I believe the team will rally next year

I believe the guys are behind Hawkins and are pissed and are ready to show you that they are for real. This team will be solid next year. I believe 100% that there isn't a game next year that they cannot win.

I don't know why we had stinkers like against ksu, isu, etc. But we held our own with WVU, Texas, Okie St. and 'braska. Next year, we will be in a position to win those games. I firmly believe it.

I will believe it when I see it. I am no longer going into a new season with high hopes with this staff until they prove they can turn it around. 4 wins in 2010, 5 will be lucky, and I might get super ****ing happy if we get 6 especially with the schedule.

:wtf::rofl2: yeah right, we are worse than Csewe, who demasculated the Buffs at home to start off this God awful season.

I've heard Thronton is turning into a beast at TE. (I just like to provide good news when I hear it.) Also, this according to your favorite head coach, that Derrick Webb is a head hunter.

I also do not believe there will be mass defections if they even have any. I believe the team is behind Hawkins.

i'd love to see it, but i don't "believe it". i've had my fill of kool aid and "the best practices since we've been here". results=results at this point.

DBT new thing must be to most a "We are going to win" thread for every negative thread that gets posted. You are going to be busy this off season DBT.

Nope, you are correct. They have to win back our trust. However, I believe that positive energy from us fans is a good thing, and I choose to send positive energy. And to counter all the negative energy most of you guys are sending, I have to be really positive!

Well, that's pretty special. We have more young guys ready to step up. When we're struggling through a difficult next year, Hawkins can go back to the "we're young" card and some fans will eat it up. I am thinking right around mid-October, we will hear the semi-annual "Just wait until next year!" rhetoric.

I think the personell will improve they will get stronger and faster but I am not sold that our coaching will improve so it will be hard to know if the team improves or not.

Well, I guarantee that this is Hawkins last chance.

You got to be sh&ting me.

We will be looking for a new o-cordinator after Eric leaves for Portland State. I don't see any of the remaining staff be replaced.

I'm a half glass full type of guy but I'm also a realist. This team can't win on the road. What gives you any indication that this is suddenly going to change? We are an injury to Speedy away from have Sumler as our go to back. Don't say Lock can come in because Hawk didn't see fit to use him this year.

I see another 3-5 win season. If nothing else Hawk is consistent.

You're falling for it again!

I know what you mean, you look at all these talented individuals and automatically assume that will roll up into a really good team.

The past two seasons the sum of the parts has been ALOT less than the individual parts. No excuse for that except coaching and game planning.

We have GREAT kids, GREAT talent at alot of positions, but the coaches will ensure that it doesn't gel.

If it happens, it will be awesome, but I'll take a "wait and see" approach before getting my hopes up in 2010.

Until proven otherwise, Hawkins will be allowed to fail as many times as possible before he is shown the door. I am not convinced all that 2010 is do or die for Hawkins.

I think that by the end of the year our defense was beginning to gel. The last two games, I saw our offense starting to get it. Our special teams have GOT to get better. I think Ryan Miller looked to have finally "gotten it" yesterday.

I don't care what I hear out of spring and fall camp. I'm setting myself up for another 4-8 or 3-9 season. Anything better will be a nice surprise. I'm not falling for Talkins 10 win hype ever again. It made this **** painful when I had my hopes up at the start of the season.

You won't have to worry about any 10-win talk this offseason. Hawk will set a much lower goal for 2010, something like "we're going to make a bowl game". He is going to learn from 2009 and dramatically lower the expectations for his football team.

I understand. But to achieve anything you have to have a vision. If the team does not have a vision that they are winners, then they are lost.

You know what I think? I think Hawkins will keep his mouth shut this year. Other than to do the usual press conference stuff.

I wish you were correct. Unfortunately, he seems to have trouble just keeping quiet. I suspect he and Mike Bohn are going to have some interesting discussions this offseason about his handling of public statements.

Look @ the schedule - 4 wins is hopeful / realistic. But the bright side will be that they will be 10 plays away from a bowl -- if they clean up the little things.

Yukity yuk.

DBT what ru on man? Our negatives outweigh the positives and that is fact. The biggest problem I have with your vision statement is I have seen nothing to show he is pursuing that vision. Funny you use that word. I remember when DScott committed and said something similar. It was something like, "Dan Hawkins has a vision and I wanna be a part of that vision." Wtf vision are u talking about? Ill give you one thing bro, you have a nicer heart than I do.

I hope you're right. I'm curious to know, do you guys think he'll get another year if we get 5/6 wins next year? It could be painted as progress and reason to let his contract run it's course.

i don't think he will even sniff five wins next year....2 or 3 is more likely and even with that I think he could be retained.

I don't believe the notion that we "almost beat" WVU, Texas, OSU, Nebraska.

The hallmark of a good team in CFB is that they win the games they are supposed to win, even when they play poorly or are losing for a significant portion of the game. Example: Alabama vs. Auburn yesterday. They pulled it out at the end. If we were better than these teams, or even as good as them, we would not consistently lose these sort of games.

How many times since Hawkins has been here has CU been ahead the majority of the game against superior teams and then lost at the end? It is fairly commonplace. UGA, these games this year, etc. There are more, but I am not going to dig through four years of results to find them.

To be fair, there are a couple of times that CU has pulled these games out. Against Tech and against Oklahoma come to mind. Strangely enough, these wins were engineered mostly by Barnett players... Dizon and Wheatley come to mind.

Almost beating a team that is better than you but losing it at the end of the game does not mean you are as good as that team, even if you find yourself in these scenarios multiple times per year.

When CU starts consistently winning games against these types of schools and stops losing to the CSUs, Toledos, and Montana States of the world, then you can say that we have elevated our level of play. Until then, they are nothing but a bunch of "almost wins" against teams that probably weren't taking CU seriously.

Just my take.

agree.....

Texas-second half was all UT

OSU-fine it was close. Fact remains if Zac Robinson plays it is a different story.

NU-lost by 8 only b/c of a last second heave into the endzone. It was a two touchdown game with 2 seconds to play.

Besides close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades....

No doubt in my mind that 6 wins would be good enough for him to stay. 5 wins might put in trouble, but I even doubt that to be honest.

Awesome, We are starting to have the best Limbo team in Div. 1 Football.
