Dan Hawkins:

"Take away 10 plays this season and we're probably in a bowl game," CU coach Dan Hawkins said after the game. "We just need to clean some things up ... that's the story of the season."

Bo Pelini:

"I don't like the way our football team played in any phase of the game," Huskers coach Bo Pelini said. "I'm happy we won the game. I thought we took a step back today."

Very frustrating. Hawk let's his coaches, players and himself off the hook after every loss with this same exact quote. It's always a play or two or clean things up. No accountability.

We need a coach like mcdaniels with his fire, passion, and accountabilty for everyone.

Guys just ignore hawk's huggy bear style cause hey, you screw up, you'll get told just clean it up a bit, you're right there.

He's not going to change his coaching style so we are basically ****ed until he's gone.

call me in 2011 when asshole is no longer the coach. until then, why waste time, there are so many better interests in life, than being disappointed time after time.

9 wins with 2 more games up ahead.

Just a little over 9 wins in 3 seasons combined.

Yup.

Saban today said that his team's performance was disappointing and they freaking won @Auburn. The man demands excellence. We demand nothing.

Did you see the way Pelini absolutely undressed his brother on the sidelines after their D gave up that tuchdown to Scotty as time expired? The game was over, they won, and he was fired up about sloppy play and made it obvious to anyone watching tv. It struck me at that moment that our coach would NEVER do that.:sad1:

:yeahthat:

Hey Dan! We're trying to win a mother****ing game here!! :sad2:

Yeah. Pelini is cool.

This really baffles me. Has Hawkins ever been really mad? Even towards the end of the game when you guys still had a chance, and the offense started drawing stupid penalties, they show him on the sideline he has a stupid ass grin on his face.:wow:

He gets mad when he is questioned about his awful record or if he should shoulder some blame. Dan's ego is bigger than CU.

He was publicly mad at CU FANS who wore powder blue for one game saying that "real fans wear black and gold" ignoring the fact that those wearing the powder blue have given to CU while he takes away from it. Real coaches win ****ing games. I don't care about him or his well-being.

Neg-rep me if you want, but this coach is a ****ing joke and I will scream my face off about my displeasure until he is gone, just like I did today.

Gee, Coach Da-yan, how about those other 640 plays you had during the season? Ya had PLENTY of plays to offset "those 10". Why didn't you do something THEN?

I was reminded of something, watching the NU @ CU game yesterday: CU has talent spread across its offense and defense; real, butt kicking football playing talent.

When we look at teams with losing records in top colleges around the country, we usually do not see that.

And that's when the coaching changes are usually announced and often centered around recruiting woes, etc.

Yesterday was the first time that I became nearly convinced of what I've seen shouted around here so often over more than one season now: there is a serious problem on the Buffs coaching staff (I can here the "well duh, fusker!" now ).

I've watched Buffs football all season and saw hints of the talent end of the team. But a game against my team performing terribly (again), and a game in which my team lost in 1st downs and yardage handily, and a game in your house and the H.C. and staff found a way to lose that game?

Wow.

The Big XII North Division is Nebraska's for the taking every single year now unless somebody out there comes up with a choice head coach with the ability to take advantage of the fine players he's suited up.

I still can't believe at this point he's still making excuses for losing. Quit making excuses and just figure it out?

At the beginning of the season people were saying we didn't have that talent. We did, but they weren't on the ****ing field. That and CH wasn't able to make the plays that Hansen made yesterday (the cross body pass to Simas, for example, or dodging Suh). Our special teams are atrocious.

UT with 2 ST TDs, OSU with a PR TD, KSU with a PR TD, MU with a fake FG TD, KU with a fake FG 1st down

We lost to teams such as CSU and Toledo which are abysmal; CSU lost to a New Mexico team that was winless until they played CSU and they didn't even win a conference game. They also lost to a team that we beat at home 24-0. Toledo got blown out by Miami(Ohio) that hadn't scored into the 3rd or 4th game of the season.

NU found a good coach. That D was solid and we put up some big yards. We lost because our STs couldn't get us good field position. Start your first 4 possessions inside your own 10 (or at the 15) and very few times against your D are you going to be able to march up the field and score. We punt 30 yards, give you guys good field position (or a TD) and have a pick 6. You guys find an offense and you'll be a legit top 10 team.

The North is Nebraska's until someone else takes it. The CU admin has left it on the table by keeping Hawk around.

With that in mind, what is your take on the Hawkins retention for his 5th year?

Before yesterday's game it was addressed by the TV announcers as, "he was given five years to turn the program around and it's only been four years."

Progress needs to be made season to season. Not just from one game to another. We started this year very flat and progressed, but couldn't win to save our lives.

This has happened every year with Hawk, except last year where we tanked after WVU. I didn't expect CU to be a national force this year, but expected around 8 wins (maybe after a bowl). Instead we were lifeless and pissed away any chances we had with bad game planning.

We lost to CSU and Toledo and Mizzou with our bad defensive gameplans before the game even started. We lost games because our coach can't play field position. We lost games because we are one of the most penalized teams in FBS. We lost games because we started a QB that shouldn't have stepped on the field this year (after Hansen burned his RS last year, Cody should have been done; I love the kid, but Hansen had more upside). We lost games because our coverage teams suck. We lost games because our clock management is horrible (did you guys like the TO we called on your 3rd and long that you ended up converting?). We lost games because we can't run a real hurry up offense. Seriously, we were down 14 to you guys and we are huddling up with 5 minutes left.

It doesn't take 5 years to work on the little things. Penalties are a reflection on the coaching staff. Staying in your lanes during KOs and Punts are a reflection of the coaching staff. Being able to put a team away when you are up is a reflection of the coaching staff (OSU and we were up HUGE against KU, but they came back and if not for a drop at the end would have won). A good coach would have been to a bowl game this year. Our DL was green, but that was because we can't recruit DL to save our lives. Even so, we can't get any DL studs and only lucked out that Kasa wanted to stay home and that UF wanted to move him to TE/OL.

NMBuff, I disagree with the "no hurry up offense."

That last drive and score by you guys was awesome, to the point of causing our coach to froth at the defensive coordinator, his brother.

You guys can do it. What I wonder is, maybe in that last drive your coach just stepped aside. I wonder if he just said, "go for it, give it all you've got, do what you want." Something like that. Because it was effective.

Meh, that was garbage time. It's easy to call hail marys.

I still point to 5 minutes left in the game and we are huddling up. It wasn't the first time under Hawk that we have had poor clock management. We brought Cody out at KSU because Hansen couldn't run the 2 minute drill? Are you kidding me? You can't run the drill with a sophomore QB? Holy **** that's bad.

Edit: Our protection was unreal on that last play too. Hansen had all day to throw and McKnight can get open given enough time. It still was a lucky play though as you should have had double or triple coverage on all of our WRs.
