The Little Things

Ok, we keep hearing "it's the little things", I will take the bait from you Coach. Now here is what I want, I want to know what your plan is to fix these little things:

#1 Inability to provide pass protection
#2 Untimely penalties
#3 Inability to to punt the ball for more then 40 yards
#4 Inability to advance kickoffs past our 20
#5 Inability to cover punts
#6 Inability to make field goals
#7 Inability to cover passes
#8 Inability to decide on which quarterback to start
#9 Inability to establish the historical strength of Colorado football, a rushing game
#10 Inability to get plays in before the play clock expires

These are the little things that come to my mind, I just would like to know what will be done to clean up these little things.

Those little things turn into big things very quickly if they arent fixed. Did you ever wonder why it seems we run the same pass plays? Those are probably the only ones we can block up and dont do a great job of that. These guys arent coached very well up front, although they played better yesterday. BB said we might need some stability there coaching wise, I agree in a sense. I really dont want to the youth excuse anymore though, Ive seen plenty of oline units across the country this year that dont do the **** our guys do and are just as young.

The thing is, these "little things" have been continuous and ongoing game after game, year after year.

Agreed on all fronts. Seems our coaching staff has as much (if not more) growing up to do as the team that they coach. The little things that are mentioned "as needing fixing" led to own very ugly season this go around. I hope both the team and the coaches are able to figure it out this off-season. Next year is a boiler from the get go.

I really dont think you can call them little things when they are drive killers and take points off the board. All those things are really big actually. I cannot say enough how important special teams are. They are absolutely huge. They flipped the field a bunch yesterday and DiLallo is just not a good punter. Goodman umm is Goodman, get that guy a sports psychologist, it helps some people and hopefully it would him.

it's like "gashers", hawk acts like big plays are flukes but the fact teams and OC's run plays to set that stuff up.

Of course they do, any good OC does that. Making the same mistakes over and over and over are not a fluke either. The players are an extension of their headcoach and what do u see? Ive seen all I need to, actually, I saw all I needed to last season.

#11 Hansen has to work on his release. It's too low. He had too many passes batted down yesterday.

All Hawkins needs is another few seasons and he'll be able to identify All Little Things. Maybe in 4 or 5. Then, in about Season 10, he'll start fixing them.

I think that's his schedule.

Oh yeah...

One of these days, he's going to start recruiting his own players. Boy - that jerk Barnett - how can he STILL be recruiting all these players and foisting them on poor ol' Coach Da-yan? Darn him.

I'm banking on this team growing up and cutting out the mistakes, to a great degree. We shall see.
