Is Mark Richt really in trouble at UGA?

I can't imagine that he is, but his name keeps popping up as being on the hot seat. Perhaps Bohn is waiting to see if he'll come available? Is sacky having another pipe dream?

Seems illogical that he would be. But alot of time there is crap behind the scenes that is emotional between AD's, coaches, boosters, whatever.

UGA is a great school and Richt is a really good coach and great recruiter. They are just pissed off that Georgia Tech is killing the ACC with coach Paul Johnson and jealous of Florida and Alabama this year.

The dose of reality that they seem to forget: they just lost stud QB Matthew Stafford, stud RB Knowshon Moreno (both who left early), and really good WR Mohamed Massaquoi.

The SEC is another world as far as college football goes, losing to Kentucky and Tennessee is pretty rough this year but if they can upset the Yellow Jackets things will quiet down.

If they do let him go, it will be on par with, or worse than, Auburn dumping Tommy Tuberville in craziness.

UT is on the rise. Georgia is going to struggle. Kiffin and his staff are monster recuiters and given that UT doesn't have much in-state talent they go to other states. The Carolinas and Georgia for one.

I doubt he is on the hot seat this year, but just wait....

Then again, NO ONE thought Mangino was on the hot seat either - then look what happened this last week. Hell, he might get fired before Hawkins does!

The SEC does have a history of firing winning coaches. Tubberville and Houston Nutt come to mind.

Its still too soon to say how Kiffin will do. He's still coaching the last guys guys.

I think he has to fire his DC this offseason and heads into next season firmly planted on the hot seat. He is a victim of his rivals' success. The boosters hate seeing Florida and Georgia Tech lighting it up while Georgia struggles. The win over Auburn last week helped him out quite a bit. If he had lost that game (it is a pretty big rivalry), he truly might be in trouble. He can help himself out immensely with a win next week against GT.

Watching the game last night, I didn't realize they were 6-4 (now 6-5.) Seems like whatever "heat" he might be feeling is the same "heat" (possibly manufactured) as Stoopsie is feeling at OU?

We cannot take a SEC coach though, they would have a **** attack when they find out basic reading is a requirement for admission to CU.

I don't think Richt will get fired this year, but I'd hope Bohn would have a way of knowing if that is a possibility. As far as how we should approach it, I think Bohn should take his time to interview a number of candidates and go from there. We don't need to fire Hawk Friday afternoon and announce his replacement Saturday morning, that's for sure. I think we can afford to give it a couple of weeks to make sure we get the right guy, even if it hurts staff assembly and recruiting a little bit.

My thoughts exactly. Is it worth it to wait until Richt gets fired before making a decision on who our next coach will be?

Well, Bohn is not going to fire Hawkins until Friday/Saturday. Presumably, Richt would be fired (very doubtful) shortly after next weekend if he does get the axe. You would not have to wait to start the process at all.

please. one of my roomies is from Georgia. I would love this. (as long as he doesn't bring his coordinators with him)

SEC is by far the worst academic conference of the BCS conferences......Big 12 is the 2nd worst but at least Baylor, Texas and Colorado uphold some standards. Pac 10 is the best and Big 10 not too far behind.
