would officially interview can't do it until the end of the regular season. At this point is does not matter if Hawk is here another week.

What will cause me great concern is if the day after the NU game a decision is not announced. We need a new coach and need as much time as possible during December-January for recruiting.

Why fire a guy before Thanksgiving if you were going to let him coach the Fusker game anyway?

Might seem inevitable, but let everyone have peace through their holidays, as bad as I want us to move on, a few days isn't going to matter.

Oh I hear ya, and agree to a point. In reality, I don't think it will make a huge difference, as recruiting will be sort of on pause until the next coach is named. So a week's difference probably isn't a big deal. But I see your point and my mindset in life is "Just tell me what's going on so I can deal with it and move on." That's where I am with this deal.

Nice... Bohn is in Hawaii? He sould be fired too!

No. If he is fired it will not happen until after the Nebraska game. There is no rush. Most established coaches and top assistants will be preparing for Bowl games so they will be reluctant to talk to CU.
:yeahthat:
Also, as much as I hate to say it, taking the highlight above into consideration, this may be the first signs of Shanny Claus not coming to town.
A couple of points-
1) Reports of talking/listening to Bohn gain some steam at the beginning of the week. Shanahan is free as a bird to negotiate a contract.

2) Then, Buffalo fires Jauron Wednesday, Old Man Wilson targets Shanahan and Cowher (from ESPN report this morning) Shanny accepts invitation to talk to Wilson next week. Things get quiet out of Boulder.

Seems to me if Bohn had sealed something up with Shanahan (or Shanahan duo) he would have made the announcement today of Hawk's firing along with a Shanahan hiring. BUT - looks like it didn't get to that point, so Bohn couldn't make the announcement. And as BnG points out above, most everybody else who could be considered candidates are in the heat of the season and trying to secure bowl bids and therefore not interested in talking to even ND about possibly filling a HC position.

So, since Bohn didn't have the big splash name (Shanny) in his back pocket, then no sense in making an announcement today, just wait until next Friday night and start the search for the big name assistant or HC.

Just my thoughts...and yes, I still believe in Shanny Claus! (just not as much:sad1:)

On the bright side, Bohn doesn't leave until tomorrow as written in the DP article aout the game. So maybe a "prime time" event?

I can tell you unequivocally that Kyle aint coming here.

It's been less than 24 hours and people are talking themselves into believing Hawk will be back. He's done. It just won't be official until after Nebraska.

BTW, as long as a new coach is in place by the middle of December, it will be all good. That should give him and his staff a couple weeks to evaluate prospects and be ready to go once the dead period ends. We can afford to take some time with such an important hire.

Gary Barnett fired - December 8, 2005

Deep breaths..

Mike Bohn is exactly where he should be.

Hawkins is gone. Bohn is working the phones from the islands, I'm sure. BB is right, so long as the replacement is in place by mid December, it's all good. If Bohn has been doing his job correctly, he's been working angles since the CSU game.

In all honesty, nobody was talking about firing Hawkins until then. We all thought that this was going to be the breakout year. The idea of losing to CSU was absurd. Couldn't happen. I think Bohn started getting a ton of flak then, and it's continued up to now. He'd been hoping Hawk could do something to justify keeping him, but he only reinforced the idea that he's in way over his head and is totally incompetent for the job he is doing.

It will be quicker this time. As San Diego says, the decision has already been made. In the Barnett situation, we still had the Big 12 Championship game before the firing could be official.

The decision to fire Barnett wasn't made until after the game. Hawkins fate has been sealed since the loss to ISU.

Yes, I know the situations aren't identical. But, it took 2 weeks for the decision to be made and for Bohn to officially fire Barnett. It has been 6 days since ISU.
