they have a big article, hyping brian kelly. he sounds like a badass from the article.

they also list the top 5 schools that will be chasing him and his supposed interest:

1. notre dame. he'd jump at it.
2. fsu. he'd take it.
3. uga. he'd take it.
4. CU. article calls it a "good job" but says we are still rebuilding from the scandal as hawk's 4 years apparently show and that he will pass.
5. illinois. article called it a step down basically. ouch for them.

i dunno. i report, you decide.

i dunno. maybe jimbo ain't all that?
Considering Jimbo's running the show right now and they...suck...ass...maybe they're not so hot on him anymore. He'd go to ND in a heartbeat although I think Harbaugh is a better fit because he understands what kinds of kids he needs to succeed at a academically superior school. Richt ain't goin anywhere. That's just stupid. No offense, but he can and will do better than CU and I'd call Illinois a lateral move at best (although with the zooker's recruiting he'd have some great athletes to start out with). One thing he does need to do is take advantage and strike while the iron is hot after this season if he's going to go big time. Cinncy isn't going to put any money into the program to update any facilities and he needs to bolt. If he waits, he could end up like Gill: coming off a crappy season and really off everyone's hot list.

well, at this moment, it is hard to argue that nd, fsu, or uga wouldn't be better jobs than CU. if you read carefully, my post didn't say that (and, in fact, i was just passing along a tidbit from tsn).

but, i don't think uga fires richt. nd may go a different way. and fsu may stick with what they have. if all of that transpires, CU might end up being one of the better jobs out there unless he wants to risk another year like gill did.

hell, he's not even my first choice. or second. or maybe even 3rd...

anyone would be better than hawkins, however. anyone. even you, probably.

Spot on. Brian Kelly's stock won't get much higher - similar to the one year when Schiano could have taken over at Michian or Miami, but stayed at Rutgers and watched his stock plummet.

While our school shines brighter in other arenas, our football program doens't have the prestige, recruiting and support of Notre Lame, Free Shoes or Georgia. Due to Cinci being a bcs lock/undefeated season, I think Brian Kelly's stock is on the level of those schools, unfortunately out of our range at this point

Sucks that he "will pass" on the Buffs.

IMO, he is earmarked for Notre Dame or Michigan, and wouldn't mind waiting a season or two to go there if he has to.

If Weiss stays at ND, then both him and Rich Rod will be sitting on powderkegs next season with Kelly in their rear-view mirrors.

Michigan would be foolish to fire Rich Rod so quickly. The offense he runs requires some pretty specific abilities at several positions. He may have the guys in place, but they're true Freshmen. Given time, I think he'll do well.

I agree. But it seems fairly obvious that fickle-fandom is striking there. Alot of people are pissed off about the practice log "scandal", the players transferring, and of course the lack of wins.

He probably has 1 more season to erase all of that, but if they go another season of only winning 1 or 2 Big Ten games, all bets are off, IMO.

Oh no I wasn't implying that you specifically were saying that. I was saying no offense to the board in general. If no moves are made at the major schools right now, CU might be one of the top places due to the conference. Sorry for the confusion.

Can Brian Kelly recruit texas or California? If not I don't want him anyway.
Colorado has repeatedly claimed "Calif is main recruiting territory" and choosing someone a thousand miles from LA hasn't paid off well enough. I mean, Hawkins can sign the #1`RB in the country to show his ability to gain access to SoCal, but he can't keep him.

Is Brian Kelly's network into SoCal demonstrating to be so much better? I like Kelly's work at Cincy thus far, but he's had a smaller veneer of success than Hawkins did at Boise. Cincy probably has more direct-competitors for regional recruits, which speaks well of Kelly's albeit very-short-term success there.

I'd rather see CU chase after a Norm-Chow type with years and years of Calif recruit exposure.

FSU has to pay Jimbo Fisher $5 Million if they fire him.

Why would UGA fire Mark Richt? If they fired Richt, Richt should be #1 for both Notre Dame and Michigan over Brian Kelly.

FSU and Miami might also want him. Randy Shannon is on a short leash but he'll get a pass this year because they finally look a lot better. Richt is a UM alum. Richt was also Bowden's OC during his golden years.

I'm pretty sure the ND AD came out and said they will not pursue BK. I can't remember where I saw it, but I'm pretty sure that is the case...

I saw that too. Maybe they are just still not trying to show their cards.

I'd be pretty surprised if they said anything else while they still have 400 pounds of grumpy waddling around their sidelines...

Kind of interesting when you take a look at BK's "top 5(?)" Everyone here seems to think ND goes in a different direction than BK with at least 3 guys (Meyer, Stoops, maybe Petrino) before Kelly, FSU has Jimbo Fisher "in waiting," and I think we all generally agree that Richt stays at Georgia at least 1 more year.

Do the subtraction and who does leave? WOOHOO! Us at #4 despite "still cleaning up from the 'scandal'" Maybe we still have a shot at Kelly?

Just a thought: is the perception of CU right now because of Hawk. Not because of his record here, but because he was (is?) seen as a classy, winning (before here) coach. If he can't win here, maybe there is a perception that something more sinister is afoot in BoCo.

Just a thought.

Nah, hopefully the perception is that he's in over his head WAC v. Big 12.

silence, infidel!

there is a shanny-klaus! and he is coming to visit after thanksgiving to bring us wins.

Haha.

Trust me I have just as much Shanny-Claus hope as you do.

I've been thinking about a good sign to bring to the Fuskers game. Like a letter to Shanny Claus type of thing.

Just tempering the "hope" until we have more "knowledge" lol

Utterly laughable that either would go to ND.

Can't see Meyer going there unless they give him like $5 or $6 million a year which would be absurd. Stoops isn't out of the question. He's had a terrible season in Oklahoma and he hasn't won the BCS game since 2002 (against a mediocre Wash. St. team). He's also lost 4 of the last 5 Red River Shootouts. Pressure could be mounting even though he's had past success (similar situation to Phil Fullmer). If Notre Dame offers him a job, why wouldn't he listen?
